- The most popular of Johann Piefke's marches and one of the most famous, if not the most famous, German military marches.
The work was written in 1871, at the end of the Franco-Prussian War, in honor of the victory of Prussia and the unification of Germany. The march was first performed in Frankfurt an der Oder during the solemn parade of the Life Grenadier "King Friedrich Wilhelm III" regiment, which returned from the front. It was in this regiment at that time that Pifke served as bandmaster.
Why do I feel patriotism to a country that no longer exists
I, too
Because the prussian spirit is embodied in every human; Prussia was a great community because of the diversity, humanity and strength, that doesnt go away just because the nation hides behind other, better, names, prussia is still a great example for what people can do if they work together
…Specially when their balls have been chopped off by American Occupation since 1945…🔪🇩🇪🔪🇺🇸
@@dirkgensecke Well said. For all its faults, the old Kingdom of Prussia had many highly admirable virtues modern people should not reject out of hand.
Plus their uniforms and music were dope af.
and there is the where its getting difficult: what the state demandend, what a country needs and what frederick the great wanted, is in controversy, he wanted the individual to succeed and prosper whatever the circumstances, but he had to keep his army marching for that...
Great!!
