It _is_ the Sonic 1 level select code. Well, the American one anyway - according to Sonic Wiki Zone, the Japanese version has a different code for some reason.
Well that is interesting! Truth be told, I had no idea Sonic 1 even had level select in it lol. I never spent much time with the 2D Sonic games though.
The more important question to all this: Who on Earth gave the okay to print and publish this?! It feels so weird and creepy to include real people and photographs of real people in a cartoon comic series with an anthropomorphic hedgehog fighting against a vaguely egg-shaped human with a handsome mustache.
@@ajflink It's wild how _this_ got approved but another story that Mike and Ken pitched to Archie Comics (something about Robotnik's daily life - sounded kinda interesting, could've been decent IMO) didn't.
No offense but the joke of eggman about the princess could be simply a mario reference As in don't make the princess wait for you Just that he does it in an incredibly cruel and sarcastic way
I would like to think that the real Eggman knew how dumb IQ scores were so he did something to ensure his IQ score would be calculated as being 300. Also, yes, IQ scores are bs. There is no scientific backing to how it determines numeric values, the process of determining the IQ score has been described as convoluted, and they are no different than ACT and SAT scores being pointless. The last point has been validated by colleges accepting students without having to take it during the whole world virus thing. I took AP Calculus and Physics in a college prep high school and got honors all 4 years, yet, due to my ACT and SAT scores, I had to take some literature and mathematic courses in college that were easier than anything from high school.
The cool thing about awful pieces of media like this one is that they can serve as pretty good sources of inspiration. "How could I make this thing not suck?" I was going to put some ideas of mine about "Sonic Live rewritten", but I feel like that'd be a bit too close to self-promotion, so I'll leave it for another time. 😅 4:44 I can only hope they meant "no way you could've come up with this dimension-warping stuff all by yourself" and not what you said. Hard to say though, since this is Penders we're talking about - his writing style is weird and convoluted. 5:10-5:16 Unless a "ghost" Sonic forces him to. _[as shown in Issue 20]_ :P 7:14 It's actually the level select code from Sonic 1! Thank you, Sonic Wiki Zone) 7:38 _(insert that one Sonic Sez about being touched by others)_ 9:09 Fun fact! In one of the video inteviews with Ken Penders you can see that he has a copy of Sonic Live framed in his house. Can't say I blame him - if I managed to publish a story about my kids meeting their favourite fictional character, I would treasure it too. I wonder what Steve and Jessie (as full-grown adults by now - Ken even recently mentioned having grandkids) think of all of this?
Goes to show that I never knew Sonic 1 had a level select code lol. I did think a lot of what Ken's son and niece must think about being in this comic and I felt pretty weird showing their images. I can't speak for them, but I feel like if I were in their shoes I'd be kinda happy with that comic
So wait 🤣. The canon of the Archie comics is all based in a video game?
"The kids get sent back to the real world, and everyone is saved in the end."
Are they really? KP is still their Uncle...
lmao!
Sonic da kidnapper
lol exactly
I may be late to the party but that code on the controller may be the level select code from Sonic 1? I dunno...
