The rain kills activity here, too. Only these big rain events bring out a few water-loving species. During hurricanes, I always hope to find mud snakes and maybe a rainbow, but the rainbow snake hasn’t happened yet. I’ll cross my fingers for the next hurricane.
I would say that the garter population looks healthy there. That would have been a cool observation if the Nerodia had eaten the earthworm. Perhaps it was initially just reacting to movement and then decided not to eat it after it realized what it was.
