- I called up these scammers who try and steal your identity and credit card info by offering a bogus 'student loan forgiveness' service. The guy I got on the phone was just starting off on the job, and it was so much fun messing with this rookie scammer. The worst part about this is that they're targeting people who ALREADY have a ton of debt, and just help pile on to that or make the situation much worse (by stealing their identity / credit card info). they arent always scams persay, just they can be very risky. It depends on the country and economy i guess. Most people where i live graduate uni and get heaps good jobs in their field and pay off the loan within a couple years.

Most of these first contact guys just transfer you once you're in so they don't see the dirty work. But that's giving a lot of benefit of the doubt, this guy definitely sounded like he knew what he was doing with the way this ended.

The crazy thing is, I've seen a few student loan debt forgiveness ads on Instagram and at first I was pretty tempted to give them a call since I'm about 13K down the hole. Thank goodness I never bothered to call after seeing this!

I wish you would do this with people claiming to help those who are struggling to keep their house from Foreclosure. True story(very long): My mom had her house build from the ground up back in 1997, then a couple of yrs later she got laid off and struggle with mortgage payments, so some company claim they can help and ended stealing a lot of money from her and thousands of other people and though they eventually caught them in another country(somewhere in Europe) about 10yrs ago, my mom still lost her house and they have yet to give her portion of the money stolen. I too haven't finished college and never will but dumb even to have a lot of loans and nothing to show for it. I got a offer in the mail recently to help consolidate my loans but don't trust it.

oh shit I received calls and even emails like this claiming college financial forgiveness or something and I'd tell em how I was confused and unsure mainly since I had JUST started college and they'd always hang up on me until I asked my college counselor about and told me they're scammers 😅😅

I know students in US must go through this terrible process of getting a student loan. This loan is like a mortgage. Hopefully, here in Poland, students don't have to apply for this kind of loan, as studying (we have public academies, in which you don't charge studying fees) is relatively low and affordable to most students, when you are at a private academy.
This situation is also common to the most of European countries.
