@@4golfing An Android box is a onetime purchase, then you install apps and access movies, tv etc. Then there is IPTV and that’s a subscription service and there are hundreds to choose from in that regard but generally that monthly subscription service price can vary from $5 to $30 a month depending on packages and provider! Hi, Great review and I bought the Yellow topped one, gigabit lan based on your recommendation. Great box and very fast but have found that I have high temp. when streaming movies in Kodi. Have bought a fan and this works great keeps temp below 60deg. Only annoying problem is when I shutdown it restarts automatically and I have to unplug the power to turn it off. Looked for firmware update but can't find one.
i have alot of android boxes. i found flipping them upside down and running them that way they dont overheat. they still get pretty warm but they dont shut down.
All boxes running the mobile version can copy and paste with a mouse pointer. In any text or search field press and hold the OK button or the left click mouse button, then adjust the quotation marks to select your text. click copy. Then press and hold again in a blank text box or search field to paste. Use file browser such as the FX File explorer for easy copy and paste of files, folders, and media.
Is it possible to activate "always on VPN" in Android Network settings. Im asking because regular TV boxes woking on "Android TV"OS, don't have that setting
I cannot answer that question correctly because I mostly use a VPN app which is proton VPN available on the Android TV play store. But I seldom use a VPN continuously.
Thank you for another great detailed and thorough introduction on this box. I've got the box and it works just like how you described, there's just one thing I could not find is how to switch (Home) launcher? I tried everywhere but couldn't find the home display button to change anything, I suppose I could go to the launcher app and clear storage contents but I believe that would also clear the customization on that very launcher which I don't want. Hope you can help Thanks again.
OK install APKpure, from APKpure install Nova launcher/ADW launcher 2 as a second option. You also have to install the "Menu Button" navigation bar from APKpure. The home button on the bar gives you the selection to switch launchers. I believe the home button on the remote does also.

I have already installed ugoo launcher and it works fine just can't find a way to change unless uninstall and reinstall again but it should not work like that!
Oh sorry my bad yes this box comes with it's own nav bar. However, for those reading this that is the procedure to follow if your box does not have a nav bar.
hi Nick is the same box as transpeed as look exactly the same and specs. thanks as aliexpress has them around £23. same goes for the t95x4. i have about 4 boxes as like to mess around and test them each year. i found these chinese boxes under many brands are better that my minix u22. i had to go back to my old air x3 as the box i got last year x96 max plus ultra wouldnt save the res and annoyed me, so it sits with the minix in a cupboard

Found this update for my firmware which is still 2021.. Hopefully this is suitable for my box... HK1 RBOX X4 Firmware for Android TV Box with S905X4 SoC As we said at the beginning, the firmware is available as a PC upgrade / .img file version (you must do a flash method to update the firmware, use the Amlogic Flash tool). New firmware for HK1 RBOX X4 TV Box with Amlogic S905X4 SoC, update 20220305 can be downloaded here.

I try not to think about it too much. I've learned just to wait until someone calls me and say they have a new model running S908X. I have anxiety issues from worrying too much, so I take things as they come.
Very good presentation!the box is very good but its temperature reaches 90*c...very hot... Also shutdown doesn't work. It reboots afterwards. You can only set it on sleep mode.
What I could understand, the cons of the box is 1. Overheating to about 70 degrees 2. The quality for playing certain apps will downgraded. 3. Uncertainty in connecting thro Ethernet port and connect ing the Bluetooth devices. In case unfortunately somebody gets all these annoying problems simultaneously, ,he may have to repent buying such a stuff. There is no point in viewing some movie in lower quality, if the same is available in better quality. One does not buy a tv box only for getting a fast response. Kindly correct me if I am mistaken.

good box, wish I could find better launcher similar to Android OS, can't move any or the main screen apps or change them out, but can use + at bottom to add row of apps at bottom of screen
Sure you can install the ADW launcher 2 and use it without issues. Sideloaded using APK pure or Aptoide. Or you can simply downloaded APK to a pen drive and install it directly from the pen drive connected to your box.
What a great video about this excellent tv box! I enjoyed seeing its qualities, such as speed, use of Vulkan, AV1 and new dolby technologies. The developer has optimized performance. As for the not-so-good things you've shown are overheating, the Ethernet which is not Gigabit but Fast Ethernet and the bluetooth malfunction. But overall, it's a great value for money, I really liked it! Now, if someone wants a device exclusively to use CoreELEC or EmuELEC, they should not choose this tv box, because its SoC (S905X4) is not supported, as well as the tv box with the SoC S905Y4.
Great video! I'm surprised this video was just came out several days ago. This TV Box isn't available in my country yet, but what's available is HK1 RBOX X4 (its sibling?), anyway, are those two boxes are really different? HW wise, it's kinda same, powered by S905X4. And with its pricing, it's really tempting.
You know, it's kinda strange that the RBOX X4 has a 1000 Mbps gigabit LAN port and this one has a 100Mbps not gigabit LAN port. And I believe that is the only difference in the two models. You can expect both of them to have the same operating system and features. I can't say what else the previous model has as I do not have that model with me

Screen orientation to portrait mode serves one major purpose, and that is to use on a vertical displays. Those are displays-in shopping malls. So you simply connect the TV Box with the Lord your application rotate the screen to portrait mode and it will fit the vertical display perfectly to display your ad.
Amazing review as always you haven't mentioned in the chart if it does have heating issues or not and what would you pick between hk1 rbox x4 or X96 x4
This model has borderline overheating during gaming, due to tiny ventilation holes below. So a cooling fan is recommended. While watching movies and TV shows there is no overheating.

@@tvboxstop yeah the x4 is technically the bigger brother of the x4s everything is the same except the lowest Ram/storage capacity is less in the x4s at 2gb/16 while the x4 starts at 4/32 the packaging is also different from what I've noticed so yeah in terms of cooling and performance ill take your advice and get the hk1 x4 thanks !

These are the best keymapping apps available that are compatible with PUBG and other battery Royal games without getting you banned. However the apps are not free it's around $3 to access its full features. I advised that you purchase it because it really works. However keep in mind it only works on boxes that are rooted. You are safe using it on this box because it is rooted.

Thank you and welcome. This box is good for streaming movies and TV shows. It is susceptible to overheating depending on where you leave it, you will get up to 4K resolution only not 8K. I assume that you selected this box based on its price, however, if you are looking for a better model you can look at the Ugoos X4Q Pro, the TOX3, and the latest Ugoos AM8. These are more expensive models but they and performance and durability is better than this model. And if you are looking for root access and the navigation bar, you will not get that on this box but in the other models mentioned.

I've seen all 3 of your videos covering the aforementioned models (and checked your spreadsheet) but I'm having problems deciding, [] HK1 has wifi and bluetooth issues, [] X96 Playstore problems, [] A95X slight kneecaped performance, but no overheating issues _Which would you recommend out of these 3?_

so hi im really not into those stuff and i don't really know how these devices work to be honest but i've got the hk1 rbox and i've been facing the same problem for days. The light on the box is always blue and when i turn my tv on the HDMI the box is connected to my screen turn white and a logo shows up saying "HK1 RBOX" and that's it. nothing moves. i can't tap any buttons on the controller and i checked all the plugs and im sure the problem is not there. can somebody please help me tho?
If the box is stuck on the Logo screen then it's either the box is busted or the firmware is corrupted and needs a reset. Using a toothpick inside the AV port hole there is a button at the base. Use the toothpick and the press and hold the reset button, and while holding plug in the power cable and continue holding until you see the black recovery screen giving you the option to restore to factory default. Using the up and down buttons on the stock remote choose factory default option to reset the box. Hope this works, if it doesn't then the box is busted.
No it's not Google certified, and the reason it looks like that is because it's a hybrid firmware comprising of an Android TV OS operating system with the mobile version of Android features

There are two things to consider when the games keep crashing on your box. The first one is that it's running out of memory (RAM) during gameplay which will cause the game to crash. The second one is the CPU is overheating which may cause the game to crash or the box to reboot automatically. After looking at your model I discovered that you bought into the Android 13 (Bright Lights) thinking that you were purchasing a latest model. Truth in fact what you actually purchased hardware from over four years ago. The CPU the RK 3528 and the Mali 450 GPU are from the early days when I started making videos. One person offered me a box with this hardware to do a video and I immediately was appalled by its performance. So I recommend you get something much more powerful to play Android games. I have this but not google certified. How to make it certified? I tried kingroot, iroot etc but none of them do the positive results. The device security is too strong according to message flash on the screen. Any idea how to root this device to make google certified? Firstly don't waste your time trying to root any Android TV Box because they always ensure you cannot do it. However rooting an Android TV Box is not a requirement to gain certification. The matter of fact a box needs to be not rooted with Google Widevine level I and HDCP 2.2 or 2.3 to be certified also it has to be full Android TV OS. This box will never be certified sorry about that.

Yes it can but you would need a custom firmware of the mobile version of Android. At this point, I have no sources that provide a custom firmware for it that the mobile version. There is only custom firmware for the Android TV version - slimboxtv.ru/?s=X4S
For this same X4S model but it's PO Android TV OS instead of a hybrid version. I don't recommend installing this unless you absolutely want to change the hybrid firmware.

Yes the X4 has a gigabit LAN while the X4S does not. What you have to look at is their operating systems and firmware features to determine which one is better. It appears that the X4 is the better model.

Hello my friend. What is the difference between this hk1 rbox x4s and the hk1 rbox x4s. Box boxes look very similar, same specs, same super fast ui but the x4s has the 1000 Wi-Fi instead of 100. Maybe that will fix the internet problems? Please can you get hold of and review the hk1 rbox x4 please. As I'm not sure which model is the newest or the better box.

Hi Nick... I bought this box after reading the review here. So far everything works OK except for Google Play Store. I can scroll up and down and click on the the suggested channels to watch. However, both the Search button and the Profile button do not work at all (non clickable). Any suggestion on how I can resolve this issue? Thank you.
Update - after fiddling with it for a while, it seems that it does work with the bundled IR remote control but not with an ordinary USB mouse. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
The Android TV version of the play store is designed to work with a direction pad. You can select certain things with a pointer, but search and entering text is controlled my a direction pad. No only fro the stock remote but from any other air mouse.
@@tvboxstop I also installed HD Movies app from google play but it won't start the app. It says server is under maintenance but on other device it worked without issues... I tried it by almost several weeks now. I even reinstall the app but still the same issue...

I would go with the Hk1 RBOX X4. Reason Android 11, 64bit, very fast, root access, cheap price, AV1 decoding. MI box too low end outdated, and the X96 X4 no root and no 64bit

It's root access would allow you to uninstall any app off of this box once it's not directly related to its root files system or would compromise the operating system itself. But you can install any other app or bloatware app you don't like.
When i bought this box it was advertised as an android tv box . i have an android tv but they are useless only made for tv by the tv companies and most apps do not work on them , only really useful for streaming . When i chatted to the company they tell me this is not an android tv box but a box with a android tv system in it and was no good for what i wanted. I got an old desktop plugged into my tv and perfect no problems use mouse and keyboard . i have come to the conclusion android systems are use less for tv . better off getting winows box or old pc
TV boxes do indeed run Android but there are different versions of Android for mobile devices, and therefore streaming devices. This box in particular as a hybrid from way where it has the Android TV as its base operating system modified with a launcher interface from the mobile version. So what you are looking to install apps from the mobile version of the play store, lots of apps will be missing. However you can sideload all of them and it will work.

Yes it does. However, I tried updating Google Play Services and it wouldn't update, but I had no issues installing apps. There is the wireless updates feature available, weather they release updates is another question by itself.

Yes I did 23:29 I used the latest Antutu V9.1.8 so the score would be slightly higher than the Version 8.4.4 that I usually used on the others. 8.4.4 does not run on this box.

Then you should looking at the Ugoos AM6B-Plus, The Beelink GT King, Minix U22-XJ, Magicsee N6 Plus. Those should cover you streaming and gaming needs

oh yes, the animation speed settings is in developer options. set it 1x for normal speed. current settings is too fast.

It's not possible on this firmware. I would take a whole new custom firmware to get that. Unfortunately, there is not available at this time.

I've got the box and it works just like how you described, there's just one thing I could not find is how to switch (Home) launcher? I tried everywhere but couldn't find the home display button to change anything, I suppose I could go to the launcher app and clear storage contents but I believe that would also clear the customization on that very launcher which I don't want. Hope you can help Thanks again.
OK install APKpure, from APKpure install Nova launcher/ADW launcher 2 as a second option. You also have to install the "Menu Button" navigation bar from APKpure. The home button on the bar gives you the selection to switch launchers. I believe the home button on the remote does also.
@@tvboxstop thanks for your response, I've tried the remote home but that doesn't work. This very box comes with a navigation bar, by installing another one would it crash from each other? I have already installed ugoo launcher and it works fine just can't find a way to change unless uninstall and reinstall again but it should not work like that!
Oh sorry my bad yes this box comes with it's own nav bar. However, for those reading this that is the procedure to follow if your box does not have a nav bar.

hi Nick is the same box as transpeed as look exactly the same and specs. thanks as aliexpress has them around £23. same goes for the t95x4. i have about 4 boxes as like to mess around and test them each year. i found these chinese boxes under many brands are better that my minix u22. i had to go back to my old air x3 as the box i got last year x96 max plus ultra wouldnt save the res and annoyed me, so it sits with the minix in a cupboard

It's not possible on this firmware. I would take a whole new custom firmware to get that. Unfortunately, there is not available at this time.

You are absolutely correct it has to do with its gigabit ethernet LAN where the X4 as a gigabit LAN and the X4S does not
Wish Amlogic would get there act together and release the s908x which is the successor to s922x. It was announced way back in 2019 !
I try not to think about it too much. I've learned just to wait until someone calls me and say they have a new model running S908X. I have anxiety issues from worrying too much, so I take things as they come.
Very good presentation!the box is very good but its temperature reaches 90*c...very hot... Also shutdown doesn't work. It reboots afterwards. You can only set it on sleep mode.

What I could understand, the cons of the box is
1. Overheating to about 70 degrees
2. The quality for playing certain apps will downgraded.
3. Uncertainty in connecting thro Ethernet port and connect ing the Bluetooth devices.
In case unfortunately somebody gets all these annoying problems simultaneously, ,he may have to repent buying such a stuff. There is no point in viewing some movie in lower quality, if the same is available in better quality. One does not buy a tv box only for getting a fast response. Kindly correct me if I am mistaken.

Sure you can install the ADW launcher 2 and use it without issues. Sideloaded using APK pure or Aptoide. Or you can simply downloaded APK to a pen drive and install it directly from the pen drive connected to your box.

What a great video about this excellent tv box! I enjoyed seeing its qualities, such as speed, use of Vulkan, AV1 and new dolby technologies. The developer has optimized performance.
As for the not-so-good things you've shown are overheating, the Ethernet which is not Gigabit but Fast Ethernet and the bluetooth malfunction.
But overall, it's a great value for money, I really liked it!
Now, if someone wants a device exclusively to use CoreELEC or EmuELEC, they should not choose this tv box, because its SoC (S905X4) is not supported, as well as the tv box with the SoC S905Y4.

This TV Box isn't available in my country yet, but what's available is HK1 RBOX X4 (its sibling?), anyway, are those two boxes are really different? HW wise, it's kinda same, powered by S905X4. And with its pricing, it's really tempting.
You know, it's kinda strange that the RBOX X4 has a 1000 Mbps gigabit LAN port and this one has a 100Mbps not gigabit LAN port. And I believe that is the only difference in the two models. You can expect both of them to have the same operating system and features. I can't say what else the previous model has as I do not have that model with me

Screen orientation to portrait mode serves one major purpose, and that is to use on a vertical displays. Those are displays-in shopping malls. So you simply connect the TV Box with the Lord your application rotate the screen to portrait mode and it will fit the vertical display perfectly to display your ad.
Amazing review as always you haven't mentioned in the chart if it does have heating issues or not and what would you pick between hk1 rbox x4 or X96 x4
This model has borderline overheating during gaming, due to tiny ventilation holes below. So a cooling fan is recommended. While watching movies and TV shows there is no overheating.

The RBOX X4S I am not sure about the X4. Between the X4S and the X96 X4 the firmware in the X4S is much better.
@@tvboxstop yeah the x4 is technically the bigger brother of the x4s everything is the same except the lowest Ram/storage capacity is less in the x4s at 2gb/16 while the x4 starts at 4/32 the packaging is also different from what I've noticed so yeah in terms of cooling and performance ill take your advice and get the hk1 x4 thanks !

These are the best keymapping apps available that are compatible with PUBG and other battery Royal games without getting you banned. However the apps are not free it's around $3 to access its full features. I advised that you purchase it because it really works. However keep in mind it only works on boxes that are rooted. You are safe using it on this box because it is rooted.

My box actually keeps looping when I select turn off. It basically does a restart. I wonder what causes this issue.
When you press the power button on the remote or press and hold the power button and select shutdown? I got that on another box and it only shuts down if it tap the power button once.

Thank you and welcome. This box is good for streaming movies and TV shows. It is susceptible to overheating depending on where you leave it, you will get up to 4K resolution only not 8K. I assume that you selected this box based on its price, however, if you are looking for a better model you can look at the Ugoos X4Q Pro, the TOX3, and the latest Ugoos AM8. These are more expensive models but they and performance and durability is better than this model. And if you are looking for root access and the navigation bar, you will not get that on this box but in the other models mentioned.

The A95X would be the best choice the the Play Store issues can be problem. Both X96 and HK1 has limited Play Store

so hi im really not into those stuff and i don't really know how these devices work to be honest but i've got the hk1 rbox and i've been facing the same problem for days. The light on the box is always blue and when i turn my tv on the HDMI the box is connected to my screen turn white and a logo shows up saying "HK1 RBOX" and that's it. nothing moves. i can't tap any buttons on the controller and i checked all the plugs and im sure the problem is not there. can somebody please help me tho?
If the box is stuck on the Logo screen then it's either the box is busted or the firmware is corrupted and needs a reset. Using a toothpick inside the AV port hole there is a button at the base. Use the toothpick and the press and hold the reset button, and while holding plug in the power cable and continue holding until you see the black recovery screen giving you the option to restore to factory default. Using the up and down buttons on the stock remote choose factory default option to reset the box. Hope this works, if it doesn't then the box is busted.

No it's not Google certified, and the reason it looks like that is because it's a hybrid firmware comprising of an Android TV OS operating system with the mobile version of Android features

There are two things to consider when the games keep crashing on your box. The first one is that it's running out of memory (RAM) during gameplay which will cause the game to crash. The second one is the CPU is overheating which may cause the game to crash or the box to reboot automatically.
After looking at your model I discovered that you bought into the Android 13 (Bright Lights) thinking that you were purchasing a latest model. Truth in fact what you actually purchased hardware from over four years ago. The CPU the RK 3528 and the Mali 450 GPU are from the early days when I started making videos. One person offered me a box with this hardware to do a video and I immediately was appalled by its performance. So I recommend you get something much more powerful to play Android games. I choose the HK1 RBOX X4 because it has all the right ingredients I need. eg. Root access, firmware features, CPU speed 2.0GHz, Android 11 and more.
I have this but not google certified. How to make it certified? I tried kingroot, iroot etc but none of them do the positive results. The device security is too strong according to message flash on the screen. Any idea how to root this device to make google certified? I can't play other streaming media 'cause of this limitation.. thanks for the help!
Firstly don't waste your time trying to root any Android TV Box because they always ensure you cannot do it. However rooting an Android TV Box is not a requirement to gain certification. The matter of fact a box needs to be not rooted with Google Widevine level I and HDCP 2.2 or 2.3 to be certified also it has to be full Android TV OS. This box will never be certified sorry about that.

The official Miracast application does not work so you will have to use Android's default screen mirroring function via the Airscreen app or other.
They could have set the animator scale at 0 or .5, window scale 0 and transition at 0 in developer options to get it switch so fast.

What is the difference between this hk1 rbox x4s and the hk1 rbox x4s.
Box boxes look very similar, same specs, same super fast ui but the x4s has the 1000 Wi-Fi instead of 100.
Maybe that will fix the internet problems?

I bought this box after reading the review here. So far everything works OK except for Google Play Store. I can scroll up and down and click on the the suggested channels to watch. However, both the Search button and the Profile button do not work at all (non clickable). Any suggestion on how I can resolve this issue? Thank you.
Update - after fiddling with it for a while, it seems that it does work with the bundled IR remote control but not with an ordinary USB mouse. Has anyone else experienced the same issue?
The Android TV version of the play store is designed to work with a direction pad. You can select certain things with a pointer, but search and entering text is controlled my a direction pad. No only fro the stock remote but from any other air mouse.

You can sign in to Netflix on the TV Box you have to sideload the APK version of the app. Don't try to update it just cancel and sign in.
@@tvboxstop I also installed HD Movies app from google play but it won't start the app. It says server is under maintenance but on other device it worked without issues... I tried it by almost several weeks now. I even reinstall the app but still the same issue...

The ability to play 4K videos smoothly depends on your Internet speed, and the source you are streaming from. Also there is no upscaling on this box.

It's root access would allow you to uninstall any app off of this box once it's not directly related to its root files system or would compromise the operating system itself. But you can install any other app or bloatware app you don't like.

When i bought this box it was advertised as an android tv box . i have an android tv but they are useless only made for tv by the tv companies and most apps do not work on them , only really useful for streaming . When i chatted to the company they tell me this is not an android tv box but a box with a android tv system in it and was no good for what i wanted.
I got an old desktop plugged into my tv and perfect no problems use mouse and keyboard . i have come to the conclusion android systems are use less for tv . better off getting winows box or old pc
TV boxes do indeed run Android but there are different versions of Android for mobile devices, and therefore streaming devices. This box in particular as a hybrid from way where it has the Android TV as its base operating system modified with a launcher interface from the mobile version. So what you are looking to install apps from the mobile version of the play store, lots of apps will be missing. However you can sideload all of them and it will work.

Yes it does. However, I tried updating Google Play Services and it wouldn't update, but I had no issues installing apps. There is the wireless updates feature available, weather they release updates is another question by itself.

Nice review on this tv box… I have one myself but my date and time keeps resetting after every reboot. Is there any fix for that?
No I don't have a fix that will be firmware bug. I guess you have already tried setting it manually?

Did you do AnTuTu tests?
Yes I did 23:29 I used the latest Antutu V9.1.8 so the score would be slightly higher than the Version 8.4.4 that I usually used on the others. 8.4.4 does not run on this box.

Yes it's the same model, but not the same firmware or service as the Tanggula X5
