Really gives a sense of loneliness. Hard to do my homework to this, because I start thinking of being old with no friends, and how shitty that might feel.
It's actually the sound of the sustain pedal, the chair he is sitting on and the hammers of the piano hitting the dimming vilt, great audio engineering if you ask me
I heard my little sister playing this today, and my ears perked up..she was shocked I knew who you were. I felt the same. This album specifically has touched my soul ever since the initial release. I havw choreographed ballet dances to it, cried with it, loved with it, endured the hardest longing as well as the fullest joy. Just as the creaking floorboards linger on, so does this album in my heart. Thank you Olafur, and all the artists who played on this album. It is truly a masterpiece that I will forever cherish ❤️
Sometimes you don't need anything better than silence to listen the life flowing into you. Olafur Arnalds is a silence into caos, the feelings it gives are a blessing, so pure, bright, alive, so simple, yet so complete, so comfy, sad, but warm, so Human, his music is the vibration of every fiber of my soul. 🌹🌿🐞🍃🖤🦋🍀
2024 and I'm still here, thank u God for keep us alive... But good days are gone, well... all that's left are good old memories of old wonderful days❤.
Olafur gives out the downloadable sheet music for this and others on his website, worth checking out if you're interested in learning the song and he doesn't charge.
This has to be the best song I ever heard in like 6 years you touched me with this one nicely done n put together very meaningful it brought me to realize that life has a lot more to offer
My babe has a great passion for piano, he loves this song, he said he wanted to play it. And he believes that he can do it, me too. My babee, if you see this comment, I just wanna say that " babe, I love you, trust in you, I always believe that you can do whatever you wantttt "
Careful Óli, looks like you were about to fall backwards off your piano stool at the end there. Beautiful song, and a lovely series - thank you so much x
Came across whilst researching for my A-Level composition and this music has a profound effect on me - it makes my heart feel heavy in my chest, gives me a lump in my throat, and almost makes me shake. I can't tell you why, excpet that this music is an example of true beauty.
omg, i want to learn this song on the piano so bad.... but i don't know how to read the notes (or what it's called) and i can't find any tutorial either :( I love to listen to this song when i am tired or stressed.
Anyone know if this type of piano has a name? I'm interested in it's size. Seems relatively compact for an acoustic piano. The smallest I've come across is your standard upright. I would love to get a real piano in my apartment.
Stephen Veling He had a video about the making of the Living Room Songs, and he said he'd bought the piano for only (around) 300 US dollars at some garage-sale(?). In addition, he stuffed a beer bottle and an old t-shirt into the piano to make it sound nice when recorded. :') So yeah, it's probably an ancient piano. Here's where he details it: ruclips.net/video/W9t3mbv2Hd8/видео.html (right at the start)
Beautiful piece. It would be nice to have a recording of it without the extra piano noises. I think this could happen if you moved your close microphones futher back. (This works for me when I'm recording).
I wish I was his neighbor. Definitely wouldn't mind hearing this wonderful music live all the time
Those cracking sounds gives more life to this amazing song...
I disagree strongly, they are really distracting to me and impede my enjoyment. I had to go look for a version where they are not present!
To each their own. The cracking to about 75% of the listeners works.
Really gives a sense of loneliness. Hard to do my homework to this, because I start thinking of being old with no friends, and how shitty that might feel.

Niets Music you mean its difficult to recorf that ‘cracking’ sound?
(Im also the one who enjoyed that sound)
What’s great about this song is it is raw and has not been edited or had any special effects added to the sound

I can appreciate my life a bit more every time I listen to this song
This album brings me where I don't always want to be, but need to.
Oh God... I miss her so much
Ask her once again to be your gf sir
I have to cry every time I listen to this song... it touches me so deep inside. Thanks a lot for waking these feelings in me...
I agree. It touches my emotionless, sensitive depressed self.
I love living room songs, feels so real
What I wouldn't give to have been in this room during recording :)
Whenever I listen to it makes me cry
Same for me, because it matches my emotionless and depressed, sensitive self.
@@iambusyaj1095 how can you cry when you are emotionless, that doesn't make any sense at all ;)
A thousand poets can be born from this song ......................

Ya Daniella. Losing someone you've loved the most, for ever. Bittersweet it has always been and might be, for ever. That fear has a music now.
this piece brings peace to my soul, beautiful!
Pure beautyness, love, hope, nostalgia, new life.
A few years ago, I was going through PTSD and I used to listen to this song on a daily basis on repeat, and it would immediately melt my anxiety away.

Peace. Regrets. Tears.
i like the warm tone of the piano.
what is the brand name of this spinet piano please?
You know what, I don't like mess on the floor, especially not in my room. But DAMN a load of messy black cords are BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL.
Music to calm the most savage beast,
this devastates me
so simple.so deep....

I think the piano in this video is spinet piano and it's very possible that this one has 73 keys. As far as I know, they're very rare.

I like that accidental extra piano noises, sounds very intimate.
Yes, I hear what you're saying.
The extra sounds were quite deliberate.
Yeah he has said that he loves the creaking
That's cool.
love it :´(
can i get a sheet ?
