  • Perfect for Valentine's Day (or any time of year), this Berry Heart Soap is a great way to show your love. It's scented with Bramble Berry Fragrance Oil, which gives a fruity yet sophisticated scent. The hearts embeds are colored with which are highly concentrated pieces of melt and pour soap. They melt easily and create streak-free color in your bars.

    Because this soap involves embeds and layers, make sure to give yourself time for this project. The embeds need about 3-4 hours to fully cool and harden. Then, you can create the base. We highly recommend having a bottle of 99% isopropyl alcohol on hand for this recipe - it gets rid of bubbles throughout the process and helps the layers stick together.

    One thing I was so ridiculously surprised at when I made melt and pour for the first time was how easy it was to clean up. For some reason, before making it I never fully processed that it was _soap_ so I was concerned about how I was going to clean out my measuring cup and the pipette I used. I felt so silly when I brought it to the sink and _duh_ it just lathered up and washed away! I was so shocked at how dumb I had been not realizing that this is of course what was going to happen, and I stood there giggling the entire time I was cleaning up. Lots of fun!

    You mentioned what temperature embeds melt at, have you accidently melted embeds before?

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  4 года назад +4

      We have! Larger embeds like the ones made in this video are a little bit harder to melt, because melt and pour does tend to cool pretty quickly. But smaller chunks of melt and pour embeds can melt if the soap is much hotter than 130-140 F. Using LCP (like cold process) melt and pour bases can help, because they melt at a slightly higher temperature. But in general, it's pretty rare with larger embeds.

    With the soap dye and the utensils for melt and pour, are they non staining? And is cold process soap and dye non staining before it cures? Thanks I’m brand new to it and have only done candle making! And they fragrance oil can’t get on your hands for candles but I’m making sure to be safe with soaps!

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  5 месяцев назад

      For soap colorants, we like to add 1 tsp of color per lb for melt and pour and 1 tbsp of colorant per lb for cold process. This helps limit over-coloring that can lead to staining.

    Hi Anne Marie Im a soap maker from Ireland and have just started added embeds to my soaps which I love. I was wondering is it ok to add melt and pour embeds into my cold processed soap...I have a mini heart coloumn mold which I want to use for melt and pour but use my other cold processed receipes around it. Does this work? I would love your advice please. thanks xxx

    • @bramble-berry
      @bramble-berry  2 года назад

      Absolutely! The key is to use LCP Clear and LCP White Melt and Pour Soap Base. They have less glycerin than our regular bases, so they have little to no sweating. That means they're less likely to shrink or morph in cold process soap.
