I recently started learning languages on my own, and I am now advanced level in Dutch (written Dutch, at least) and, it’s like, I can feel this joy inside whenever I hear someone saying something in Dutch (or in Afrikaans, which is very close to Dutch) because the Dutch words are so pretty (as pretty as the English words) and, Dutch is definitely the easiest language to learn, especially for an English speaker - I learned over 8.000 base words in Dutch in about 3 or 4 months, plus I’ve also been learning Norwegian and Swedish and Welsh and French and German and many other languages!
Languages I know... - Modern English + Scottish dialect + Middle English (writer level / 60k to 100k words) - Spanish (native speaker level / over 10k base words) - Dutch (advanced level / over 8.000 base words) - Norwegian / Swedish (intermediate level / around 3.500 words in each) - Portuguese (I can understand almost everything because I know Spanish / and intermediate level at writing and actual vocab etc) I also know over 2.000 words in French and over 1.000 words in Italian / Latin / German (so, upper beginner level in these 4 languages) and 400+ words in Welsh (recently started learning Welsh and Breton and the other Celtic languages) and also recently started learning new words in those languages and in many new Germanic languages (and Latin languages like Gallo / Catalan / Galician etc) because there are over 38 languages on my list of languages I want to learn and improve!

It seems like Spanish is very popular everywhere - I can speak Spanish since childhood (native speaker level / more than 10.000 words) even though it’s not really my first language, but it’s like my 2nd first language, if that makes any sense, and also learned Dutch (recently) and, still trying to improve my vocab in Spanish and in Dutch and in the other languages I’m learning!
Hey everyone!
Perhaps you noticed already... I really enjoy learning about people's languages and cultures!
What languages do you speak? 🤔
I speak 4 languages. My native language is English. The other 3 languages that I can speak are Bosnian, German, and Arabic. What about you?
Ah I'm pretty jealous! I speak English, and I try to speak Spanish and German but I must say it's tough to maintain!

Mucha gente sabe español en Cambridge, no me esperaba tanta. Me pregunto cuántos de ellos lo tienen como lengua materna.
