Hi Fellas, The silent choice for AJ at the beginning of this episode also give "I saved One for Me" at the end. As many are asking again about it (Probably missed out my other videos with the explanation) so I decided to write down again here. I didn't include the scene on purpose cause not relevant (Just wanted to go straight to the point and avoid stretching the video few more min)
BabyZone hey buddy, you missed one. I want to know what would’ve happen if you had picked the choice where you let him stay with the group but not as the leader
Kai Diha Marlon dies anyways
You must put so much effort into these vids love your channel
TY! that's what I came here to this video wanting to know about.

Marlon wont forget that. Dies two seconds later. Classic teltale.

I guess silence isn't a valid option anymore
I made that mistake in bloody Season three where i was silent because i didnt want to run off with Kate (she was annoying until she redeemed herself towards the end). Turned out being silent meant i was leaving with Kate. God damn it! So yeah, I try not to be silent anymore.
Although I missed my queue when answering AJ in the beginning and silence chose "Windows" for me. Always look out for the windows and AJ is always listening. XD
Even in Minecraft story mode …
Doge The shibe, Feels bad man feels bad
No, we are the new leader. Silence is not an option.
It never was when it comes to Telltales
*Game tells you that AJ is always listening*
Clem: You don’t have to do this Marlon, you can stay with us, stay in the basement, or take some stuff and leave.
AJ: Kills Marlon every time
Because he is still character of his own.
@@bestbrainbigman honestly he was only surrendering for the moment, I'm sure if they kept his character they would've kept him as a bad character. He was useless anyways aj did the right thing
Clementine doesn’t decide every single thing AJ does, AJ probably thought Marlon was still a threat to Clementine and shot him to protect her.
I just feel like all the morals we teach AJ in the beginning and how we like mold his character with them gets thrown away in this moment. Because even bad characters that were adults like Lily stayed alive in the first season. So why do we have to let a kid get murdered in cold blood? Because I see Marlon as a frightened kid who prior was a troubled youth due to his anger issues. Which is heightened in this intense situation due to the fact that he's the only one who's shouldering the burden of keeping everyone alive.
I KNOW RIGHT
Classic “Your choices matter and effect the story” moment right here.
If only...
What? i aimed for the head
They do matter, just as much as TellTale's games are sandbox games.
Except when you die the game forces you to respawn
Yeah that’s always been the one big problem with Telltale games. An episodic game that actually does a decent job with making your choices matter is LiS2 by Dontnod. The ending situations of each episode won’t be completely different, but those situations can go about pretty differently depending on your choices. Also, if you’re able to save a character from dying in both LiS and LiS2, the game won’t force that character to die in a later situation or later episode like in TWD, which basically makes saving a character pointless.
*Marlon won't forget that*
When he comes back as a mutant zombie niinja!!!
Sorry - I think Louis is rubbing off on me.
* Marlon gets shot in the head *
* He then forgets *
Kewlausgirl ikr! I’ve been repeating his lines too much. Not to mention how I’m trying to get my friends to play war xD
Just A Human I don’t think AJ agrees
Connor Eh... War is great and all but Strip Jack You're Naked card game is better imo.
It's similar strategy but you keep flipping cards per person clock wise until you get a high card. Which goes Jack, Queen, King, Ace.
If for example I play a Jack and it's your turn next, then you need to "pay up your cards" - you need to play the number of cards that that card is worth.
Jack - draw one card. Queen, draw two cards, King: three cards, Ace: four cards.
If you draw a counter card, Jack, Queen, King or Ace, then that plays it back to them, they need to deal another card. It keeps going until someone has won that round.
That winner gets the cards from the used card pile. It becomes though because then they can have a load of good higher cards to use. And it keeps going until each person runs out of cards.
But I do like the card game War where you have to tell each other the truth. I don't know if that is a part they made up as house rules. But it seemed fun. I wish it had lasted longer.
I think 'I aimed for the head' is the best dialogue outcome in this scene...
AJ basically says he sees Marlon as a 'Monster' (and he refers to zombies as Monsters as well) and by saying 'I aimed for the head' he implies that he saw Marlon as a Monster, wich most kids would have if they realized that Marlon is a murderer. And I think that would make AJ's action a bit more understandable, compared to the other two options of 'I safe one for me' and 'I didn't hesitate'.
Would you agree?
Snowfloks wich 😂
I think 'I saved one for me' was the better way to go out because it was what Clementine taught AJ, the way that Clementine looked shocked gave me the impression that she thinks this is her fault.
Thrre was another one when he said. What I saved the last bullet for myself
Him saying that also makes sense because he was smart and killed him via headshot instead of the heart or another vital place, that would have allowed Marlon to become a walker and attack everyone further.
I think the "didn't hestitate" option is also valid, because in the walking dead universe there's a 50 50 chance an enemy you forgive will come back as a meaner and more asshole version of their previous self.
AJ unconsciously understands *that* in the new world he was born on, one where he doesn't even know what policemen were; the fabric of society dangles by the thread of common courtesy and trust. Once an asshole spits on those silently agreed upon stipulations, they are considered fair game and expendable, so as to ensure no further detriment to whathever precarious ghetto pose of troubled teenagers one might find oneself in.
They put so much emphasis the dog that I thought it was gonna kill him.

Anyone else surprised when Violet did nothing when it was revealed that Marlon gave away the twins? In case you didn’t know, Violet was dating Minerva.
Lalacandy whaaap
@NpSk Hyper In the fishing shack there's a heart that says,"V+M" carved on the wall. Also when Lilly comes with raiders to attack the school, she explains how Minnie wanted to come (to taunt the kids into coming with her to see Minerva again) and she says,"She said she had a girlfriend back here" while zooming in on Violet who looks either a little shocked, scared, or both.

That silent option when Clem first comes out the basement is too badass. The way the other kids step aside and Marlon sees her with fear on his face is so fire. Terminator Clem activated

It's weird that AJ doesnt pay attention to the conversation , Clementine tells Marlon that he should be in the basement until they find out what they are going to do and BAAAM , he gets shot
Or in another situation Clementine tells Marlon that it's going to be allright , its not hopeless and they can fix it.
But again BAAM , its kinda cheap that you cant keep Marlon alive
and the game tells you at the beggings that AJ always listens... smh
And its weird cause he just teleports behind Marlon and has the gun when the gun was dropped at Marlins feet and he wasnt near him. You would have seen him grab the gun and go behind at the very least.

holy shit i didnt know that
wow thanks
AJ is starting to scare me a little. It seems that growing up in the apocalypse environment has messed him up, cause just in this one first episode I already sensed him becoming more and more creepy. Clem is the only person he has been able to trust a 100%, and he constantly talks about him protecting her and not the other way around (when he's under the bed and then later it says ''me protecting clem'' on his drawing). He also has that weird moment with the police toys where he suddenly says that ''they're now his'' and gets mad at Tenn. And then as a finale he shoots an actual person and replies with a lesson Clem taught him earlier...I'm just getting bad vibes from AJ even though he's a little kid, is it just me??
This chapter is going to be about how AJ turns out in the end. Pretty sure he'll be Kenny.
It's clems fault don't forget
Megami Psycho Yes I know, but theres no way to stop AJ from shooting Marlon at the end. No matter how you raise him

To all the people saying why AJ shot Marlon
Here's a summary.
It's actually very logical as to why AJ shot Marlon and the answer is more complex than it sounds but it is all AJ knows.
Why do you think he tried to sleep under the bed? It's because he is in a constant state of survival and lacks a sense of calmness/being relaxed. He shot Marlon because he was a threat to Clementine the only person he has ever known truly, he basically has a combination of clinginess and narcissim which shows when he was trying to steal/ take Tenn's toys. He would shut down or worse become extra aggressive and violent if left alone as was shown ( aimed a gun at Marlon threatening him where is Clementine ).
If you noticed when the bandit was at in the room with them the first instinct he had is to threaten and shoot him refusing to give up the food ( goes back to his survival mindset), depending on your choice he says " why did you give the bandit our food?"
It's either he doesn't or can't read a situation that demands him to compromise, his philosophy could be which is to destroy the threat or flee from it...in this case kill Marlon.
Long story short AJ is who he is because his environment/ world demands it however it is clearly a "double edge effect " where with his mindset which is survival could savd him from zombies but could be detrimental if against humans because they WILL see him as a threat that needs to be put in check.
basically, AJ was afraid of Marlon because he thought Marlon would soon attack Clem so he shot Marlon.
Ok. I'm just going to say something about what you just said. Dude...do you carry a dictionary around with you? Do you use a dictionary whenever you think you need the right to explain why someone did something? God if I heard this in real life I'd say you would be incessent
@@minervaxviolet3915 what the fuck is wrong with you
@@bigweeweehaver what? I'm just stating the obvious
AJ needs to look at some flowers (the walking dead tv show ref)
he's just another messed up kid who never grew up with the mindset before the apocalypse and is another dangerous obstacle to those who knew the old life and can still think logically through that
I love how Clem throws the flashlight down as if to say "Oh, screw this!"

@omar Morcy Why
@omar Morcy Lol so if he shot Marlon WITH Clementine's permission then it's ok?
"Story goes by your chocies" , my choice wasnt for AJ to kill him after every single option, if you gave so many options then why dafug is any of that needed... i dislkke that about Telltale , but i still love the story and everything else
You get better variety endings with QuanticDream games, take a look at Heavy Rain and Detroit: Become Human. Could you imagine if THEY made the Walking Dead seasons?
The Mellow Gamer well has quantum dreams ever released a sequel to any of their games?
ParkourHackerGamer No because they don’t have to. Unlike Telltale, they release an entire game at a time, complete with impactful choices.
Also it’s QUANTIC DREAM. Get your names right.
Kartik Punna yet so many people want sequels to their games and they don’t release them. I wonder why
ParkourHackerGamer Because most of the time they don’t need one. However, I’ll admit, a sequel for Detroit would be technological achievement in and of itself.

Damn, I got the "What? I shot him in the head" ending and I was just so shocked (truly, that was a great moment that I didn't expect) that I was like "What if the advice at the very beginning determines whether or not Marlon lives (or if the advice somehow determines if another person dies instead)?" and I'm pretty disappointed that no matter what Marlon dies. I completely get the look AJ gives Clem and the rest where he's kinda confused because he thought he did the right thing and just can't process why they're looking at him like that.
13:50 So sad. Louis really was his best friend. "You were just the only one who couldn't see it....." Damn....
Why didn’t she take AJ to Riverside? To where Javi was leading?
And why’d AJ feel the need to kill him? He wasn’t armed anymore... why, AJ?!!? That’s just cold blood. He was about to be thrown out too.
Rebekah Wolkiewicz I kept thinking this the whole time! Why not go back to Javi?! It was a group she knew, and had an area to secure.
Hopefully we get some back story on that in the next episodes

Thank you for putting this together! It’s cool to see how differently this all could have turned out.

Pharagill it’s telltale no matter what you do everyone no matter what will end with the exact same ending
Kinda dissapointed that Marlon dies no matter what, I hoped that you could've indirectly decided that yourself through your earlier decision at the train station ( the one where you kill Abel or let him take some food and go). It would have made moresense that AJ shoots Marlon after you killed Abel at the train station, whereas he wouldn't if you didn't kill him.
Mike Hunt nah I wasn’t. AJ grew up in a violent world he’s like a little Negan he can be a savage. His mentality is way too high.
still, in my opinion it would have been more interesting if your earlier choices with AJ would have determined that. It even says in the beginning of the episode that your choices determine what AJ becomes. But to each their own I guess. Regardless, I'm still pretty excited about this new season
Thing is if that was an option almost no one would choose to kill him. They’d just replay to get the better scenario.
Killing a thief is the same as killing a guy who made a horrible mistake that he is regretful for? If Telltale actually did that then I would never play another one of their games again
*Legend has it Marlon still didn't forget that*
AJ: What? I saved one for me.

Did anyone notice how almost EVERY time just before he shoot clem, he lets out a little smirk
Marlon was young and I guess all that pressure of being a leader drove him mad, maybe even the guilt and paranoia of those people he had to give to abel to drove him insane as well. But killing brody and trying to kill clem wasn't necessary. I wouldn't kill nor exile him. I would just imprison him until he gets himself together.
then what? after he gets himself together what would you do? release him? . what happen if the next time, he blown up again. more people die because of him. exiling also dont work, coz he can easily scheme or do damage to the group from outside if he wants to. so what is the option left? life imprisonment? also not work. wasting food and energy to a prisoner especially in these lawless and struggle time is not an ideal. what is the best choice then? death. he sold his comrade, he killed his comrade. the only fitting punishment is death. actually he is quite lucky to get a fast and clean death like that. it is a mercy actually.

I really wished you could save either of brody or marlon, but i guess the set up for the next episode is better withouth them (any of them would know info about the raiders, so the episode might turn around choosing what to do against the raiders). Also, i really think that they're gonna make you choose between Violet and Marlon's best friend (cant remember his name), but knowing telltalle they will both die or leave eventually. I hope Aasid stays for the rest of the season, since he is the most balanced guy of them all and IMO he is the closest character to be like Lee, and i really think he could turn into another type of Lee.

@@dreamycream-_-6763 You are right. However, I like the story and I love Clem jaja
The way AJ acts is a lot similar to the way Carl in the comics acts.
For a bit, they were both confusing bad people, people who did bad things, and “monsters”. Similar to how Clem has the option to tell AJ that he shouldn’t like killing, in the comics Carl killed another kid and proceeded to call Dale weak for crying about it. Rick had to explain to Carl that he can’t like killing, that doing bad things even if it’s to keep them safe, he can’t like it.
I’m sure this took a lot of inspo from that part of Carl’s character arc in the comics.
