It is interesting that Duck Soup indeed was the first marx brothers movie I watched here in Brazil in 1976. I laughed so much that I could not wait until other movies would turn up again. Then came Monkey Business and ( low quality copies of) A night at the opera and Cocoanuts. I watched also The Big Store. No doubt they knew how to produce explosive laughter through an audience.
Great video as usual, even though I disagree with your opinion on this film. Because I just finished watching Duck Soup a few minutes ago, and holy hell, I thought it was brutally unfunny. And it’s disappointing because I really loved Monkey Business. Also, I understood all the political satire, but to me the comedic pacing was just really bad.
@@LearningaboutMovies I thought the war scenes were ok. But the mirror scene was brilliant, I’ll give it that. I just wish there were more scenes like that in the film. But even though I didn’t find most of Duck Soup funny, at least it was memorable.
thank you. Perhaps you have the Silver Collection? (It's something like that.) I have a poster of Horse Feathers in my office, because it nicely satirizes college in the States, but Monkey Business might be the best besides Duck Soup.
So many great moments in this comedy and my favorite moments in any Marx Brothers movie are between Groucho and Margaret Dumont.

"Let me out, let me out out of here or throw me a magazine!"
Groucho after getting locked in a bathroom.
Didn't get any more Groucho that that.
The best Marx brothers movie!
I think I agree. However, working at a university, "Horse Feathers" hits close to home for me.
How come a video of this quality has so few views? RUclips is a weird place. Great work, sir!
thank you.
My Favorite Marx Brothers movie. Probably, along with Airplane, the funniest movie ever made
Would you consider doing an analysis over Elem Klimovs’ “Come and see”?
yes. I'll get the Criterion Bluray, coming out this June. thank you for the suggestion.
made the same year when Hitler came to power... unlike Hitler, this movie will be loved for the ages...

Not even when they rig the draft and send Harpo off to the war and he goes into the closet full of munitions? Oh well.

Great video. I have a box set of their films. I watched duck soup ahwile ago but haven't watched any others. What is your second fav of their films?
