After watching hours of deep dives into silent hill I love that hollow is going into this having no idea of the lore, it’s so fun to watch his genuine first reactions to everything
i agree. i have been enjoying his play through. I have played the original SH 1& 2, and i love the lore of this game, so when you see someone enjoying a game you love, i find it very wholesome. Also watching this new version made me think how brave i was when i played the OG. TBH i don't know if i can play this version since it's more realistic now😂
I also discovered Hollow fairly recently (like less than a year ago), and he really does have the perfect mix of chill, entertaining, and funny. He’s my go to RUclipsr for single player games for sure
It’s so funny how Hollow’s brain works. He can’t figure out that the “S” on the door stood for seconds but he immediately knew how to crack the Moth code. 😂😂😂 Gotta love him!
That happens when you look up in advance on youtube puzzles and codes, so your audience won t see that you're a total m o ron. Dude calls "ecuations" basic 2nd grade calculus, ffs 😂
Hollow, to answer your question in regard to the reason of the fog, yes, Konami originally added the fog in this game because back then PlayStation 1 had limitation when it came to rendering the entire town being shown at once. Not only did the fog helped from a technical perspective of the developers with the rendering of the distance inside the game itself, but it also added this unease feelings to the players that anything can jump out at them at any given time of the game. As you know, the town is huge, and hardware back then wasn't capable of rendering the entire town at once. Thus, the fog was implemented as a way to limit the rendering. The other thing I want to mention is, the fog is inspired by Stephen King's novel called "The Mist." The Darkness in the game is inspired by David Lynch's "Industrial Symphony #1", because it talks about clinging onto light. This is where the Darkness comes from in Silent Hill, where the entire wall is peeling off and transitioning into what is known as the "Otherworld," because it's supposed to represent the psyche of the individuals trapped there, as can be seen with the symbolism of the monsters. Each one of these monsters are a character's personality, guilt, shame, subconscious, or sometimes all of the above. Silent Hill is also based on a real town that's located in Centralia, Pennsylvania. In this real world town, there is nothing left but a few dilapidated buildings and a road that slowly sinks into the ground. The American town has been awash with fumes and flames for 60 years. In 1962, a fire broke out in an abandoned coal mine and has burned unabated through the galleries ever since. At the time, it was brought under control within a few hours, but remained far from being extinguished. The smouldering inferno continued to spread under the town and toxic fumes began to seep from the vents. The town has since been evacuated and is now inhabited only by a few stubborn residents. They refuse to leave and abandon their city to the devastation, which is also what they show in the movies too, as in some people refuse to leave, since they have been living their whole life there.
Also, the government didn't step in until a 12-year-old boy was almost swallowed by a 150ft sinkhole that opened under his feet! His friend snagged him up and they ran for it, which also saved their lives because the amount of fumes coming out would've killed them very quickly.
Can someone tell Hollow he's allowed to use the damn gun? Am I the only one noticing him ECOING all bullets from the start, to the point that he literally says ON A BOSS FIGHT "should I WASTE my bullets on this guy"? Dude got 120 bullets in a survival game. One hundred and twenty bullets. The waste is actually not using any of these and using a piece of wood for 3 hours straight Hello someone send help 😂
The feeling, the atmosphere of the original silent hill 2, i will never forget it, it is still to this day the best horror game i've played, and as soon as i get a job and as soon as i can afford this game i will buy it

I love how reactive the characters are. As soon as you moved the wardrobe in the cinema, they reacted to the noise your character made, and that besides Mary reacting to almost everything you do. That's so dope! They nailed it in the game.
Watching Hollow play for the first time is like reliving my first play through 😭 My best friend and I played this game over and over til we knew every secret. I hope Hollow reads about the monsters and what they each represent when he gets to the end; it'll make everything make sense
Rey, I do like how you segmented this game. You take your time, you do not rush, and beat yourself to dead to play this game 24 hour straight, like other gamer does.
@SiennaTiddlesworth I think they did a great job. The monsters and characters are pretty much the same as the original, with better and longer dialogue. The places are the same; they just look a little different (color and size of corridors). I was surprised by the eight endings (the original had 4), If I remember correctly.

I remember back in 2000's my brother played the original Silent Hill, I was creeped out when it changes dimension. So I watched the game far away from the tv. This remake it brings me back nostalgic feeling especially with the original opening theme. The Mandolin instrument makes the sound so creepy..
When I was a kid and this game first came out, my family and I would gather around the tv and play through this together on the Playstation 2 in a dark room. I was usually the one under a pillow half looking while my cousins or my dad took the controller and my uncle had walkthrough notes for when the puzzles became impossible. We would laugh at the voice acting and clever riddles throughout the game and then of course got quiet when things got really scary. Silent Hill was a whole family affair and for such a horrific game it brings me such sweet memories. Now seeing it being played through again through someone completely new to it is nostalgic and fun. Maria is looking at the clothing in the closet because thats what the original maria wore in the original silent hill 2 game
nice easter egg
I thought it was but I wasn't sure cuz it's been a while. I actually like that bloober team used team silents first outfit for Maria that didn't make it in the original game. I think the blazer over the black dress is actually really nice
Mariaaaa, damn no she dangerous. Props to James for keeping sane. 🤣
Hollow just in case you still don't know the outfit Maria asks you about in room 108 is her original outfit in the PS2 version. It's an Easter Egg by the devs

The handgun is meant to be used. You’re hoarding ammo for no reason.

Sometimes you really crack me up hollow lol thank you and keep up the good work.
I love Silent Hill games, this remake is well done and the voice acting fits well to the characters. You should play other Silent Hill games too, the 1st one is my fav 😃
Damn Sam I am always falling behind your production. I really like the long play best of games videos. They take me days to watch 😊
Holy fuck when that music started playing at 43:45 instant nostalgic goosebumps. Only the OGs will know 😩
Hollows smooth brain when it comes to the puzzles in games. We love ya hollow 😅😂
54:25 that was a good edit. Gave me a little jump lol
When I first saw pyramid head when I played the original silent hill game when I was a little kid, I was terrified and it was one of the creepiest things I’ve ever seen in a video game!!! I’ve been enjoying this gameplay!!!!
Imagine playing this in VR!!!☠️☠️☠️
You’re a fun inspiration Hollow. Keep it up my guy!
Immediatley after you used the KEY IF RESILIENCE, the creepy atmosphere made sure that PYRAMID-HEAD IS IN THE AREA. (Oh man you could hear him dragging his sword while he stomped nearby, the only thought was WHERE THE HELL DID ANGELA GO?!) So damn good Remake❤
Yay! More silent hill 🎉🎉🎉
As a fan of the original SH2, im really impressed with this remake after all the bad press earlier this year. OG fans gotta be happy with this!
