    I think Oregon will be fine but probably wont go undefeated. Maybe the bigger story was how well some of the other Big Ten teams played. Really impressed with the depth while watching some of the best Big Ten teams. Even teams like Maryland, Indiana, and Purdue looked good. I think Purdue with a 5 Star QB and multiple Georgia/Sec transfers are going to give Notre Dame all they can handle at home in a couple weeks.

    "Toned down gamelan". Even if it was a "toned down gamelan", wouldn't you still want to block? It was nothing toned up or toned down. It was a porous offensive line with no time. That's it. End of story

  • @dariusp257
    @dariusp257 Месяц назад +6

    Something is up with the O line. You just don't have 4 starters from last year get overpowered by Idaho. Regardless of the scheme and the changes, that is just an issue of strength and agility. Idaho bullied them and that is concerning. Washington did the same to them twice last year and it cost Oregon two games. They recruited well on the O line, put some of the new kids in. Oregon always hesitates to give new players some game time. Let's see McRoy, lets see Brooks, and Crader. Put them in. It was just Idaho. Maybe some in game competition is what these guys need to kick them in the a** and get them going. The O line does not have a leader. They are all timid, soft spoke guys. They need a dog in the O line that will be able to pick them up when they start making mental mistakes and are just not on their game. Brooks is young but with some confidence he can definitely be that dog they need.

    • @McChadwickable
      @McChadwickable Месяц назад +1

      They have not recruited well along the O line- that’s been the issue. Conerly and Pancho are the only ones Dan hit on, and only Pancho for Terry. Terry can’t recruit.

      @@McChadwickable You don't know what the fuck you are talking about. OL hasn't been an issue in any sense, except for this one game sample, the first game of the season and a limited playbook. You really need to go back to school or something. Someone needs to teach you not to say stupid shit on the internet. Someone needs to do an intervention in your life for the sake of humanity.

    So... here's what worries me. Now PFF isn't "Truth" but just based on the PFF grades Marcus Harper and Charlie Pikard performed right in line or slightly better than their 2023 season performance. Josh Conerly and Poncho had a pretty poor pass blocking game. In fact the Idaho game would be good for their second worst game of pass blocking from last season. Ajani Cornelius had a poor night for pass and run blocking but he had worse games last year.
    Is the O-line just inconsistent and this was bad luck to have 3 starters have bad games or are there serious concerns with the composition or play calling? I know the Oregon O-line is generally considered to be a better pass blocking than a run blocking line and JPJ is a significant loss on that front but I really hope this is a statistical fluke or the O-line secretly had the Flu.

    Entire O line looked slow and no physicality. Friend of mine sat right behind where the O lineman were on the bench. He said they were gassed from the beginning. No energy. He noted the poor performance when we played Georgia the first game and he thinks Lanning is wearing out the O line the way he's emphasizing the physicality. Who knows but they looked second rate.

    I didn't see leadership or confidence on the offense except from Tez Johnson. I think they will get better, but it needs to start at QB. It looked like the QB and offensive line thought their superior talent would take care of everything, but obviously if the other side plays together it matters.
    Oregon didn't adjust well at all to the Idaho defensive line and linebacker calls, in fact it looked like Idaho was ignored. It reminded me of Cristobal calling a run behind Sewell on 4th and one everytime. The entire defense knew it was coming and had 11 guys waiting right there each time. Then rinse & repeat.
    Boise has the tape of this last game and I'm certain they will try to confuse whoever Oregon has at Center, and Dillon Gabriel needs a crash course on what to expect.
    The fact that Oregon's defense was strong against Idaho gave the offense so many extra chances they will not likely get against Boise St.

    Guys, you need to take a breath here. Georgia Southern scored 45 points, put up 461 yards of offense. GS qb threw for 322 yards. Boise State trailed in the game 4 times. Boise had 1 TD in the air. They were wildly erratic. If GS scores in the first quarter they win. Boise dbs and special teams are terrible. You're giving them far, far too much credit. Boise should've won by 30. If GS has even a mediocre defense this game is completely different.

    I just re-watched the game…the offensive line was ridiculously bad and DG played way too safe…but, we almost always huddled and never ran tempo, had very few incompletions and rarely got out of bounds…so, the low score can also be attributed to just eating a ton of clock the whole game, which makes me feel slightly better.
