This has become one of my favorite shows. I think it's rare to see a character suffer so deeply that he or she is driven to madness. The torture scenes were extremely difficult for me, and not just because that it was happening, it was that he was allowed to regenerate, and then it happened again, forcing him to count so he could be fully aware of what's happening to him. In the end, he ends up happy, with his memories, and that makes me happy. He fought hard and learned a lot of lessons, and really suffered a long the way, but he made it

I can relate with Kaneki. My father passed away when I was 9 years old. The family who were around me left me. My cousins always bullied me. When I tried to be happy, they always did something to screw over my happiness. But I still thought that my cousins were kind, not evil. After so much realization, after watching anime, I realized that my cousins and my family were evil. Its pretty much just like when kaneki was abused by his mom but thought she was a good person but later, in tokyo ghoul ending and tokyo ghoul:re, he realized that his mother was evil. I love Kaneki because I can relate with him alot.
Kaneki's development is very well done here. Also, Kaneki is very lucky for having Touka now that he's married. Great job on the Producation, Ethan, as well as the Narration, Adrian!
This was overall a pretty solid summary however the lack of Hide is astounding, his storyline is deeply intertwined with Kaneki's as Kaneki would have never made it without him

I love this manga. The development of Kaneki throughout the story I find so compelling in many ways. He always has some deep psychological issues he's struggling with like repressed trauma from physical and emotional abuse, loss, grief, loneliness, existential crisis, survivor guilt, and later on he gets a bit of a messiah complex. My favourite parts in the manga is where they visually represent his inner struggle through some striking imagery and with pages just filled with random thoughts Kaneki is having representing his messy and chaotic state of mind. The anime saw this manga and thought it was an action series when in fact it's mostly a psycological horror series mixed with action.

just a note... in the beginning kaneki didn't try and stab himself to take out the organs, he did it because Ghouls skin can't be pierced by blades. He saw that he couldn't stab himself which led him to the conclusion that he was a ghoul. BUT no shame this looks difficult to make and I'm still very impressed.

I miss tokyo ghoul so much, this video is a perfect recap of my favorite manga series ever... Thank you so much I will watch and rewatch this video so many times! I love Kaneki so much, he is such an interesting and complex character with such a tragic life... Tokyo Ghoul is a masterpiece of a manga, thank you so much for this video as it lets me revisit the point in my life when I was addicted to this amazing story and character.
just a note... in the beginning kaneki didn't try and stab himself to take out the organs, he did it because Ghouls skin can't be pierced by blades. He saw that he couldn't stab himself which led him to the conclusion that he was a ghoul. BUT no shame this looks difficult to make and I'm still very impressed.
This uses information from the manga where he did try to stab himself to take out the organs.
