    I've been watching fountain pen reviews from well known people for a long time and none are as amusing as you (maybe Doug Rathburn. He's fun.). Watching you is a delight. I hope you get many thousands of subscribers soon. 😊

    The smaller Omas “ladies” pen is fittingly called the Omas Dama. I have two in the Arco Bronze - lovely little writers. Great review! I’m a devout fan of Scribo and Omas pens 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻💯.

    I recently purchased a "Feel" in the "Foglia" finish. Using it for the first time i.e. in my rotation this month. I have it inked with Robert Oster "Antelope Canyon". I wanted to pick up the chatoyant "golden" areas in the pens finish, and this ink does a great job in achieving that. I love the look and feel of this pen, and agree with everything you had to say about it!

      That's such a pretty material and ink color you chose. There's so many additional shady inks you could put in that. I hope you write many good things with it.

    The small pen is a 555-F or sometimes called a dama (Oma's earlier term for a vest/purse pen, I think). I have one of those and an older 555-s from the 50s. Both are flextacular. Omas pens of that era came in S (round) or F (faceted) and had three main sizes 555, 556, 557. Then there were models that were outside that main line like the 361 and the VS. So many pens have no names or model numbers on them. It's confusing. I don't pretend to understand it but there are great books in Italian that explain them. Letizia Iacopini once explained a bunch to me. Omas pens are usually beyond my reach (and budget) so I have chosen to enjoy few I have (old & beat up) and forget about getting more, Though, like you, I adore them.

    Great review. Loved the writing comparison. I have several Omas pens, only one flessible. I have not pulled the trigger on the Scribo due to cost. My question is if you prefer the writing experience of the Scribo over your larger Omas. Also, do you know if the Scribo is made such that it is difficult to clean like the Omas? I very much appreciate your willingness to take the time to do such a comparison in the face of Inky attacks. Your patience is truly remarkable. I think that’s why I have dogs. Thanks

    • @ferociousnprettypens
      @ferociousnprettypens  3 года назад +2

      I know what you mean about the OMAS being hard to clean. That ebonite feed holds onto ink like it's going out of style!!!
      I've only put the Robert Oster Viola in my Scribo, and that I'm comes out so easily in any pen. I'll put a really saturated ink in there and check back. IN THE NAME OF SCIENCE!!! 👩🏻‍🔬

    I love your video’s a lot. You are so funny! Interesting comparison!! I have 4 scribo’s and some Omas as well, including a 14 Kt extra flessibile of both. They are quite comparable for me, despite the Scribo is a Fine and the Omas is a Medium. Both are gushers. And when starting to write, the ink is very saturated. The feeds are sponges! Love to use my lighter inks in these, which I don’t like at all in other nibs. Thank you for your gorgeous video’s!

      Wow! 4 Scrobo's. Which material is your favorite?
      For some reason, my Scribo just couldn't handle the RO Viola. I still think it's a great pen, and I'm looking forward to putting some more saturated colors in it to practice calligraphy/flourishing. I love the way it writes and fits in my hand.

    Hello, just ran into your channel. Lots of factors are involved in the feel of a flex nib. Some are: nib material, nib thickness, nib condition (work hardened, tempering, heat treatment, all metallurgical considerations of post processing and shaping), nib plating, nib shape, relief cuts, breather hole position and shape, tine length and a few others. It really is part science and part art. 🖖😁

    • @ferociousnprettypens
      @ferociousnprettypens  3 года назад +1

      Thanks for summarizing some of the key characteristics of what makes up flex nib. You're 💯 with the art and science of it. I have modern and vintage in my collection, and it's really cool to see how some modern nib meisters are adding relief cuts.
      What I was getting at was that the limited tipping and "scooped" out shape at the tip of the OMAS is not the same as on the Scribo. I'm sure there are other differences, but that's the most visible to me. Either way, the Scribo is still a wonderful pen. ❤️

    FWIW - I own only two OMAS pens, a Milord and an Ogiva Extra, both from somewhere in the '90s. The Milord is substantially smaller than the Ogiva, and has very little tipping, just as you describe in the video. My Ogiva has a gob of tipping. Both write like champs, but neither can compare to my Santini cursive italic nibs. (I own 7 of Giovanni's pens, , including 2 Ancoras.) I am nervous about how my hand will react to the usually severe step down on the Scribo sections, and with so many Santinis yet to buy, I will never get around to a Scribo.

    • @ferociousnprettypens
      @ferociousnprettypens  3 года назад +1

      I've looked at Ogivas, but my hands are more suited to the size of the standard Paragon. If I ever come across an Ogiva in Arco that won't cost me a kidney, I will rethink my statement!
      I was recently on the Santini website (I may or may not have been looking for my next pen), and I noticed they're releasing a couple of new ebonites! I've heard good things about the Santini CI nibs from multiple people. What makes it perfection for you?

    It's weird that it would run dry because Scribo uses a double channel feed. I found the Scribo pens to have beautiful looking bodies, but have stopped short because of the price. Alas, the joy of my last fountain pen purchase is withering, and despite my constant attempts to negate my forward advance t'wards yet another writing stick, it must be done for the greater good of the world. I have convinced myself that the rapid demise of the world will occur unless a Scribo is bought. A 20% discount on a Scribo pen has nothing to do with it. I blame OMAS. At the root of this lustful desire is the Vixen; OMAS.
    The OMAS nib is just explainable. She haunts my fountain pen dreams. I must have her. I shall get the flexible nib. my only issue is whether F or M? I don't like a fine line, but most times the M is on the slender B side.
    Funny as always. Where have you been? Haven't seen a new video from you in a while. Hope you are well.

    I have to say that I simply do not like the shape of the Scribo pen, nor the "feel the writing" motto in English on the ring of an Italian pen. (It's a pretty lame motto in any language on any pen!). Since this video first appeared, Omas has made a reappearance, though it is controversial. The company is still based in Bologna. I bought two of their recent Ogivas and superficially they are close to the original Ogiva, maybe even weightier and sturdier. BUT! The nibs, while good and smooth, are no-where near the sublime sensation of the original Omas nib. I tested my original Ogiva (Museum of Modern Art Edition) side by side to the new remakes, and it wins in all categories by a mile. To be fair, I don't know of a nib that can compete with it, not even my beloved Montblanc 149 or the Pilot Custom 823. What magic did the original Omas craftspeople work? Truly, it is almost mystical.
