- Oklahoma City Thunder guard Jalen Williams has been named to the 2022-23 NBA All-Rookie First Team, it was announced today by the NBA.
Williams is just the second Thunder player to earn NBA All-Rookie First Team honors and the fifth Thunder player overall to be named to an All-Rookie team.
This season Williams appeared in 75 games (62 starts) and averaged 14.1 points on 52.1% shooting, 4.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.37 steals in 30.3 minutes per game. Among rookies, his steals led the league, while his points, assists and field goal percentage each ranked fourth.
The Santa Clara product scored 20-plus points in 17 games this season, second-most by a rookie in Thunder history. He scored at least 15 points in 10 straight games, the second-longest streak by a rookie this season, and scored in double digits in 15 of his last 18 games.
Williams was awarded Western Conference Rookie of the Month twice this season, for games played in October/November and March/April, becoming the third Thunder player to earn multiple Rookie of the Month honors. He also became the 13th Thunder player named to a Rising Stars team at the 72nd NBA All-Star Weekend.

Okc sure knows how to pick talent ❤
This current OKC squad is the most positionless basketball team in the history of the NBA
I'm so excited for them next season. I wonder what they can accomplish
Obviously there’s so much to be excited about with this team, but I think being so positionless is an underrated aspect of them. One thing we learned from the nuggets run last year is how impactful positionless players are especially on defense. Besides murray and jokic, denver’s whole eight man rotation could guard nearly any position if necessary, and I can definitely see okc developing a similar defensive identity. But what’s so exciting is the opportunities on offense. I love the idea of pretty much running four wings with sga, giddey, jdub and joe or dort plus chet at center. I think in late game scenarios it’s gonna make okc a nightmare to defend.
@@abedozier4212 positionless basketball is very underrated. The Bulls with a healthy Lonzo is a prime example of this. One big with four athletic wings that can cut and shoot.
They work well together. He is a great team player.

He became a good 3 point shooter as the season went on. Was in the upper 20s percent for a while and ended up at like 34 I think. Hopefully that shooting is real and even improves and flirts with 40 percent. He’ll be stupid good if so.
Also, thinking about his potential as a defender has me extremely excited as well. Part of me wonders if he’ll be able to rival Dort defensively. He’s taller, longer arms, more athletic, also has a nice strong build. To me, it all comes down to when JDub has a couple more seasons under his belt and gets more used to the game. Has more time to work on it and get that defensive IQ. If all goes well, he’ll literally be a do-it-all player.
Imo hell play the “lebron” role of our team hes lengthy and has a deep bag on offense if improves his shooting i can see him making both the defensive team and the all nba team
