  • The Zombie is a ridiculous drink in many ways - so many ingredients, so many different interpretations, so much booze. This is my version of the drink, bringing in all the best bits I enjoy in a Zombie and putting them together to create something that I love, and I hope you will too. Although there are still a fair few ingredients, this recipe breaks down the ingredients into three groups - booze, juices and seasonings and has some tips to help you remember the recipe.

    I remember ordering one of these in a Belfast nightclub in the very early 2000s .....it was not good lol . But thus recipe sounds great!!

    Great recipe! And useful tipps! I created a very similar one regarding the measurements you might want to try. The Rum combination is fire 🔥
    22,5 ml Appleton Estate 12 Rum
    22,5 ml Plantation O.F.T.D. Rum
    22,5 ml Bacardi 8 Rum
    22,5 ml Lime Juice
    22,5 ml Pineapple Juice
    22,5 ml Grapefruit Juice
    15 ml Cinnamon Syrup
    7,5 ml Demerara Rich Simple Syrup
    7,5 ml Grenadine
    1 Barspoon of Zombie Mix (equal parts Angostura Bitters, Dry Cuaraçao, Falernum and Absinth)

    You’ve made it more complicated.
    Added pineapple juice, changed the ratios, omitted ingredients.
    You may as well call this a different drink entirely.

      Thanks for the comment - I do address that at 01:23 in the video. It takes the flavours and characteristics I enjoy the most in a Zombie and puts them together in a way I find balanced and delicious.
      With so many recipes and versions out there, I’m keen to hear as many recipes as possible though! What are your specs?

      You’ve sort of mashed up the 1950s Zombie specs that added pineapple and/or Passionfruit (though not in this drink) and the Steve Crane 1958 Jet Pilot.
      Honestly, every time I have a zombie, I’m just blown away by how harmonious the original spec is; substitutions of available rums in mind.
      As such I make it as close to the original as I can.
      ¾ oz lime
      10ml Grapefruit
      5ml Cinnamon syrup
      ½ oz Taylor’s Falernum
      1½ oz Havana Club 7
      1½ oz Jamaican rum - split between Myer’s for caramel depth and Smith and Cross for funk
      1 oz 151 Pussers
      3 dash Angostura bitters
      6 drops Pernod
      5ml grenadine - homemade
      5 drops Saline 20%
      I flash blend and dump, then top up.
      I also like the Tropical Standard 50s Zombie where they acid adjust the grapefruit up to lime juice acidity and add Passionfruit.
