Great video. Thank you. I had two wheels to repair. What I did learn after the first one was to use painters tape to mask the rim right up to the closest edge of the "rash" before and during sanding. This will avoid removing or scratching the clear coat anywhere other than the area you want to sand. Otherwise, no matter how carefully you sand, you will sand some small scratches on parts of the rim that were perfect before you started, and unintentionally enlarge the area of your repair. I wanted to minimize the area that I had to spray with clear coat and this method kept that area as small as possible.

I had my alloy wheel gutter rash repair but then the repairer repaint the whole alloy, it no longer has that nice gloss finish look anymore like the other OEM alloy wheels , does the alloy wheel lacquer would help achieve the gloss on a repainted rim?
Most likely the repairer used a paint and finish that is not glossy. To get this, you could buy a "High GLOSS clear coat lacquer" and spray that on your wheel. Remember, lacquer adds shine and protects the underlying paint from UV-fade, industrial and environmental fallout and wash swirls which helps to prevent corrosion of the wheels. So this should hopefully give your wheel a glossy look. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink 😎👍🏾

I have tried this method and it seems to have smoothed out the damage but it has caused the grey coating to come off and i now have silver and black marks on my alloy. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks
1. Silver and black marks on your alloy is either due to the masking tape used or your alloys were dirty when you did the repair. 2. If your alloy wheel was coated or painted grey before you did this repair and it came off after you completed the repair, then you definitely have to get the touch up paint or spray for your alloy to sort that. If you adhere to the spraying motion (left to right) and also apply the lacquer from a distance as described in the video, you should not have negative effect on your brake disc. Is alloy wheels lacquer and normal lacquer different?
Yes mate. They are different
Also can 600 be used instead of 800. What will be the difference
@@sayantandutta4392 technically you can use the 600 but remember this is softer than the 800 and it would take a longer period to remove the abrasions, scratches or rash marks on your alloy. Cheers, DJ Blink-Blink.

If you have black rims can they be touched up or do you have to have it all resprayed? Won't it show up and not match my paint or lacquer?
If you have black rims, it can be touched up. First you need to do everything I did in this video, then just before you spray the lacquer, you would touch up the rims. Wait for 30 minutes, then spray the lacquer.

You would have a perfect match in as much as you get the exact paint for your alloy (the colour code can be found on the alloy wheel itself).

Cheers,
DJ Blink-Blink
Thanks for the quick response friend. I believe my alloys have grey ceramic coating, sanding them took it off. I heard ceramic coating is very expensive to replace
Where can I get the same color spray paint? I need one just like that for my rim.
This link is the spray I used on the alloy wheel (I used only a lacquer spray) www.ebay.co.uk/itm/183999709942

You didn't protect the brake discs..............other than that OK.
If you adhere to the spraying motion (left to right) and also apply the lacquer from a distance as described in the video, you should not have negative effect on your brake disc. Remember the elements (rain, salt, mud etc) land on the brake discs throughout the year and this does not have any effect on the braking system or performance as a whole.
All in all, you should be fine
