      My doctor didn’t tell me if it was hypo or hyper. He just walked out. I told him that it wasn’t helping me. I still am very fatigued and constantly fall asleep. I have been taking it for 16 yrs and never had an increase in the med. He just tells me the small dose is fine. How can it be fine if I still have the same symptoms?

    1999 had a Hemi Thyroidectomy due to a very large tumour I found in my neck.. It was a Follicular Adenoma 6cm x 11cm growing down my throat. I was discharged from hospital and told to see my GP in 6 weeks. By the time I did, I was a mess and actually cried when he asked how I coped with the surgery. My reply was great doc, however I am so horrifically tired!! Exhausted 😩… he just smiled and said how am I taking my Thyroxine!…… and was annoyed I was sent home from hospital without being told I would need it…. Still take it and apart from a very soft voice now I am doing great on the meds…

    I have found that it helps to take slightly more levothyroxine after a busy day or when I feel really tired. I am on 118mg so I occasionally take 125mg. I need a level of 22 in my blood test to function normally. Remember everyone is different and will have an individual response to medication.

  • @ethereal369
    @ethereal369 9 месяцев назад +26

    Levothyroxine (aka Synthroid) rarely works by itself. It replaces ONLY T4. Your body also needs T3, which the body is supposed to be able to convert Levothyroxine into T4 *in a thyroid gland that's functioning right*. But if it was working, we wouldn't need medication in the first place.
    So there's a lot of people who don't get relief from symptoms with Levothyroxine alone. Ask your doctor for Armour Thyroid. It's a naturally derived source of thyroid gland that also replaces T3, eliminating a lot of symptoms that Levothyroxine alone does not, including weight loss in many individuals. Trust me, you'll be glad you did.

      I take an oil based liquid drug since every pill failed absorption and I went into heart failure. For years, even today, my levels still are not right and a lot of the health issue I have is because of this drug not absorbing correctly. I found it suspect it’s all food related why nothing is working, you can NOT take any type of soy products or products with soy in them and or drink coffee with this drug which I always have since the day they removed my thyroid. So now I’m going to start this diet change in combination and see on the next blood text if this worked and I believe it will. I’ll give an update but im sure there are many others out there like myself. It can take years to get your levels right since most doctors are uneducated in this area and im talking about the ones who even specialize in this area of expertise. Patients need to advocate for themselves and do their own research as I did! If it wasn’t for the research I’ve done myself, who knows where Id be today - I’m only still able to talk about it because I’ve constantly been on top of my own health and research.

I said she might take some Iodine. Here is her response to me : “ Iodine CANNOT be taken by people who are on Liothyronine and Levothyroxine “. Do you know of any REASON why Iodine would have negative effects on those two medications that are taken together ? Please, please, help us out by answering. Today is 4-20-2024. Thank you !

      It should regulate your thyroid hormones which improves fertility (as is the case when any hormone imbalance is corrected), and taking thyroid hormones during pregnancy (especially in the first trimester when the fetus relies 100% on your thyroid hormone supply) is vital for the proper development of your baby's brain and nervous system. According to the research, cognitive impairment and learning disabilities can occur if the fetus is deficient in thyroid hormones.
      Just remember the baby will leach your thyroid hormones from you, so just make sure your dose is optimal (i.e: TSH below 2 mIU/L ) for BOTH of you, (all too often people only focus on the baby's health and forget about the woman's health). I wish you and yours nothing but optimal health, luck and happiness!

      Iodine deficiency is a cause of hypothyroidism, however, very few individuals in the western world are iodine deficient. It is prevalent elsewhere in the world, but not in the UK.

    I would have weighed 300 lbs if I stayed on levothyraxin. I don’t convert t4 to t3 . I need natural thyroid. It’s hard to listen to this guy telling us we should take all those drugs! Ugh

    • @JHPMedicalUK

      Hi Anne,
      Some individuals require t3, but this is usually via an endocrine specialist. This is outside of our area of expertise, so it wouldn't be right for us to talk about it without consulting an expert first.
      Hope you understand, that everything is individual in medicine what's right for one person isn't necessarily right for all.
      Regards,
      JHP Medical
