This definitely felt like Oxygen meets Wild Blue Yonder. A stripped back story like WBY with the message and 12 vibes of Oxygen. I love that line, "now you need proof?" Very Doctor-ish. Poking holes in their misguided actions and delivering it wonderfully
Loving the fact that I´m not the only one who got serious 12 vibes from Ncuti in this episode. If only Jodie Whitaker had a couple of Moffat scripts to bite her teeth into and things may have been very different for her legacy
This is one of those moments in Doctor Who that gives you chills beyond belief, similar to when 12 started to threaten Ashildr, or 9 saying "Everything lives and everything dies". I had to rewatch this over and over because that line delivery is one of my favourites in the entire show

I think this is the moment where 15 actually felt like the Doctor for me for the first time! This is that first moment where you connect with the new incarnation, think 12th Doctor's I am the man who stops the monsters or 11's Basically Run!
I Wonder if she'll play this character or a New one tho We've never had a "religious" companion so that could bé pretty interesting Dynamic wise with thé doctor !
I wish he had better scripts. The guy is undeniably talented, but it feels like only here or there he's being pushed into that Capaldi/Tennant level of Shakespearean sturm and drang. And Ruby feels like Clara all over again - not the exact story, but another "Impossible Girl", and that's too bad because SHE is great, too. It's so odd. All of the ingredients are there for both a return to the wonder of the Russell/Moffatt years - a great showrunner; brilliant actors; scripts from two fellas that know how to write, that's for sure; Murray Gold; bigger budget than ever before. And it just feels flat, for some reason. Meh. Life goes on.
There’s definitely elements that makes Ruby feel like season 7 Clara. However, where I feel Ruby differs is the mystery that surrounds her ties into her personal emotional arc throughout the season, something I can’t remember Clara having and I think makes for great story telling
I think Ruby is very different from Clara, as with Ruby’s mystery arc, that’s something that actually happens in real life, being a foundling adoptee, not knowing where you come from and who your birth parents are, which naturally makes you mysterious, the only non-real thing about Ruby is her memories of the night she was born manifesting into reality.
@@Timewizz My biggest problem with Clara is that for Series 7b she is basically just a plot device with very little character and because of this I don't really see that much chemistry between her and 11, thankfully this changed with Day of the Doctor where she FINALLY felt like a person and not a plot device and her chemistry with 11 was amazing, it's a shame that it was the penultimate episode with them both as they are great together in those last two episodes so it's a shame we didn't get this prior. And she's consistently great with 12, even more so in fact! Whereas with Ruby of course there is this mystery but she still feels like an actual person and her dynamic with 15 is incredible, they are so good together and 15 doesn't keep going on about her being a "mystery that needs to be solved", he's intrigued of course but ultimately they are two best friends having fun travelling time and space together!
@@friendlyotaku9525 That's kind of the point of her character, we see her through 11's POV and he treats her like that, as something to be studied rather than as a person, it's not until the end of his run that he changed up that way of seeing her and 12 just saw her as her rather than a mystery box.

One of my favourite lines of the episode. Ncuti’s delivery really sells it!
He switched from happy-go-lucky voice to dead-serious voice in 2 seconds.
Well can you blame him, he's standing on a landmine that blow up at any second

Moffat should own Doctor Who and a new generation of scriptwritters (or just an AI) should be trained to write scripts like him for when he retires.
So little good in a sea of a historic horrible season it just makes me sad. 😔
