I hope it makes the viewers and commenters on this happy to hear they're doing a remaster of Warlords out in the beginning of 2019, I think Capcom are only doing it to test if there's anyone out there that still cares about Onimusha
I swear Samonosuke looks younger the older he gets... he practically has a baby face in this game. In Warlords he looks in his 40's, in this he looks in his late 20's max

His ability to speak with the deads is a clue on his true identity, because he found the rosary of com in the underground of Inabayama castle that allows him to speak with the deads.
My favorite thing about this guy was that they never out right say he's actually Sammanoske. Instead, you kinda learn to put the pieces together. The fact that his theme is the same, he wears the same armor, even his companion, Arin, is actually Ako from the third game.
People say .. that back during the final days of World War 2 , Emperor Hirohito of Japan wanted to cooperate with the Genma to defeat the US and turn the tide of the War. Luckily Samanosuke came back and told Hirohito, " No.. "
To be fair, outside of his boss battle and the final round vs Claudius, you only hear this theme if you rush into the Dark Realm at stages 1-20 and 81-100.
Onimusha is a damn Manga? I mean that's not completely unbelievable I mean a lot of people loved the series and still love it regardless. I'll admit that guildenstern is the Troll of the onimusha series but they should bring him back to life in 5 I really liked that guy.

The latter never made it to the west, but I have its Chinese version if you are interested XD you can buy the 1st one in print on Amazon. Dawn of Dreams was immensely popular in Japan and had a huge fan base. And I feel the same about Guildenstern, he's just too hilarious. I especially love the part where he admitted to stealing Oni tech and patents and was so proud of himself XD
I am convinced that Takeshi Kaneshiro's contract with the game expired when Dawn of Dreams started, that is why Tnkai does not look like Takeshi Kaneshiro
Yes, he's also voiced by Hideo Ishikawa (Auron (FFX), Itachi Uchha (Naruto)) instead of Kaneshiro in the original version. Also in the last pachislots released by Capcom featuring Oni 3 they changed Samanosuke and Jacq's faces and voices.
Only thing that really bothers me is the different VA. It's super weird considering Josh Keaton was the voice of Ranmaru in Oni 3. And he's also Munenori though he tries his best to sound different i guess. Robin Atkin Downes would've been just enough to not make me care about them not using Kaneshiros face anymore.

Assuming he changed his name, because he was being hunted by Nobunaga's army. He went into hiding for a while the same way Jubei did. I'm just glad he returned and this is one of my favorite series.
I won't give spoilers away, but yes they rearranged Samanosuke's theme from the opening of Onimusha 3. Give this one a chance if you can, you won't be disappointed.

I don't think Jubei is an Oni, she only has demon roots in her family - Onimusha 2 Jubei's mother. Ohatsu neither as it was said in the game that her power comes from Oda family bonds. Same with Roberto... Doesn't he have exorcism prayer beads inside his arms? I thought this was of more religious significance 😛 only these who received their powers from Ogres directly can be called Onimusha I think, and that makes them 3. It's curious that the all draw their powers from souls though.
When i understood who he was, I was like: "Hhhhhhhh SAAAAAAMAAAAAAAAAAAA IS THAT YOUUUUUUUUU OR IS IT JUST MEEEEE!?" My mom almost had an heart attack I screamed for real 😂😂😂
A little late but... The thing is, Samanosuke's model for the initial series got modeled from a real person(same with Jubei from oni2). Given that this would require copyrights, and that Onimusha 4 wasn't planned (3 was supposed to be the last one), they probably had some problems using the same actor face again. Also 4 wasn't produced with the same staff, so there might be the reason too.
I like the whole Dawn of Dreams story never told but just give some hint here and there about tenkai's true identity, at the sametime his theme is just a perfect spoiler for all onimusha fans.

The fourth one took place 36 years after the first Onimusha took place. Of course, Samanosuke is going to look older! The gauntlet gave him the power to fight demons, not be immortal!

That’s pretty much it kinda sad though I loved the “face scanned” look in 1-3 and DOD felt like an anime but I enjoyed it just as much as 3
