I have a mix of mostly makita 40v a few hikoki and a couple of milwakee tools. I have to say I have been really impressed with the Hikoki stuff. Great quality tools.

From a New Zealander I've stepped up from the low end tools to Hikoki, Hitachi being I suppose a mid range D.I.Yer tool. I have nothing but great things to say about the brand having 13-14 18V tools then the 36V line trimmer, chainsaw, circular saw & belt sander, can't forget the 240V table saw that's awesome. I've even noticed watching some builders you tube channels having some of the hikoki range, it's great to see and it tells me the brand is up there with makita, dewalt & milwaukee. The multi volt system is awesome and the 36V tools have plenty of grunt even the 18V tools have a lot of power. The only problem being in New Zealand it's expensive to step up to a decent tool brand but I'm glad I did.

I’m not anyone special when it comes to diy but I’m about to start planning for a large shed and a 10 x 4 metre wooden terrace on the back of the house, I’ve bought a hikoki dh26pc2 Hammer drill for the post footings but I need some decent battery drills so after many hours of RUclips videos and review searching I’ve decided on the Hikoki 18V drill and impact driver this will open up my Hikoki path to more battery powered tools of the Hikoki brand, the quality build of the hikoki dh26pc2 is solid so this gives me the confidence to continue with this brand

Before being defensive be aware this observation has nothing to do with tool quality as I love Hikoki tools. Honestly it’s more logistics and corporate structure and policies between Metabo HPT and hikoki being so disjointed or disconnected.
Anyway IMO If you live in North America, Hikoki /Metabo HPT are literally one of the last cordless platforms you should buy into and that imo is due the disjointed corporate structure. Over the past 3yrs I’ve seen tons of tools released on the Japanese market thinking that it would only be a few months and they’d be on the North American market. That’s not the case they only brand the tools mhpt if they think they will sell making them worth branding and shipping across the world and while financially I understand that decision, It’s the last thing the customer wants. They want the option to buy every tool you’ve released. Granted we do get all the nail guns, and there’s a couple tools we’ve gotten before the rest of the world, but few and far between, all this leads to either paying exorbitant prices on eBay which voids the warranty. IME this just leads to disappointment and frustration because for example the cj36db barrel grip jigsaw or Sabre saw has been released, discontinued & re-released before it was ever sold in the states, also, MHPT has never sold a hydraulic impact driver or oil impulse drive, or whatever you wanna call it or the chainsaws or any OPE for that matter (the duster doesn’t count as an OPE blower) so if you’re one of the people that buy into one cordless platform only mhpt is a bad choice in North America or at least be prepared to pay triple the price and void the warranty. It’s just a shame, because they really do make some great tools.

I concur. Metabo HPT seems to be the red-headed step child in this corporate relationship.
Nevertheless, their range of tools in Canada is somewhat satisfactory at the moment, however one does have to search around as none of the stores carry anywhere close to a complete line-up. Also a ton of discontinued models on display at regular prices.
I don’t understand their complete lack of marketing and horrible store presence to be honest.
They can’t even spell Canadian on their website. It’s Candian instead.
Seems as if they hired just a handful of low level people to run their North American business.
