Yonatan "Yoni" Netanyahu is a Legendary figure in modern Israel History.
Born in New York City in 1946 to Israeli parents, Yoni returned to Israel at age 3 where he spent his youth in Jerusalem. He served in the Six day war and eventually joined an elite Unit known as Sayeret Matkal. On June 27th, 1976 German and Palestinian terrorists hijacked Air France flight 139 and had the pilot land at Entebbe airport in Uganda. On July 4th commandos led by Yoni flew 2000 miles from Israel, on an impossible mission to free the hostages. The raid was ultimately a success, but tragically, Yoni was killed during the rescue. Just one year after his death, a collection of his private letters were published to critical acclaim, showing a reluctant soldier and a true hero who relished serving his country, but not the violence that came along with it.
Badass Jews is a short animated series from Birthright Israel Labs that takes a look at Jewish athletes, spies, soldiers, and all-around tough guys and gals who lived their lives in the true Maccabean style. Each episode explores a new and different Hebraic hero. New volumes monthly! All episodes are written by Andrew Davidsburg, animated by Israeli animator Ory Pinchasy and produced by Alkemy X.

There's an old movie, Raid on Entebbe, which tells this story incredibly well. Shakespearean thespian Yaphet Kotto gives a chilling performance as dictator Idi Amin.
(A more recent flick, 7 Days in Entebbe from the 'Narcos' creator Jose Padhila tried to 'humanize' the German/Palestinian terrorists by shifting focus away from their Jewish victims. The result is boring and almost unwatchable, having to erase the most compelling and interesting factual events so that they don't reflect poorly on the terrorists.)
"Raid on Entebbe" (1977) received a largely positive critical consensus. I strongly recommend it.
"7 Days in Entebbe" (2018) was critically panned, garnering only 24% on Rotten Tomatoes.
The newer, woker movie may please a small handful of very loud and self-righteous people, but unfortunately for them, no matter how loud they are, their ideas fall flat with the general public and their whitewashing of history will wind up in the dustbin.

unfortunately i have to disappoint the jingoistic youths: Yoni was added to the operation in which he died after it was already planned, he was actually in the process of being demoted in his unit because of his behavior, he broke the rules pf engagement during the operation putting hostages at greater risk, essentially giving up the element of surprise by shooting a Ugandan soldier unnecessarily. He certainly did some heroic things, and he also did some very stupid things as well.
