- I have used Zam for years as the final polishing step for Turquoise. By using a soft felt wheel and a bit of Zam I can move from a 2000 to 3000 grit wheel directly to Zam for a high polish.
Check out the cabs I sell on Instagram, my user name is turquoisejewelryforsale
Nice. So nice . I'm beginner. Didn't see and hear such act. Thanks
had a real aha moment with a couple of moments on your video. thank you
Sungguh batu yg cantik... Saya sangat menyukainya 👍👍👍🤭
I just bought a small tube of Sam today and it is amazing I also have fabulustre from the same company.
Thanks for the tip. I will have to give it a try. I wonder if it works on jade. Be happy, safe and stay healthy 😷⚒
Just an idea but you can also use a wooden dowel and hot glue to secure your turquoise. That’s what I do with opals, just use your jewelry saw to release your glue just remember not to let it over heat when polishing because the glue will let go if it’s too hot.
Good idea!
Be sure to wear a P100 respirator and have good air ventilation when working with green polishing compounds. The main ingredient is Chromium(III) oxide (Cr2O3), which is a recognized carcinogen. many, many people (including me, until a year or so ago) have used it for many years with no PPE and haven't had any problems, but it's not worth the risk. Stay safe and stay creative :)
Thank you for the info
Hi! I was wondering what you mean when you say (this piece is stablelied) ? Thank you!!!
Stabalized means the stone was soaked in a resin that glues the stone together so that it is easier to work with and will not fall apart. Some turquoises are very brittle by nature, and not a strong stone. So in order to make it cab-able (meaning it can be cut and shaped without just falling apart) it has to be stabalized. Not all turquoise is stabalized, but some are.
I used Zam on some fluorite and it left behind residue. Any idea on how to clean off the Zam residue?
Yes! It leaves residue. So, rub the stone dry wirg a rag first then if that doesn't clrmear most of it,hot water and soap would be the best cleaner with a tooth brush and that will get it all off.
Get a piece of leather suede, put it on the table, and put your stone on the leather. Then it won’t slip outta your fingers so easily.
