I am not sure the channel owner would appreciate your speaking of Russian (instead of Ukrainian) and your alluding to Asian influence... ;-) I don't know what exactly you mean by "why are some embroidered the way they are ?" but, in case it is about the faces, these crosses have a protective function, both from a pagan view (the four corners of the world and so on, perhaps this is what reminded you of Native American symbols) and from a christian one. These dolls did not have faces with human features so as not to allow the "evil spirits" to enter the doll through the eyes.
