Great to know! I typically use the native iOS Camera app to record so I get cinematic mode, but I’ve been wondering if there’s a better option out there. Thanks for your video. It seems like you’ve confirmed that the native app is still the best for cinematic mode.
Thank you sir, i have dslr and for some reason I don’t download cinematic version on my canon but I don’t live for this, videographer just have fun with this… thank you and very appreciate
*It doesn’t matter all still have cinematic modes even thought it has flaws and still it has cinematic mode even though it’s not perfect. If really need a real cinematic mode just buy iPhone 13 if you can afford. I still prefer Protake app. I already downloaded it on my iPhone 12 Pro Max. Thanks!*
Thanks for that great informative Video. Protake has in fact a White-Balance lock functionality. You have to be in Manual „Pro“ Mode for that. Then on the left screen side you can choose that option
I got the iPhone 13 pro max in white 128gb and did an unboxing video on my channel! Absolutely love this phone. I also did a Spigen clear glitter case unboxing and try on, this is a great case if anyone is wanting a clear but slimming case for the 13 pro max :]
Good question, they are actually different. Protake let’s you choose the bitrate up to 32Mbps and the others don’t. It’s on the lower side for all of them.
I have not. :) Sometimes when I mention doing another video I forget, or move on to something else. Need to stop doing that. Lol. But that is something I want to cover on the channel.
FiLMiC Pro doesn’t support Cinematic mode. They talked about adding it but not sure if they will. You can do focus pulls though but you have to be close to objects to get shallow depth of field.
Great comparison! I recently switched from using Focos to a native iPhone 13 Pro. I filmed some videos in cinematic mode, HDR on. However, when I connect and transfer the videos to my PC, the coloring and exposure is not the same. The videos appear brighter and lose their color when I export. Any advice here?
Great comparison! I'm not sure what you like so much about the rack on Protake though. Looks incredibly artificial to me. Personally, I prefer slow, smooth racks. Seems like the iPhone app is the way to go. Better cutouts, post-production refocusing, compatible with Final Cut, 10-bit HDR mode. It really does need to add 24 fps though. It's an abomination calling something "cinematic" and not having 24 fps. SMH. Not to mention the omission of necessary white balance lock. Is there some technical limitation with that and the white balance, or will that be added via update later?
Yeah native app is much better with the rack focus, I just thought Protake was better than Focos Live really. I don’t know about the auto WB, seems like an easy addition since you can lock it shooting standard video. I’ve actually been using Cinematic mode a lot recently in real world projects and really like it, but the auto WB has ruined several shots, so I really hope they include locking it soon - as well as 24p! Thanks for watching.
If only Apple hadn't dickered with the software for iPhone 13 to 15 camera and video. Yes you get cinematic mode built-in, but you also have the worst over contrasted, gritty and grayed out dirty looking skin tones I have ever seen. I'm an artist and no matter what I've tried, the color shift is horrible. I was looking at turquoise in my painting but the iPhone kept portraying it as navy blue. But on my iPhone 11 - (ios 15) perfect! After hours of research and talking to Apple support, there is no way to alter the software. You have to do everything in post. And who has that much time unless you're a pro and already doing color grading?
I just replied to your other comment… If you’re shorting Cinematic Mode that can be in HDR too. I personally shoot SDR for that as it’s much easier to work with. The negative is it’s 8-bit instead of 10-bit, but if you’re not doing post color work then that doesn’t really matter. One thing I will say is Cinematic mode does tend to crush the black levels in either HDR or SDR. And it’s over saturated. But it’s not how you’re describing, again unless you’re shooting HDR and trying to edit or view it in SDR. I actually created some LUTs that help with that issue… www.iphoneographers.tv/product-page/subtly-cinematic-luts-pro But if your camera isn’t recording properly then that’s obviously an Apple tech issue.
Sure, you can use any lens although I’ve not personally used the ultra wide. One way you could connect your phone to your computer via HDMI and use Filmic Pro… ruclips.net/video/_jAUv-QKZE4/видео.html. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much@@iphoneographers i mean to do a livestream on the go, not sitting on a table. The only way i found is buying an external lens but I don’t find the way using the internal lens… thank you
I use anamophic lens but have not use wide angle lens im not referring to ultrawide but the wide angle lens by moment do you use wide angle is it go to lens I use anamophic because it gives your video a very cinematic widescreen aspect ratio but wide angle is just certain situation lens to use basically I see need of having anamorphic that look is very nice
@@iphoneographers cool I’m thinking what be more beneficial right now rode AI Micro audio preamp or wide angle lens I have anamophic and I have the deity mini mic which can use with headphones and input external audio mics etc i can only get one for early Christmas gift AL micro or moment wide angle or other brands which one would you choose and why thank you and happy thanksgiving!!!!
Probably choose the AI-Micro as you can already shoot a wide shot with your phone, but getting two audio channels in and also monitoring with headphones is challenging, but with the AI-Micro it’s easy.

In Focus, that peek-a-boo LIDAR screen is handy. Had that app from it’s beginning. Works well.

Have used that like in the native app too, but they don’t appear to work in the cinematic or portrait video modes. It’s auto WB. Thanks for watching!
Great video! Question for you… how does Filmic Pro do with the new cinematic mode on the iPhone 13? Do you get better DOF shots?
Filmic Pro doesn’t have a Cinematic mode, although have heard they may potentially add something in the future. Thanks for watching!

Nice video. I have a 12 pro and decided to go with FOCOS until i get the 14 model. I like that FOCOS has a $15 non subscription price.
Now it’s only weekly subscription based?
Interesting comparisons. Do you know if the video bitrate is the same on all 3 apps? Thanks.

I have not. :) Sometimes when I mention doing another video I forget, or move on to something else. Need to stop doing that. Lol. But that is something I want to cover on the channel.
I thought you could set focus through focus pull for depth on filmicpro isn't that a better alternative if you already have that?

Why can't I shoot focos live at 60 Fps?
Believe it’s device dependent. Might only be on the 13 series.

Any will work for TikTok, but the native camera app is probably the simplest.
