As a Westerner I never heard much about Indian diplomacy. Until 2022 when Jaishankar turned up and put all those European politicians and Journos in their place. That was (and still is) delightful.
Now is a good time to expand India's diplomatic footprint as it would be appreciated by many smaller countries who seek to avoid being drawn into the China-US cold war. And it goes without saying that India should replace UK on the Security Council.

True but glib talk does not equal to quality diplomacy and foreign policy. India lags far behind diplomatically and only seems to be good in interviews. What matters more is the reach and the ability to increase soft power. People think India's foreign minister is great just by looking at his interviews and not at his policies. His policies are barely sub par.

True India hasn't invested much in foreign diplomacy till now. Nowadays a great time to start, Everyone loves the present government .. and they really care about the people as they are a reaction to the past looting ministries.

Lots of thought has to go into it. Just as in the case of Agniveers , we will need a 360 degree assessment and then only implementation should be attempted.

Every Indian diplomat should case study the foreign countries economy growth, technology, military ties, natural resources, conflicts of the country so that india can strike a deal in related to trade, setup industries in foreign countries. If india invest in industries(foreign countries) along with indian corporate, hence indian get easily jobs and the product can sell in India with indian rupees. Our forex will reduce.

India should not compare with Australia. Australia hardly has 7 big cities which have well established infrastructure already. India still needs a lot of physical infrastructure to keep up with growing demand. Also, some of Indian major cities, have a population each of 1-Australia (20+ million). India has massive financial disparity demograph, which needs to be overcome while Australia does not have that issue. Basically Australia can afford to put that much money, while India's story is different.
