A day without this song is a wasted one. Thank you for creating such a masterpiece!
It was banned for at least 700 years.. there is a lot of wasted days i think.
profoundly true, given a 4 year period since i first heard this - im still listening to it.. regularly.
I don't always listen to Suurin in my car, but when I do, so does Toronto.
It's a spell, a Finnish language spell. Tribe Witch is enchanting the heroes for war and cursing the enemies. Becoming wolves among the sheep.
Thats correct 👊
@Fritz The cat What? Why so aggressive? I was explaining what the song is and you went of the handle and to tell that U.S is going to Invade Finland or what?
@Fritz The cat You don't have to prepare for end of the world. It'll come and most likely take you, me and most of with it so what ever.
It's not, though. It's a spell for a woman to gain confidence in a dance to find herself a man.
@@drivernephi2212 Actually it's poem about Ragnarok

It's "susi", not "suusi". Mie suusi suurin would mean "I'm your greatest mouth".
Driver Nephi ah okay :-) had the text from the original mv, some dialect? I wouldn’t know
@@lovejustifiesexistence It does indeed have a dialect, but not on that particular word.

@@snow-ev2ix I m orginal Finnish man, i have found here southern finland in inland on riverbed old burial site which is from year 500 about, Scandinavic brooch very nice figures on it. That time here was spoken language of Saame, before Finnish language come here from the east. So if here have come some people from south Scandinavia area they might speak very much this kind of language with the native people... Saame=Sami and its relative language with Finnish language.
2 years later, but... Wow, I wasn't expecting to see you in this corner of RUclips. Does Kati Ran stir the icy winds of Northrend in your veins?!
There is no creature in this World like the wolf that evokes countless passions, stories, legends and myths, a multicultural creature, from Native Americans, European cultures to the Asian steppes, master and lord of the forests and mountains
I like to ear my two sons (8 yo and 5 yo) singing this song (their own cover of 2 french kids) when they play with their viking playmobil or when we're going to a medieval faire. They're fascinated by the music and the video. This song makes me travelling through time, to a long house, listening nordic legends, drinking.
Thanks Kati Ran, from France, from my clan.
“War is not a pleasant experience, but who else would protect this land unless we are willing to do it ourselves?” - Simo Häyhä
Häyhä was a soldier in the Finnish army during what historians call the “Winter War" which began on November 30, 1939, when half a million Soviet Red Army troops invaded Finland.
Although the war only lasted 105 days, 98 of which Häyhä was active, the Finn sniper would walk away with 505 confirmed kills, earning him the name "the White Death", & making him one of the deadliest (if not the deadliest) snipers of all time.

Very nice to find this very beautiful, powerful and deeply grieving piece just today, since I'm facing one more of my acute depressive episodes. Having accompanied the musical progressive, prog-rock derived and 'avant garde' scenario along more than 50 years ( I'm a 71 years old medical doctor and also musician ), I have observed the prevalence of music with a very dark and gothic inspiration mostly along the last decades. I have always loved this darker view of things since I was young, but not so much as now. I think new musicians presently produce more and more music within this feel due to the terrible times we are facing. Yes, that's the true sound of our era. Best regards from very distant ( geographically ) Rio de Janeiro, South America. Nelson Soucasaux - Gynecologist, writer, visual artist, guitarist and composer.
I love this so much. It’s easing my emotional pain today. My wife would have loved this. I hope she can hear it wherever she is in this universe.
She can
She is still part of it and always will be.
Oh my dear Lord of the mighty forces. This is what I needed. I could compare this moment discovering your music to that moment in which I listened "Dead can Dance" The Fatal Impact for the first time back in 1986... This is truly something else... Much needed in this times of good music scarcity
Ta pieśń też mnie rozłożyła na łopatki! Piękna nuta!!!
Polecam polski folk typu: KAPELA ZE WSI WARSZAWA, LABORATORIUM PIEŚNI i wiele innych. Korzenie, folk i dark wave! :)
PS
Dead Can Dance - w 2019 zobaczę ich po raz 9. na żywo! :)
I listen to this before work and pound on my chest to the beat. Its the only way I can convince myself to walk back in and resume the grind
Prawdziwi ludzie, prawdziwa muza! Przecudne dźwięki, magiczny klimat. To są korzenie, które przenoszą nas w inny wymiar... Folk i dark wave... Pozdrowienia z Zielonej Góry :)
I can't stop watching this video, this is exactly what I needed to soothe my soul
I love this !!! So much good music coming from the Scandinavian countries...Kati Ran, Helisir, Heilung, Danheim. I feel a connection with this music like nothing else before, I can't explain why ? with love from the UK
@@anttityykila9384 Ok, Thanks...my bad. Its all good. Every day is a learning day, I need to do more research. I am quite a recent convert to this whole genre of music (about 2 years) I just find it all totally fascinating.
@@anttityykila9384 I really like finnish people. You have a perfectly fine culture, theres no need to spread corrupt history. In the oldest writings that describe the origins of our gods comes from Iceland. They tell that Oden/Odinn/Wothanaz is germanic deitys. The texts even describe how Oden led hes poeple to Scandinavia. 99.99 % of all archeological findings concerning Frej Freja and Oden comes from Sweden, Denmark and Norway and iceland. Do you really think thats a coincidence? Wothanaz is Oden in proto-Germanic... On the other hand the finnish culture speak of a deity named Ukko a.k.a Perkele. And that also have a very cool story behind it!! But its not cool to spread missinformation to people that doesent know better.
@@P8290970 You should learn history from people that know what their talking about. Like historians. There are a lot of real historians out there that you can learn a lot from. You will only be fooled by fake wannabe history teachers in the comments under you tube videos. :)
@@anttityykila9384 ruclips.net/video/6jaeSHfNTuQ/видео.html This is a quite cool, informative video from a historian/linguist. Ive seen it before and i came to think about it just now. Its about the people of Finland. Very interesting.
@@anttityykila9384 You should seriously stop trying to claim viking longships as some kind of Finnish invention. That just make you look dumb. There are absolutely no historian facts behind that. The only traces of viking longships in finland comes from Skandinavian travelers. My wife have dna matches with dna samples taken from grave mounds that are >7000 years old. And we both are 100% scandinavian. Wouldnt we have matching dna with at least some of the finnish people too If it is as you say? :D www.bradshawfoundation.com/scandinavia/introduction.php here you have cavepaintings of long ships. made in sweden. I seriously dont doubt that finnish people had boats. But you didnt have boats as good as Skandinavian boats. otherwise finns would have been the great men that went vikingr discovering new land. ;)
The only thing you get right is that Hitler were interested in the high amount of "Aryan" dna wich actually finns have pretty much of. So thats true. Odin isnt aryan btw. Odin is a germanic forebarer. And swedes have the highest amount of ancient germanic DNA of all people in the world. Now you go figure.. ;)

the way she sings that last line.

Such a beautiful song, honestly can't decide whether I like this version or the studio one more LOL.
Girlfriend showed me this song and now I can't stop listening to it :')
This song was banned for 1000 years :)
@@anttityykila9384 who banned it? I wanna know the history I’m curious!!! (Not trying to be rude)
Found this on my Spotify and fell in love with its primal, raw beauty.
Какая прекрасная песня. Просто замечательно, темп, вокал и остальное, всё в тему. Гоняю на репите, добавлено в плейлисты. Врублю этот трек на мотоцикле и в путь. Спасибо за такой подарок.
Sends shivers down your spine - this is REAL music that speaks to our ancient background.!
I recently found out this song and Kati Rán's work, and i just loved it. Greetings from the other side of the hemisphere, Brasil
Thank you... Felt big with this.
I listen to this daily and it is even better than the studio recording.
This kind of music comes from and revives our common memories as humanity from ancient times, has the power to dissolve the illusory rationalist culture europe sank so much into and can bring us back to a based, raw, human ground. If you're interested in history, you'll see our roots are same. For eg. Finnish language belongs to the same language family with Turkish, which is funny because Turks were Siberian shamans back in Asia before Islamic assimilation. The connection is obvious in throat singing.
❤🥳
This song haunts my mind for at least a week.
I love it.
it was banned for at least 700 years ... for a reason. Kati got promission from Helsinki to use it. They have been canceling this bans for couple of years.
God, I love these powerful female voices.
Uh simply amazing,nordic spirituality living
Love....love...love.......Greetings from small town America......
There was one man from this tribe called Karelians. And he came to America to fight for our country after ww2 and he served In Vietnam. And this song is war chant. And he's name is Larry Thorne.. In Green barrets they still give the award for the best individual (alpha) and its called Larry Thorne prize 👊 look for document from him, there is plenty of those In youtube.
Then you know what it means to be the biggest wolf...
Super nice live version of this. And it adds to the songs power that you can see how much the musicians are into the groove:)
