  • Tech investor Prosus marked down the value of its shareholding in the beleaguered edtech BYJU’s to zero and wrote off its entire 9.6% stake in the company, the investor said on June 24.
“We impaired BYJU’S down to zero at the end of FY24…The fair value written down was $498 million for FY24,” Prosus said.
Byju’s fall from being India’s most valuable startup at $22 bn to seeing its valuation cut by 95% to barely $1 bn in under two years: Here’s the story of how it all unravelled for the once celebrated decacorn.

Scoring 100 percentile in CAT doesn't mean you are good at business modelling. Byju Raveendran is a classic case of pride going before a fall. Faster the rise , greater the fall.

Really feel bad not for byjus but for the poor parents who got trapped by the marketing persons and spent huge sums of money on courses which they couldn't afford and ended up in huge debts.

Went to his class in Bangalore once when he was just starting out…he came,he talked,he left.It was clear even back then he knows only the language of greed and money. Why he had a following even back then was incomprehensible to me !

He took risk and created great business model. It is still an unicorn. Every business has risk. I am sure he will learn and bounce back.

What went wrong, maybe lack of corporate governance exposure by top management or maybe inorganic growth stimulated by startup fund which has huge return expectations
