    Great video. Thank you. I had two wheels to repair. What I did learn after the first one was to use painters tape to mask the rim right up to the closest edge of the "rash" before and during sanding. This will avoid removing or scratching the clear coat anywhere other than the area you want to sand. Otherwise, no matter how carefully you sand, you will sand some small scratches on parts of the rim that were perfect before you started, and unintentionally enlarge the area of your repair. I wanted to minimize the area that I had to spray with clear coat and this method kept that area as small as possible.

      Now that's a great learning curve Ivanq. I never considered using painters tape to mask the areas that was not damaged. Thanks mate & also thank you for your feedback about my video 👍🏾😎 Cheers, 𝘾𝙡𝙞𝙘𝙠 𝙩𝙤 𝙖𝙘𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨 𝙖𝙡𝙡 𝙢𝙮 𝘿𝙅 𝙢𝙞𝙭𝙚𝙨 👉www.djblinkblink.com/music-downloads

    1- just need to be bit slower when spraying and try have 15 to 20cm away.

    Yo blink blink bruv, after removing the curb damage, how do you blend the spray can lacquer, which is normally 1K with the original factory finish which is 2k I assume as it's much thicker. Surely it can't work and you’ll still see the edges where it's been sanded?

    Hi there Blink Blink! I have a pretty nasty scratch on my back passenger side 2016 Hyundai Tuscon Alloy Wheel. Upon watching many RUclips videos, I found yours and felt comfortable with following your steps and do the wheel repair myself. Being in the US, it's almost impossible to find the Lacquer you are using but I managed to find one listing for it on Ebay so I looked at the pics and read description it seemed like what you use, except the Manufacture Part Number was one number different and the description also states that the one I purchased is not for Shadow Chrome wheels...I googled "shadow chrome" and it looks like mine but also my wheels look like what you have repaired in both of these videos. I'm wondering you're thoughts about this?! I will list the link to the listing below if you don't care to take a look please. I'm just worried that I either won't be able to use the can of Lacquer I purchased (it has not arrived to me yet) or if I use it, I may do more harm than good?! Love your vids! www.ebay.com/itm/233539331068

      Hello christi, apologies for just responding to your comment (RUclips thought it was spam because of the eBay link and I had to approve it before it showed up for me to respond). So I took a look at the eBay link and I can confirm you can use that lacquer and it would be fine. Remember take it slow, be patient and don't let it drip when you spray the lacquer. I had my alloy wheel gutter rash repair but then the repairer repaint the whole alloy, it no longer has that nice gloss finish look anymore like the other OEM alloy wheels , does the alloy wheel lacquer would help achieve the gloss on a repainted rim?

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  3 года назад +3

      Most likely the repairer used a paint and finish that is not glossy. To get this, you could buy a "High GLOSS clear coat lacquer" and spray that on your wheel. Remember, lacquer adds shine and protects the underlying paint from UV-fade, industrial and environmental fallout and wash swirls which helps to prevent corrosion of the wheels. So this should hopefully give your wheel a glossy look.

      Hello Zia, I'm glad you "bumped" into my videos on RUclips 😂. Hopefully you wound find them useful.
      As per the alloy wheel lacquer, clear vanish spray is not the same. lacquer is the toughest of the two, though both leave hard, durable surfaces. Generally, the most common reason for favouring lacquer is simply that it wears better. So I would advise you get a "good and trusted" lacquer spray and you should be fine 💪🏾😎👍🏾

      1. Silver and black marks on your alloy is either due to the masking tape used or your alloys were dirty when you did the repair.
      2. If your alloy wheel was coated or painted grey before you did this repair and it came off after you completed the repair, then you definitely have to get the touch up paint or spray for your alloy to sort that.

      I looked it up on Ebay but UK won't delivery to The United States. Any stores in the U.S. would have it? Thanks bro

      Unfortunately that product is not sold in the United States. I also took a look for you on Amazon but could not find any store shipping to the states. You could however send the supplier an email or give them a call to find out if they do have a distributor at yours. The supplier's details is shown below:
      Phone number: +44 (01525 382713)
      Email: sales@autoinparts.com

    Very nice bro, good job. It's too bad you used that one Pokemon card that was worth 10k. But the wheel looks great at least. Lol. Jk

    You didn't protect the brake discs..............other than that OK.

    • @DjBlinkBlink
      @DjBlinkBlink  3 года назад +1

      If you adhere to the spraying motion (left to right) and also apply the lacquer from a distance as described in the video, you should not have negative effect on your brake disc. Remember the elements (rain, salt, mud etc) land on the brake discs throughout the year and this does not have any effect on the braking system or performance as a whole.
      All in all, you should be fine
