He is as strong as a saibamen, he is weirdly cautious due to the fact that he is so miniscule against his peers, he chose his battles, he is reminded easily of his shittyness so yeah, he doesn't have a chance to develop a Saiyan pride if he doesnt feel pride anymore

They show that he trained with chi chi but chi chi shouldn't be enough of a challenge to push him. In my opinion (and a lot of other fans opinion) this is when the show got really bad and is one of many reasons why the majin buu arc was the worst in the series.
