They wanted Jeff Hardy to be the next champion and win it at BFG but if that were to happen then there would of been no Roode vs Storm so I guess it kinda does make sense.
@@RockApe_ yeah, I think Jeff had a contact renewal coming up and winning the belt was part of it. That also meant turning Aries heel, which was a bad move. And if I recall correctly, Jeff then debuted his awful Jeff Hardy belt after beating Aries. It was just misstep after misstep. And if they wanted to get the X Division title off Aries without him losing it, having him “cash it in” for this title match made a ton of sense. But him winning the match made ZERO sense. It’s just unbelievable how bad this was handled, all the while a yearlong payback storyline with Roode vs Storm and they just F it up. The more I think about it, the more insane it is. You could have gotten the X belt off Aries via this cash-in, kept him strong with Roode cheating to win, set up a rematch between them later, and had Storm get his redemption and win the belt while doing it.
Yet, he got hosed in the WWE to keep Neville over. Typical WWE, "hey, great wrestler, why don't you come to the WWE and help make a guy we already have look better while at the same time we promise to tank your career." Hey, Vince, that sounds like the bestest idea evar"
