  • I went from not hiking, to two hikes in one weekend, which was quite an adventure. This hike was with @destinationbackcountryadve3074. OUr group hiked the Peter’s Kill area. The distinctly steep trail crossed the Peter’s Kill stream. My reward was an amazing view from one of the cliffs where we stopped for lunch.
This hike cemented the fact that I don’t enjoy hiking. Or rather, I don’t enjoy the type of hiking that includes inclines and steps. I don’t mind the technical terrain of the rocks and roots, but I absolutely do not like the feeling of not being able to catch my breath - as a kid with asthma, that was never fun. I absolutely enjoyed walking with the group and getting to know everyone.
After the hike we stopped at a local Orchard where some people went apple picking. I was able to get a peek at the process of sorting the apples that are sold vs used for making treats (baked goods and cider). Pretty darn cool.
Back to NYC we were greeted by an amazing sunset. Can’t beat that.
