    Calling WinSxS as "Win-side-by-side" would be much easier. Great Video!

      Thank you for your support it is appreciated. I have looked at Sysmon many times as a potential video, not easy as it is very low level, and very little documentation. I will look again and see.

      I really wanted to cover alternate streams and many more 3rd party driver reparse points but my video was already 40 minutes. Thanks for watching!

    So let's say I have a workstation /server where the explorer.exe is corrupted. All the DISM commands failed to solve the issue. if I copy the explorer.exe that is located in c:\windows from a working workstation, it will be useless because actually I am just copying the hard link and not the file itself. So the solution would be to copy the file from the WinSXS folder on the working workstation/server but I suppose it will be a PITA because the file is protected. Am I right? 🤔

      Excellent question, when you copy even a hard-link off the volume ( remember the purpose of the HL to avoid duplicate files), the file system sends a "copy" of the real file, so yes you can take explorer off one computer and paste to another. I have done this in a pinch. WinSxS allows copies but you can not over-write or delete files as they are owned by the "Trusted Installer".

    What are the benefits of junction points when used with partitions?

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  8 месяцев назад

      Thanks for your support. You may split a large 12TB drive into partitions and boot to a 400GB partition and yet use junction points to automatically move unwanted files to a larger partition on that same drive. Another use would be VM *.vhdx which are very large files, you have a smaller partition for all of your VM's and you save a large partition as your target directory to hold all your *.vhdx files for easy backup.

    TechSavy I have a question:Is windows 11 stop update at 23H2?
    Beceause my father said on that version windows version 23H2 will stop upgrade and you need install some kind a software to trick windows to keep updating

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  7 месяцев назад

      No, Windows will never stop updating. Now once Microsoft declares a version of Windows "end of support", yes then no more updates.

    Deleting System32 is not recommended even it’s hard linked to WinSxS

    • @TechsavvyProductions
      @TechsavvyProductions  8 месяцев назад

      True, but I used to delete sometimes 400 to 600 *.dlls from \system32 and reboot and wager my students if it would boot to Windows or not. It rarely failed to boot. Thank you for your support!
