To think they passed over Bach for this guy. Though, this rendition certainly makes a strong case for that prioritization. Nice seeing (and hearing) you over at 8-bit!
Cheers mate, I really appreciate that! I think they were both giants, with some pretty divergent output. I don't think you'll find anything quite like the Art of Fugue in Telemann's work, nor anything quite like Telamann's Flute Fantasias in Bach's output!
Right, that came off with some shade at Telemann which isn't warranted. His Flute Fantasias were actually quite a revelation to me, because you find him composing fugues in some of them! Up until then I thought Bach was the only Baroque composer trying for polyphonic expression in one-voice instruments; the c-minor prelude of the cello suites for instance. Incidentally, I think Telemann's fantasias would sound amazing on EWI, especially in your interpretation! But then again, most solo repertoire does. Seeing how you tackled Bach's _chromatic_ _fantasy_ on a god damned _bass_ _clarinet_ I'm to this day fully convinced that you can do anything. Like, you could probably perform anything from the Well-tempered Clavier or Telemann's 500 chorales _in_ _one_ _take,_ and so far you've just edited your contrapuntal videos to make it look like you're realizing and recording the voices independently. Cheers.
Haha, thank you! I try! I've had a go at some of the fantasias on EWI in the past, but funnily enough, they're harder to make work than a lot of the cello suite movements, in my opinion. I certainly wouldn't be against returning to them in the future!
👍
Cheers! :)
