Very reasonably priced! I’m glad VKB did this theyr mostly known for combat sims. They will do well for sure with these let’s hope they can keep up with the demand. Good first look mate! You did a fine job🙌🏼
Great overview of the new Vkb stuff. I just ordered the WW2 throttle combo, with an additional throttle quadrant, and the k12 stick. If it ever gets here I will finally have the WW2 prop deskpit that I have always wanted!
This looks great, I just wish someone would do a stick that was more GA. Like the stick in the carbon cub or along those lines. Maybe even sits on the floor or your seat between your legs.
The 3 silver screws on the throttles top let you adjust the resistance tension of the levers and they come from the factory max tight for shipping and why it has so much resistance you push it around on the desk. 1-2 turns loose will make them smoother and they are mag sensors instead of pots so they should last.
Basically I already have a Gladiator premium flightstick both in a left and right hand version for use in flight/space sims. I have already ordered and am awaiting the arrival of the THQ throttle, SEM side extension module and the FSM front switchboard module along with the MFH multi function holder mount. I ordered a couple of the stand alone USB controller boards as well as I know I will set up the throttle on its own USB cable and may set up the other two modules linked together on their own port as well so everything can be used independently for swapping around different set ups for different games and applications. I am hoping that along with the T-Rudders Mk.IV rudder pedals which I already have as well that this will complete my flight sim gear acquisitions. I have a sim racing rig which I have configured to be easily switched out for flight duty giving me the option for center stick and/or/ left or right throttle plus also being capable for left/right stick set up for space sims as well. In the left /right stick mode the center mount location could be used for the switch boxes if needed as well or it would not be hard to configure one more mounting location to the left front side if that were more convenient . Is the software as easy to set up when things are plugged in independently as it would be if they are daisy chained together? I figure configuring the setup and binding the keys will be an experience all to itself! lol! I am new to getting into flight sims at this level and for the money VKB seems to be the best quality/bang for the buck gear out there. If someone would have told me a few years ago I would spend just south of $1000 u.s.d. for controllers to play flight sims and that would be for the best bang for the buck level gear I would have ask if someone had bumped their head! lol!
Yes - Free stuff is COOL 😎 lol I was so looking forward to seeing you use this with the VR Headset - something I’ve been trying to play with. !!!!!! I have the turtle beach yoke/controls. Very happy with it. I think you should put your lever modules together so you can use it for twin engine throttle/prop/mix two levers each (obviously). Anyways, get your headset on soon. Looking forward to it. OR you could get the VARJO XR where you can define the instrument area and see your instruments with front camera and everything else in VR, no matter where you move your head, or stand up etc, it’s FAB. Go on, splash out 😉
Hello sir, i know this was an very old video. But i really wish you still reply to this, i want to ask if i can use this with other joystick and pedal sir? I mean like if i use thrustmaster yoke and pedal could i still use this throttle? or its only compatible exclusively with other VKB's?
Hi Steve, another controller option in the market is always welcome, thanks for review. Interesting you say you prefer it to the Bravo TQ, I didn’t know you had one to compare it to. I know you got the alpha yoke, and seen your reviews, did you get the bravoTQ at the same time? Nice!
Hey Mark, I don't have one personally, but I've been lucky enough to borrow one from a fellow simmer and it's a fantastic quadrant (I may pick one up at some point), in my opinion it lacks the amount of buttons I need since I use a variety of sims (as you know DCS is crazy for bindings). Although I think the main draw here is the ability to customise your modules (even the circuit boards) which gives cockpit builders more versatility. Thanks for watching!
I'm trying to figure out how to make a setup for Star Citizen. The problem is it's not a flight sim, it's a space sim, so there is no use for all these levers and switches, I need buttons or pseudo-switches.
At first view this appears very strange. The throttle placement and size? The Honeycomb Yoke and Throttle Quad mimic an airplane more effectively and I find very accessible while in VR with natural placement of trim wheel, throttles, gear and flaps. Though for non-VR flying I could see how that VKB auto-pilot panel would be a handy upgrade to the Honeycomb. Is the pricing really an advantage over the Honeycomb offerings?
I think this is targeting a different market than the Honey Comb Quad, especially as these modules are all interchangeable and highly customisable, you can have things in different places which is useful for cockpit builder, you can even turn this thing into a hotas. Also, if you're more a stick guy, it compliments the Gladiator joystick perfectly.
Those axis for throttle mixture and prop are just so far apart no ? Looks very uncomfortable to use ? For single prop use then yes but a setup for 2 or 4 engine they seem too far apart.
I think that this set is far from the Honeycomb Bravo. Bravo (if you don't pay much attention to the indicator lights) is also straightforward and fully customizable. The set of 6 throttles axes is of excellent quality, with adjustable force of action. At the end of the axis there is a button that can be used in any way (Revers, Cut off, etc). 6 axes + set of interchangeable tips for 1, 2 engine planes + 1-4 jets. If only the Bravo had a double axis for each lever (for the beta range or reverses) it would be a perfect device. Personally, for me the only disadvantage of Bravo is its dimensions. It is a bit troublesome when using VR + VR controllers (it happens that the construction of Bravo may be in the way). I do not use the control diodes at all, and the buttons are used for various purposes. Of course, this is only my 5 cents ;-), and thank you very much for presenting this set. I will just mention that apart from Honeycomb Bravo and Alpha (yoke), I also use Gladiator as a joystick - and I highly praise it and recommend it - it is perfect.
Thanks for your sharing your thoughts. I don't have the Honey Comb Quad so I can't really comment, so this is useful. However, I do think this modular system targets a slightly different market, as everything (and I mean everything, down to individual switches and circuit boards) can be changed. Cheers!
@@VRFlightSimGuy You are of course right on this point. Generally very interesting equipment and it's great that there are more and more alternatives. I've always thought / dreamed of FLIGHT Throttle Quadrant TQ6 + from Virtual-fly, but the versatility and a multitude of additional options made me buy Bravo. And the price ;-)
Honeycomb needs more knobs, dials, and buttons on their stuff. Or a dedicated AP and avionics box. Right now vkb is great for vr pilots who need many bindings.
Looking forward to the upcoming videos with this system. Especially interested in the AP module. Hint: use a bit of BluTack (putty) under the modules and they won’t move around at all.
Ergonomically, I feel the modules would be better of the outside of the stick (as rights side of the stick in your right hand) and then you're not reaching around the stick to access the modules.

@@VRFlightSimGuy Yep quite possibly, they probably come with crud pre-installed and not helped by the fact that the wiper only uses 1/4 of the track. It is really easy to clean though, just a bunch of screws, pop out the pot, wipe track with either contact lubricant it at a push isopropyl alcohol.

I’m loving my bravo throttle and recently got a Logitech Radio panel. Works easily in VR too.
Nice video Steve, I'm pretty sure you wrote that A5 off at take-off. Hopefully you're well insured.

It looks like a really good throttle system. Only wished it had a way to add detents, e.g. for reverse thrust, afterburner and for airliners
That’s very nice! I love the feeling of my X-56 throttle. It’d be hard to change.
