if you've got room id fabricate 2 gussets to mount at the rear of your plate to stop moving forward under load if your worried about the strength of the 4 mounting bolts
Looking pretty good but that additional plate is not necessary, if it was the manufacturer would have spelled that out in the mounting instructions. I don't know of any electric winches that have more than 4 mounting bolts and as long the bolts are sized according to the manufacturers instructions no additional reinforcement is needed. Aesthetically speaking I like the additional plate, but every little bit of extra weight adds up and even with a unimog you still want to keep the weight down.
Thabo, I dont think additional lights will help given the amount of energy being emitted by the welder :) I too had the problem of seeing where I was welding and an older wiser head suggested I try a pair of high diopter reading glasses from the chemist and viola! I could see much better. Depending on your welding visor you might be able to get lense inserts also.
Just for your info Thabo, those round things are called spring washers and they do work as intended.
Hey thabo. Whenever do mig welding . Always try to push . Don’t pull . U can get better quality.if u do stick welding u can pull the weld.

Hi Thabo - Get a lighter shade lens from Bunnings next time - get a shade 6 or 8 you might have a shade 16..big difference.
