LGR will continue, I'm doing okay! If you're looking to send support though, others in Western NC need way more help than me so please consider donations to local organizations helping out: www.bpr.org/bpr-news/2024-09-28/list-ways-to-donate-and-help-flood-victims-in-western-north-carolina-after-hurricane-helene
This edition of LGR Cribs is an unfortunate episode. I hope the restoration is quick, painless, and thouroughly covered by insurance. Most adjusters dont seem to understand that the loss was equivalent to a museum of antiques.
Buddy, I know the collector's feelings when all is kinda lost and/or stolen. It sucks. Anyway, well, I believe the collection can always be replaced, but not the lives. I am glad to hear the community is coming together to help each other. Overall, I am also glad that you are all right, and you have hope to continue with your LGR channel and any other goals you may have. Don't give up, and keep on going. 😁🤜🤛💪👍🖖
Glad most stuff survived. You may feel a little funny about this channel and community with all the death and destruction surrounding you right now, but let me assure you your videos mean a lot to me and a lot of others around. There's probably thousands of LGR viewers affected by these storms, and the news of your collection making it will surely be a ray of hope to them.
Thank you, and yeah I do feel a bit strange about it. Seeing the sheer devastation even just down the road from me is sobering, it really puts you in your place, so to speak. I truly am lucky with this outcome and community, and I will do my best not to squander that or take it for granted :)
I’m glad it was not worse.Like you said you can fix your home, unfortunately we lost so many from Helene,I pray things get fixed for others, that they get help to start anew.❤
@@LGR Brother, I just want to say how truly inspiring your strength is in the face of everything you've been through. I know it's a relief that no one was harmed, but still, having your home and collection wrecked is no easy thing to handle. Most people would struggle, and that would be completely understandable. But seeing you stay strong, pushing forward with resilience and determination to rebuild, it speaks volumes about your character. You're showing such courage, and it's moving. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family as you work through this.
Weirdest episode of LGR Thrifts yet. Sincerely, though, I'm so happy you're okay. When my daughter was teeny-tiny and allergic to sleep, I'd put on your videos and she'd conk right out to the sound of your voice. Your channel's been my go-to when I wake up in the middle of the night with panic attacks. You've been a consistent part of me and my family's life for the past several years, and I'm glad to see you'll be able to continue doing this LGR thing you do. I hope everything works out well for you and there's the least amount of permanent damage possible!
Ahh that's lovely, I'm happy to hear the videos have proved helpful (and/or monotonous enough, ha) to assist in some much-needed sleep! Thank you for the well wishes and I look forward to continuing more LGR things in the future. Seriously, I'm goin' sorta nuts not being able to create here lately.
@@LGR No need to go nuts. New series: LGR Restores! Opening up electronics and checking for water damage and ensuring they still work. :) Especially if you know a thing or two about soldering. - On a more serious note, don't downplay the importance of a chill video. Content without random volume spikes and yelling is getting rare, and It helped me doze off after many a stressful day. I nap to other stuff nowadays, but LGR used to be my go to! I'm glad most of the collection survived in one piece and I wish you and yours all the best!
@@LGR I am glad you are doing alright. Clint. If nothing else. I second Recoil's idea, it may prove a good thing to do in the meantime and give people some info on what to do in such cases. If some are able to be repaired and how.
Many have said it already, but watching you restore your collection and clean up any damaged hardware would be extremely interesting to watch; making the best out of something terrible. But only if you are up for that! We are with you through this, Clint, and are excited for any content you treat us with upon your return. Sending all the healing thoughts and well wishes to you and your family.
Certainly a thing I'm planning to do, at least for a bit! Even unboxing the previously-NOS boxed items might be interesting, just to see how they fared.
Seriously, i have some things that i have been wanting to donate to the right person, like a stack of laserdiscs for example. I can't bring myself to throw this stuff away, but i need to do something with it, because i have to get used to taking up less space and make it easier to travel or move... So i hope that this works out in the end. It can, in ways, i mean, i know I'm not the only one who has stuff worth donating. Not to goodwill either.
@@BackflipinBrandon The Google says, "In 2024, the average monthly salary in India is 32,000 Indian Rupees (INR), or 384,000 INR per year. This is equivalent to 382 USD per month." I'd say it's quite generous!
I lost everything in a house fire a couple years ago. My collection was not nearly as big as yours. But i know how it feels to lose everything you've spent time building and collecting. I was lucky though and I got my family out in time. Im glad you are safe buddy.
who made it? Like, is neightboar to blame? I'm affraid of this, no matter how can I try to make it safe, when I see some people around, and their flats full of batteries and connected gas, I'm really feeling unsafe.
@warrax111 No one made it. Fire department determined that my chest freezer compressor had shorted, and the gfci it was plugged into failed. It was a dry week, and we had a hard wind that night. The fire caught the wicker furniture on the patio, and the rest went up like a box of matches. But don't live in fear. Just be careful and make sure you have a plan for situations. Also, renters insurance would not be a bad idea.
I know you said that we should send support to other organizations, but it's you and your channel that brought me much joy in the past and hopefully in the future as well - I never left anything, except likes. This video just breaks my heart, can't imagine how you must feel. Stay safe! Greetings from Austria.
As long as he has deployed proper drying equipment, affected areas are cleaned and other areas quarantined, and basic upkeep, he should be okay. Likely some dehumidifiers and high frequency cleaning in those areas for spore reduction. Mold is a scary mf but WE HAVE THE TECHNOLOGY
My heart goes out to you for having to go through all this, if I was a little closer I'd offer my truck and myself to help, wishing you a fast recovery from Camden, SC.
awesome gesture dude, i recommend in the future to try and not give monetary help using RUclips as they take a large cut of donation, there are other ways to send the whole monetary amount, just my opinion and i mean no offence, either way you did a nice thing!
Electronic equipment damaged by water should be opened, washed with clean water, and have all dirt, mud, etc., removed. Let it dry completely, away from direct sunlight. We did this here in Brazil after the floods and managed to recover many things. Good luck! Igor from Vem de Retro Channel!
+1 to this. I'm also from RS and personally helped to restore a computer that was fully underwater for more than 20 days (and it was a really dirty water, with dead animals and etc.). Sad for the original boxes/manuals/etc., but surely there is hope for the electronics themselves.
Most people don't realize that water isn't inheriently the issue with electronics, it's only damaging usually if power goes through it. If their is no power when stuff is FULLY dried then a lot can survive!
It's also important to open up and let dry optical media such that they're well separated. Otherwise the bootlet or packaging can fuse to the paint and then pull it off clean. Water can also diffuse into the mirror behind the lacquer on the data side and accelerate its degradation and delamination. Battery operated equipment is an issue. Hard disks are an issue. Optical and floppy drives can be rebuilt. Otherwise, electronics survives water ingress if it didn't have to sit moist very long.
I did this with a data terminal that I found in a creek a few years ago. It had a lot of other damage from corrosion and previous damage from wherever it was before being dumped. Still managed to bring it back! There is hope for even the worst machines so don't give up! I've seen Adrian repair some gnarly stuff pretty often on his channel. Maybe you could reach out to him? I would be willing to help, but I don't have much time or space to do any major repairs at the moment.
@@RingingResonance Oh yeah the whole computer restoration community is on it and going to do its best. Lots of people. It's a lot bigger than just Adrian :D
After my grandmother passed, my mother would buy me computer games to play on her old laptop. Your channel is the only one I know of that talks about many of those retro games that got me through some hard times. You not only discuss those games, but have a lot of the same affection for them that I do. Too many RUclipsrs like to crap on old stuff. I used to turn on your playlist of old retro games and smile at the memories of my mom and I spending time together watching old shows on TV while I played games on her laptop. Good luck to you and thanks for the update.
Yes! Channels like this are my favorite- media preservation but also informing others about that media is so special with how quick the internet keeps us moving nowadays!!
Your mom sounded like a great person to not immediately be like "oh those will rot your brain" best wishes man you sounded like you had an okay childhood. I don't wanna say great only because I don't know you personally.
Didn’t realise you were in Asheville. If you need a hand with anything technical in this recovery, I’m a disabled (but fully mobile) computer engineer in Charlotte. I’d be happy to drive up and lend a hand if it’d be at all useful. I also have a large collection of Sun, SGI, and Cisco legacy server systems. I have a ton of surplus, and I’d love to see them go to a good home - especially if you need a hand replacing anything. I can also bring up my tech go bag, with a nice meter, oscilloscope, power supply, cord testers, etc., etc., if that would help. No pressure, I’ve just enjoyed your content for years and would consider it an honour to help you get back online.
I also live in Asheville and I'm glad to see that you and most of the collection are okay! I'm an electrician and if you need help assessing your electrical situation, please reach out. I specialize in both new builds and remodels and would love to help you guys out! Edit: I was fortunate to not have any damage to my property and currently have both power and pressurized water. If anyone in or around the Asheville area needs any supplies, please reach out through a comment and I'll do what I can or find someone who will. We're all in this together around here!
Wow, you're a good person ❤️ Like in a super admirable way. I wish everyone was like you, offering help to others in need. Much love from nordic Europe, we got other kinds of worries over here.. :/ crazy times. Straight up cold war vibes. I hope the world goes back to a more sane place soon. People could use some actual help from their governments all over the world instead of having to spend tons of money and time worrying about legitimate military threats. Sry I went on a bit of a tangent, but yeah stay awesome ❤️ And stay safe!! There are way too few people like you, and more selfish psychos it seems. First thing when a disaster strikes, they go out looting and stealing instead of helping their neighbors.. 😔

Clint, long time watcher and I know it's not much but as the other commenters have said this just breaks my heart. I spent so much time watching your channel and learning from you and I know you must be going through a lot - hopefully this will go to whatever you need right now.
As someone with a disabled parent who collects as a hobby and makes content; but lives in tornado alley. This video really hit the "I should do something" vein in my body. Happy to announce Im upgrading my dads collection and hobby survivability. I know how much it means to him.
Sending much love from Scotland! Watched this whole ordeal on the news and somehow it never dawned on me how much you'd be affected. Keep your head up and keep spreading awareness and support for other victims. Stay strong Clint!!
I've been watching your channel since my son was born. I would watch them while I was taking care of him during his health issues. It's sad to see so much of your awesome collection of things damaged. Truly they are just things and mostly replaceable, I am glad you made it through ok. I had a similar situation with a fire and lost my collection as well. I also lost a family member in that. You will have some awesome content building back up and growing your collection again. I am looking forward to your recovery journey and know that you have a ton of people rooting for you and supporting you!
Ah man, I'm so sorry for your loss. Truly grateful that things weren't any more dire here and I do look forward to the journey ahead, as tricky as it may be. Thank you for your support here, I appreciate it immensely!
Amazing that LGR can even make his property damage video have a nice relaxing tone. Seriously man i can't even imagine how awful it must be to go through something like that but im glad everyones fine. Glad your able to take the situation about as well as anyone can. It takes a truly humble and good man to take inventory and appreciate the things he still has but to even promote a charity over himself is beyond that. God bless
I'm sorry to hear about this Clint. Your channel has brought me so much joy over the years and especially helped keep me sane during grad school. Its not much but I hope this helps. I lived in a basement that would flood sometimes and I've had a package with rare vintage books stolen from me before so I know how it feels to have stuff like this lost. I hope you're doing well
My first thought when I heard what happened to the house was all about the collection and the valuables, but then I realized it could have just of easily been you under those trees. I’m so glad to see you back and posting feels awesome just to hear your voice. Can’t imagine the pain and devastation in your community right now, stay strong man and i hope your life can get back to some sense of normality soon. ❤❤
Even though some things can't be replaced, people are still the top priority. However, I'm very relieved to see that most of what you have spent years to build up have escaped mostly unharmed so a double win.
Clint, my heart breaks for you. I hope that your insurance company is on the ball and that you find the strength to rebuild when it's right for you. We'll be here for you. Godspeed to you sir!
My heart breaks for all the stuff that got ruined, but I'm super happy you're ok. That's all that matters in the end! Wishing you the best in recovering and hope everything gets back to normal sooner rather than later.
Definitely much perspective to be had here, just hearing Clint and seeing him be physically OK struck me emotionally after seeing the devastation in the area.
I can't imagine what you've been through clearing out all the damage and figuring out where LGR goes from here. But your cautious optimism and calm demeanor earn my respect. Onward in the journey of life, thanks for all the videos, and looking forward to some unusual ones ahead! (oh, and I'll donate to the NC orgs as well)
I've never had a major disaster effect me and I always come watch your videos when I wanna relax and watch something. Hoping you (and the other people) get your houses fixed up as soon as possible. 🤝 from Canada.
Hey Clint, Good to hear that you are doing reasonably well. I'm a big fan from Germany and iam never really active in the community. But LGR and so many of your videos have accompanied me over the last few years so it's the least I can do to give something back. I hope that all those affected can be helped sufficiently. Thank you for everything!
I can feel your pain. I'm very glad you are safe. I lost my personal business computer collection and documentation in a house fire 16 years ago. It still hurts.
Never seen your videos in my life, but the outpouring of love and support in the comments is very heartwarming. It hurts to see someone's home and collections torn apart. I hope you and your family are well.
Clint, it breaks my heard to see this. I know you said that we should donate elsewhere (which I already did), but I also wanted to pass something along to you. Ever since I discovered your channel in 2018 in the middle of PhD thesis despair, your content has brought me a lot of happiness. And your work has also inspired me to look to my past and start building my own vintage computers, so I can relive some happy childhood memories. Glad you're ok mate. Very glad. I too once suffered a tree on the house. Damage not as bad as yours at all. The thing you cling to is "but we're fine. We're ok". Take care Clint.
@@jadedheartsz Similar to mine. Ours smashed the main power cable coupling, and the whole front veranda roof, and some of the top floor roof was buckled but not actually broken. One small hole from a branch right through our bedroom wall. Oddly not a single window smashed. Timber frame with concrete panel construction. Oddly it probably would have been worse if it were brick.

You are incredibly resilient, and you are a trooper. I know you can get through this, Clint. Thank you for all you have done over the years.
on a lemonade from lemons idea, if you can get through it, and understand if it would be too hard, but i'd definitely watch some unboxings of the damaged stuff. if anything, it's informative to those of us storing stuff, and may not be taking the best care of it.
I hope you'll see a lot of your collection live once more! It also might be interesting to see some of the recovery efforts on the damaged things. Having that up on youtube may help others that may be in a similar situation.

Our kmee-jerk reaction was worrying about the massive LGR collection, but I think our collective thought quickly shifted to think about if Clint himself was under the tree, or a load bearing beam, a chunk of his roof, we're so happy to see you alive and well, and more happy to see most of the collection survived unscathed.
Clint, I'm really glad to hear you're safe, and I hope you and your neighbors are able to get through this challenging time. It's also great to know that most of your collection is secure. In Bogotá, we don't face those kinds of conditions, but it does make me think about how we can better protect our vintage collections. Perhaps in the future, you could share some guidance on how to safeguard them.
Thank you! And yeah I’ll certainly have some knowledge to share and lessons learned for the future, so it may be a good idea to put them into a future video
This is not specific to collections, but I've found that plastic boxes (like the ones seen at 10:30) do wonders for storing stuff. They protect from dust, water, bugs, overall physical damage from having weight on top and such, and if they're opaque, against UV light as well. And they're easy to stack, move around and organize. Of course, they also hide everything, so you won't be displaying what's inside, but if it's stuff you're not displaying, they're great. For particularly delicate stuff like important documents, Ziploc-style bags inside the plastic box.
I've watched your content for years, even still rock the woodgrain socks. I hope this couple of bucks can help you rebuild and come back even stronger. Thank you for everything you do.
It pains me to see you go through all this, Brother Clint. I'll pray for you and wish you a speedy recovery (not for our, the viewer's, sake- but for yours). It's difficult to comprehend the magnitude of an event like this unless it is firsthand.
Some advice, if youre leaving the items in your basement while renovations happen, seal! Seal the vents, windows, doors etc up to that space. They will be cutting drywall and it will be extremely dusty. It will get everywhere. Best of luck with the rebuild and thanks for the update!
Hey Clint, just wanted to chip in as well, I know there are so many people who have been effected by both of the storms recently. I have been in IT/working with computers since 1990 (built my first system in the early-mid 90's) your channel is awesome and love the video's some of these systems bring me back to my teen years (i'm 44 now) and how I miss some of these old systems. Hopefully this helps get you back on your feet faster so you can get back to making LGR video's for us to enjoy. Thanks again for everything you do with the channel.
Sending a small care package your way - thanks for being a part of my feed over the years and this is just a small way of saying thank you and good luck on the rebuild.
Those new-in-box items are tough to see in that condition... now it'll be 'old in new sealed box' condition, but maybe the packaging saved some of those items, if they had good plastic over them!

Sorry from a fellow retro enthusiast and Laserdisc collector. Glad to hear you're ok, and glad that most of your collection survived. I know it's only 10 Euros but if your player died or you need a new disc, it might help go towards it. Take care! Greetings from an expat in Germany
I know that CDs at least can be surprisingly resilient, as I had found quite few of them near the dumpster exposed to rain and stuff, and they read fine in my PC. Hopefully a cleanup will suffice with the laserdiscs.
I've been watching you since 2009 when I was a kid and you were doing Sims 3 pack reviews. It's been 15 years and I really wanted to thank you for all the hours of content that kept me company throughout my life. I hope you and everyone else affected can recover from this disaster soon!
Seeing this destruction reminds me of the fire in my apartment. I lost about 20 old computers and consoles then. After extinguishing the ashes and checking the losses, I fell into depression. I never rebuilt my collection. I wish you all the best and good luck!
Collections like this are often impossible to rebuild sadly. Which is why I'm glad the majority of his survived. There is often no amount of money that can just buy back years and years of thrifting and lucky finds. You can always start over but it will never be the same. Sorry for your loss too, really sucks.
@@Zestence Yes, because it's usually the time lost to building and thrifting that's most valuable, even more so than the collection itself. Time none of us get back unfortunately but if it made you happy at the time and perhaps even connected you with others like you, then surely it was worth it.

I've been watching the channel for about 7 years now, having found LGR during a rebuild phase of my life. It was a great comfort hearing your dulcet voice wax nostalgic about some games and tech I knew about and many that I didn't, often I would fall asleep to lgr thrifts videos. Hearing that same voice now talk about this terrible situation I'm struck by how you still are able to remain positive and above all grateful for how much you still have after this event. Praying for you. Hopefully things get better for ya'll soon. May God bless ya'll, God loves ya'll. Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
I'm close to Tampa myself. Thankfully Milton didn't decide to turn north and go up the east coast to follow helene. I tell ya, it would have been way worse than what helene did. Just look at the Tropicana stadium as a noteworthy example.

To quote Will Wright from his talks about the 1991 Oakland Firestorm and how that tragedy would eventually inspire The Sims: "I was surprised how I didn’t miss stuff. The fact we got out and none of our family was hurt seemed so much more important." I'm happy to hear you're safe, Clint. LGR is so much more than the individual oddities.

Thank you for the update and also that's so awesome of you to keep giving visibility to the donations to help people in Western NC. Ideally whomever fixes the house is going to rip all the walls and ceiling out down to the joists and studs. That mold is no joke. Wishing you the best!
Back in the late '80s / early '90s, my step-mom owned a Radio Shack franchise. It was very near a river, which had a "100-year flood" event. The stuff that wasn't literally washed away was -- quite surprisingly -- repairable by simply taking it all apart and washing each of the circuit boards and whatever plastic case it was in. I'd bet we managed to save 90% of the mud-covered devices we had? The one thing we could never seem to save was the VCRs -- those rotating head assemblies were completely ruined by the mud and silt. But stuff like the computers and electronic games? No problems at all. Obviously they could never be sold as new, but still -- it was quite interesting to see how much of the stuff we were able to save. I'd bet your arcade games will be similar -- just take them apart, clean them well, and dry them thoroughly before applying power to them again. Hopefully they'll all be good!
Surprisingly enough electronics are saveable often times even if they get absoloutely soaked. I think issues usually occur when they are plugged in and get wet, then the water can really do damage you cannot fix simply by cleaning especially on newer more complicated stuff where if anything on a pcb breaks you just gotta toss the whole thing.
@@marcel-q1m the biggest threat to electronic is stuff getting bent, the batteri/resisotr leaking. and power. you can in theory take a PC computer remove the CMOS dip it in a lake take it out clean everything out and dry it correctly and it will work.

There is an antique store near me that had a box full of laserdiscs. Ill have to see if they still have them. I know its probably the least priority, but I can see if they have anything you need replaced.
An unusually heavy snowfall collapsed my roof years ago, dumping nearly three feet of snow, ceiling, beams, and roof on my collection and working area. I can offer you this advice: if you pull all of the papers -- manuals for software, etc. -- out of the boxes, bag them in small batches in a pillowcase and seal that with clamps (the paperclips called "binders" is what I used), and treat the pillowcase with an anti-fungal agent (used for trees), and run that through your dryer, it stops deterioration!
My heart goes out you guys. I wish I could do more to help you out. I know this isn't much, but I hope it gets something. I can imagine how rough it was in normal circumstances, but all the politics that went along with it must have made it really difficult
As strange as it is to say, I admire your positivity throughout all of this. You had everything uprooted and look at it with hope and seem to be moving on with grace, it sets a good example and is something I haven’t seen in a very long time! Looking at this with a glass half full mindset and making videos restoring some of the damaged hardware, unboxing some water damaged NOS with a positive attitude I think might have a bigger impact than just preserving hardware or just as an interesting video to watch while eating your lunch
I'm guessing some other people have already said so, but I'm sure there's a chance that anything *electronic* that got overly rained on might still be salvageable if you can get 'em totally dry inside and out! All the same, man, it hurts me to see not only the damage to your house, but even just what the exposure to the elements did to just part of your collection. I audibly gasped more than once. SO glad that you're safe, and I would guess others will gladly join me in saying that we genuinely appreciate you sharing these updates with us. ❤️ Love from Canada!
What I see here is humbling and obviously not something to be happy about, but here's what I also see: you have the right mindset for all of this. You are okay, your family is okay, and you will get past all of this. And what I see is a ton of content possibilities - repair-a-thon videos, maybe collabs with others on repairs, and for the stuff that can't be salvaged, you'll be making room for new retro stuff that can be! I'm excited to see what comes but most of all I'm just glad you're okay both physically and mentally. That's the hardest part of all of this. While not anywhere on this scale, I went through a flooded house scenario myself and the recovery is long and tedious. But life moves on as long as you keep in the right mindset!
I'm glad to hear most of your collection is safe, but the destruction to your house is significant and hopefully this helps a little. I've been a fan for many years and it sucks how life is so unfair sometimes. If you don't end up needing the money, please pass it on to someone who does, but I'm suspecting you'll need it. Good luck with the repairs and your community will be here for you, even if it takes a while to resume your videos. All the best mate, from down under.
Seriously Clint, I've been following you for years and I wish you knew how much your videos have meant. So many sleepless nights with panic attacks made bearable through watching LGR Thrifts, some Sims reviews, Oddware or retrospectives. I fully understand and agree with helping those who are suffering the worst right now, but I hope you too can both get, receive and feel comfortable accepting help more long term if you ever feel you need it. Because you deserve that too. I'm glad that you and a lot of your collection made it out as well as you did through that rough ride, and my heart and thoughts are with all those affected. Have donated what little I can rn, but again, if there's anything we can do to help out later down the road, in general or to replace things lost in your collection, please let us know. But focus on the main things right now, health and well-being of you and the people close to you - both in the family sense and geographical sense. Much love from across the planet. ❤️ /Chris
Many people (including myself) have watched your content for years now. i know this isnt much, but i want to help out in whatever way i can. If you don't want anymore money like you said in your comment, you can still donate it to charity. I have never personally experienced a hurricane so I can't even begin to imagine being in this kind of situation. Watching this is truly heartbreaking but we're all glad youre ok and i sincerely hope that most of the stuff survived. Things might be difficult right now, but they won't always be. These things heal with time so don't worry.
I love your channel and the content you make. It's really sad what happened. I hope that you and your loved ones are fine and that everything will be alright.
Been subbed to the channel for a long time and as much as it sucks to see you losing stuff. It can always be replaced where you cannot. So it's just good knowing you are doing ok.
Fellow North Carolinian here, my heart goes out to everyone in western part of the state suffering from the effect of Helene. Clint, you do amazing work for the retro PC community and we are inspired with your perseverance to rebuild and move forward.
Greetings from Indonesia, Clint. You'll get out of this stronger. Watching your videos helped me through my worst times. I wish you all the best for the future. Much love.
I had a bad fire at my house where the cieling on the first floor caved in at the end of 2020 and was surprised how much I was able to restore, repair or just survived. Even with a UPS keeping everything on when the firehoses started. Still was devastating but at least i didnt lose literally everything - glad you also at least managed to hold onto a few things and everyone is safe.
This is why LGR will always be my fave. King could've asked for donos, but instead tells people to support others. Absoloute top lad
Best part, you now live in your very own thrift store!
Winter is arround the corner that's what makes me worried
@@LGR dude i really felt for not just the collection but your house. you just moved in!!!! your calm attitude is admirable.

I agree, and you can care for humans, houses, and things like this at the same time. Preserving history is an emotional and intellectual endeavor.

But only if you are up for that! We are with you through this, Clint, and are excited for any content you treat us with upon your return. who made it? Like, is neightboar to blame?
I'm affraid of this, no matter how can I try to make it safe, when I see some people around, and their flats full of batteries and connected gas, I'm really feeling unsafe.
@warrax111 No one made it.
Man, that sucks. I hate it when that happens to someone. 🙁
@MasterZebulin yeah it's a bummer. But stuff is stuff. It's definitely not fun to lose it, but it's way better to be alive to start a new collection.

Damn, I'm really sorry
I'm terribly sorry this happened to you. WOW. I have no words... Sending you so much love and support right now. 💚

(23.44 usd btw) and TY!
@@colinstu Thanks!
Hope things turn out well for you and everyone else impacted by the hurricane and other disasters
Thank you kindly! The area is really coming together as a community to rebuild and help each other, it’s been encouraging
Definitely, it was bad enough when they were renovating everything when I moved in so I can only imagine the nastiness that’ll happen with demolition
Thank you! Really looking forward to the time I can resume normal videos again, I genuinely miss it.
Indeed, some of these things still look fresh inside despite the disgusting exteriors! I look forward to sharing some of the results.
Sometimes that happens, sometimes the opposite happens when the packaging seals in the water and then ruins the media.
Yeah I was thinking while the boxes are soaked and disgusting, there’s a good chance plastic and styrofoam inside won the day.
@@LGR Electronic equipment damaged by water should be opened, washed with clean water, and have all dirt, mud, etc., removed. Let it dry completely, away from direct sunlight.
@@jmholmes83yes, but it’s still important to open them as soon as possible to inspect in case the same packaging that kept most of the water off isn’t trapping moisture inside.
Clint, you have brought so much happiness to my days with your channel. Wishing you well and keep at it. LGR means a lot to us all. ❤
Thank you! I'm glad to hear that and hope many more happy days are to come in the future
@@LGR they will! :)
I know it's not much but I hope it helps you in some way. Also, don't worry, I did donate to the charity you recommended as well. I love your channel and are praying for ya, buddy.
Oh it's definitely much, I really appreciate it!
@@LGR Least I could do :)
What an absolute shame brother. My heart goes out to you and your family. I am so absolutely distraught at not just the loss of your collection, but the state of your home. God bless you and I'll pray for a quick recovery. And I'll be tuning in still to watch the collection grow again. Good luck and god speed!!!
It's not much but I hope this will go a little way to getting you back on your feet. So sad to see the damage done, but glad to see so much of the collection survived unscathed. Your channel is one of my absolute favourites on YT. Wishing you all the best from Sheffield, UK.
Most importantly, I'm glad that you are alive and safe, but I am also happy that a lot of your collection survived! At the end of the day (and our lives), it's just "stuff", but it's stuff that is important to our lives too. Thank you for sharing and for continuing to invite us in!
The absolute gem of your collection, yourself, has come through unscathed. I applaud your courage under fire sir and grieve for your house and collection. Best of luck to you Clint
Thank you for being a role model and reminding everyone that even in a bad situation it makes sense to be grateful for what you have ❤
Sorry from a fellow retro enthusiast and Laserdisc collector.
Thank you! I imagine I'll be buying another player at some point, as unfortunately mine took a pretty direct hit from the ceiling/branches/rain.
I've been watching you since 2009 when I was a kid and you were doing Sims 3 pack reviews. It's been 15 years and I really wanted to thank you for all the hours of content that kept me company throughout my life. I hope you and everyone else affected can recover from this disaster soon!
Thank you, I appreciate it very much!
Seeing this destruction reminds me of the fire in my apartment. I lost about 20 old computers and consoles then. After extinguishing the ashes and checking the losses, I fell into depression. I never rebuilt my collection. I wish you all the best and good luck!
I don't blame ya. It's like trying to bring back a loved one back from the death once they've perished.
@@rommix0 this is a very accurate description. Sometimes you just have to let go of the lost stuff.
Glad ur safe Clint!
Do hope this small amount gets used to help fix ur home in due time because tons and tons of people have already donated a lot 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Ur vids have helped me kill time whenever I’m waiting for something or if I’m just bored. So again, hope all this gets resolved sooner than later :)
I’m sorry what happened to you. Keep the faith!
I can't do much, but I've just joined the channel and I'll be sure to donate to the cause to support others in your area. Take care Clint.
I'm glad you're okay and it could have been a lot worse! Sending you much love and support from Tampa Bay we're going through similar shenanigans
Sheesh, yeah no doubt! I wish y'all the best as well with all the recovery efforts.
Praying for you. Hopefully things get better for ya'll soon. May God bless ya'll, God loves ya'll.
Psalms 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
Yeah, I’m worried.
I'm close to Tampa myself. Thankfully Milton didn't decide to turn north and go up the east coast to follow helene. I tell ya, it would have been way worse than what helene did. Just look at the Tropicana stadium as a noteworthy example.
@@Tall_Order Burial mounds saved Tampa Bay from last minute total destruction again. It could have been way worse like Katrina bad had it gone twenty miles north.
+1 to being interested in watching a series in restoring the damaged equipment! Best wishes!
To quote Will Wright from his talks about the 1991 Oakland Firestorm and how that tragedy would eventually inspire The Sims:
"I was surprised how I didn’t miss stuff. The fact we got out and none of our family was hurt seemed so much more important."
I'm happy to hear you're safe, Clint. LGR is so much more than the individual oddities.
Hey man. I’m so sorry this has happened to you and yours. I definitely know how you are feeling right now! I donated to the link you provided and hope for nothing but the best for you. Nice to see some stuff can be salvaged. I still have a pile of burned stuff I’m working through here and I think it helped me to get over it. Hope it does the same for you!
Thank you, Mark!
The arcade housing might be toast on account of it probably being particle board, but that can be replaced!
When times were hard I’d turn on your playlist of old retro games and smile at the memories of my mom and I spending time together watching old shows on TV while I played games on her laptop.
Good luck to you and thanks for the update.
the laserdisk collection is heartbreaking :(
Yeah that one stings :/
The cardboard sleeves are toast, but the discs should still play, right? Maybe that's not the point.
There is an antique store near me that had a box full of laserdiscs. Ill have to see if they still have them. I know its probably the least priority, but I can see if they have anything you need replaced.
Hopefully the discs themselves still work from a preservation perspective. Might be a good idea to get them out of those sleeves, air them out.
@@LGR the discs might still be fine even if the cardboard sleeves are not.
This is really unfortunate, and I admire your very swift and clear reporting on this situation.
Been following since roller tycoon review video, hope to see you bounce back soon!
Man I hope you're doing okay this week, best wishes from Ireland. Your next setup will be even better I'm sure of it.
Your attitude in this situation confirms how I have always percieved you: Someone who is thankful for what he does have in his life.
Been subbed to the channel for a long time and as much as it sucks to see you losing stuff. It can always be replaced where you cannot. So it's just good knowing you are doing ok.
Your ability to maintain a positive outlook despite the extensive damage to your property and livelihood is inspiring. Cheers to you Clint.
Much love.
Happy that you're safe and well. Your positive outlook in the face of all of this is inspiring!
