- After a bunch of year wearing a neck gaiter the wrong way when fishing, I saw a tip about hinging the corners and admitedly I feel like a dumb ass. 😂 I can't believe I didn't know this and I hope some of you can use this tip!
I have just had an What! moment, I have definitely been wearing it the wrong way. I wear mine with a motorcycle helmet and glasses and stopped wearing one over the top of my head due to the problems you described. As they say, "every day is a school day". Thank you for that lesson, much appreciated.
Nice to see this simple thing documented. I do it all the time. For me, it is a motorcycle essential particularly in the winter.
Great point!
Great for on the bike on cold days. I have one that has a fleece neck part but has a smooth, thin head section - helmet slides on super easy and entire chin/neck is covered, no adjusting… search neck warmer with helmet liner if interested, they’re excellent.
Swedish motorcyclist here: I have one of these, but if I ride in winter, I have a really good balaclava hood that extends under my jacket like a medieval hood. Nicely padded/insulated too. Mind you I stop riding once there's ice on the ground. One of these days I'll just buy a 110/250cc dirt bike I can get proper winter tires for.
I wear one year round when riding my motorcycle. It makes it easier to put my helmet on, or take it off, it also protects my skin from the helmet strap. In the winter I use a (partially) fleece-lined one to keep me warm, and in the summer it protects me against the sun and more important flies and other little bugs.
Over the years I've collected a good number of Buff's, for different situations. My favorite is the merino wool Buff, which I wear almost year round.
I was today years old when I learned this. Thanks for the tip! I hate scarves so I use the gaiter.
Bloody brilliant. Thanks for taking the time and effort to make and share the video. A BIG thumbs up👍
Nice and straight forward video, thanks. I was looking for this style for my very first paintball game to avoid getting paint in my hair. Appreciate the time and effort to make this video. Happy fishing mate.
For years I've been using buffs and bandanas. Truly indispensable bits of gear. I'm from the north and I concur with you on the cold.
I work at a freezer warehouse and I always go to the washroom every break time because of this issue, always gets into my eyes. This helps! Thank you so much!
How I learned to do it is the pull the front top edge over my face, as you used to do, but pull the bottom rear edge over the back of my head, instead of the top back edge.
I like that method for to reasons:
It overlaps on my ears keeping them warm and against my head during winter.
It keeps only a single layer of cloth over my face which is nice in the summer.
Use case/preference. Make the call that makes sense for you.

Interesting tip, thanks. I only have one gaiter but I have found it's most useful to me when doing yardwork. Weedwhacking and mowing especially. Prevents that airborne grit in my teeth and nose. But---
I did use it this winter when shoveling snow on a very cold day. Was a great help to buffer that freezing cold air when breathing.
Gaiters are a wonderfully protective face tool. 👍🏻
Great tip! Always so knowledgeable on everything you cover and these little tid bits really are game changers. Thanks
Glad you could use it! I know I have been since seeing it.
Seriously wtf I've been wearing one for years and didn't know about this hack🤩 your a superstar 🥰🥰🥰 Cheers mate 🤩
Very helpful, straight to the point and simple to understand. Thanks for this video.
Gotta love yt for simplistic tips.
I never knew this.
Now I know one size fits all.
Thx for the share.
They are very versatile. I have about four, thin ones for summer and thick ones for winter. They are just so versatile. My first one had a pull string in one end so it could be closed up and worn as a hat.
One of the most useful tips I’ve seen. I use mine on a motorcycle and that tip helps a lot. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
Thanks, I saw this 'trick' before somewhere but forgot how to do it. Great video, straight to the point and found what I was looking for!
The original buff video that is very fast paced shows it
I've been wearing these things for a while now (years) mostly for dust blocking when running machinery outdoors, came in handy during the whole scare of 2020-now because they meet the criteria yet still allow me to breath normal. NEVER seen it done this way, just tried it(wearing one now and that's great! Thanks. Subbed.
They don't meet the criteria for preventing the spread of covid, if that's what you're talking about. The CDC specifically stated neck gaiters were not adequate face masks years ago. They always said if you're going to use a cloth mask, then it should have multiple layers of tight-woven cotton.
@@pendlera2959wouldn't have done anything no matter which cdc guidelines you followed
@@pendlera2959 and to go even further, Fauci told his coworker in private that cloth masks do nothing because the particles are too fine. Then he goes out on stage wearing 3 cloth masks.
@@pendlera2959 The test used was a single layer of fleece. Different materials and a second layer would alter performance. None of the common materials would be N95 levels of course.
I find these types of tips ‘priceless’. Thank you! Simple + Very Useful!
😌♥️👍🏽🇨🇦
You are so welcome!
Now that's the kind of content I'd like to see more of. Not this stupid I've bucket challenge nonsense.
Thanks for the tip!
I've been using those for more years than I can count, and yet today I learned something new. Thanks so much!!!
Happy to help!
Amazingly simple and eye opening! Thank you!
Thanks for the 'hinge' tip. I use these under my motorcycle helmet because they do 4 things: 1) stop my ears getting pulled down when I put the helmet on; 2) keep the sun off my face; 3) protect my skin from wind; and 4) keep my hair in place.
As a skier, I can agree with this. Instead of wearing a hat, I just pull the top of the gaiter down until it is on my eyebrows partially. I take the slack to the corners, triangle fold and tuck them in. The ski goggles cover the only exposed parts of your face. Works with or without a ski helmet and protects your face from windburn.
So simple! I can't believe I haven't seen this before! Thanks!!!
Damn! I’ve been wearing those for the past 4 yr at work (refrigerated distribution Center) and had the same issue. Thanks for sharing.
There are fleece ones or merino ones too. Which are warmer. They are very versatile. And I have a windproof one too. Thanks
Oh man, nice job! I really didn't know what to do with these. I always thought only a balaclava could do that. I know better now. I've got more options for skiing thanks to you!
I'm a snow skier. Been doing this for years, but it was never a good fit. Then I discovered an Adidas Alphaskin II balaclava. Best thing I've ever used. Got the hinge in the right place and breathable. Perfect for cold weather or sun protection. And yes...I get points for a toaster oven if you buy one. LOL!
Your tips help a lot. Thank you!
Glad to hear it!
Thanks! This is one of those "How did I not know this before? It's so obvious!" I'll be using this technique hiking in the mountains.
I wear them daily when I'm on the fill room at work - a refrigerated factory room, about 6 Celsius. This is gonna save me getting annoyed by it at work! Thanks mate
Sir this was very informative. I have to admit I use one for keeping the hat on and I have been wearing it wrong also.
Thank you
Great idea. Simple things are often the best
Tested and confirmed. Good tip. Thanks.
🤯 Never knew this trick. thank you!
Really great tip!!! Thank you so much!!
Excellent!! ❤ We use regular buffs and merino wool ones here in Norway! 🇳🇴 😊
Thank you for this tidy tip, super helpful 👍
That's a good tip!! Thanks. I used mine as a mask during covid (only in buildings where it was necessary) and now it has those crapy memories associated with it, but maybe enough time has gone by to dig it out of the drawer.
Very good tip man, i was searching a way to protect my face from sunlights. Thxs
Thanks man ! I had so many questions about this.
Hilarious delivery 😅
Buffs for the win guys. Ive taken to wearing one all the time, love it
just learned how to properly wear it, thank you brother
Game Changer! thanks JP , been cussing about the flappy flaps for years 😂
Thanks! Good to know! I need to get me one of these to cover my face in this cold weather! Been meaning to, just haven't yet. I'll remember this.
Thank you ! I learned something new! 🙏 thank you.
Thank you so much. Preferably with a beanie on top for cold and windy areas!
I'm glad I found this video because I work on the back of a trash truck and we pick up brush and bulk items for collection services and as we are packing the back of the truck a lot of dust and what's the whatever comes out having a gator mask but text your face from one getting covered in dust and you're not breathing in all that hard stuff that's coming out from the back of the truck thank you for this video it helps me out especially because I wear glasses too
Glad I could help
Thanks for the tip. We call this tube mask and I use this when I go cycling.
Another + of this way and others of covering your mouth in cold weather is heat management of air, what you breathe. This little pocket will help you to preheat it a bit for it to go warmer through your throat. Especially helpful, when you have to be in guard, or generally stay without lots of movement for a period of time
Thanks for the tip. Another consideration is to take your hat off and do exactly this and then place your hat over the buff....so it doesn't stretch the fabric out so much. The extra thickness also keeps your hat snug.
Boom! I didn't know...great info. Thanks!
Mind blown. Thanks man!
Well, I learned something today. Thanks!
I didnt know this. Great video.
Useful tip, that and how to turn a Buff into a hat are my top 2 conversions now, cheers. Love the wall full of photo's of Yourself too.
I can't believe I've never know this. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome
When one is active in sub zero conditions you need to adjust clothing alot more than in warm conditions, its a balance between sweating and freezing. Im from sweden and i use it alot, any usual day, when i trek in the mountains or go hunting capercallie on skis in the winter for example.
Thanks, I live in Texas so Buff's are not common attire cause it is so fricken hot but I like to go backpacking on Appalachian Trail and it gets cold on those mountains, so thanks, it helps.
I use them down South all the time, I just switch to the lighter / cooling ones like from Simms.
very helpful 😂
I just bought one for kayaking and I wear glasses too. Mystery solved!!!!! 😂
holy moly, never knew this.. THANK YOU :)
Thank you! Will come in handy when snowplowing.
Glad to help!
Dude this is super helpful! Cheers
thats pretty slick, i like holding on the hat
Thanks for posting 🎉
There are 11ways to wear this neck gaiter, I'm working in the factory which making this product.
12
Yeah 12. Work harder
You can wear it more than 11 ways
Any reason why they state on the wash instructions, on the mission gaiter. “Wash before first use”. Is there any health concerns if we didn’t do so? Just finished hand washing my black mission gaiter. And it turned my whole tub black. I don’t think that’s good.
@@paulflores8944 have Liann talk to Kuki about the dye issues.
Great Tip! Also like your hat 🧢
Ok that is really useful… the Buff website should add these tips on the chart.
Works great, thanks 😊
very good advice. I wear it similar to you but UNDER my cap or hat (low winds in middle of Europe)
Perfect
Hey mate this is a great tip, cheers.
After see watching this video..... I know exactly how you felt! lol Thanks for this quick and amazing tip!
You are so welcome!
I wear glasses and I found when I cover my nose in cold weather the hot air from my breath dogs up my glasses so I can't see. It's the same as wearing a mask.
Thanks for the tip!
I don’t think there is any wrong way to wear this product. I do drum cover videos for RUclips, and sweat getting into my eyes while playing is an issue. I used to use head bands, but they never worked as well as these. I’ve used “Buffs” in various different ways for about 13 years- but I now use (also) them to cover my head, as a sort of hat/headscarf. No sweat problem anymore! Really versatile product 👍
Perfect for under a motorcycle helmet. No more sunburned face on long rides! Thx!!!
Great video! 👍👍
Great advice dude! Thanks!
You bet!
A big THANK YOU!
Great tip!
Nice idea , thanks for filming
No problem 👍
Wow.Amazing.Just wow.
Really good tips
I put two on, when I am on my bike 🏍️ I pull one on and right down so it’s like a scarf then pull the second on and up so it’s over my mouth and nose and now I’ll be trying the fold over trick 👍
I have skin issues and wear gaiters that have a high SPF to block the sun. Thanks for the tip.
Happy to help!
Thanks for the demo
Nordic greetings.
I have the same issue. Boating in subzero weathers. This will help. Thanks 🙏
I love it when people make complicated simple_ I currently have six & utube tutorials showed me many manipulating styles but not this one & yes like you I did it the ugly way😆with the floppy front🤣
Very useful, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Awesome, thank you!!!
Helpful info.. good lookin out bro
This is still gold
Brilliant, thanks. 👍
Thankyou so kuch for this tip
Very helpful!! I also wear glasses!
You can also flip the bottom front up so its inside is out but covers your mouth and nose
you gotta be kidding me, I just tried after this video and it works!!!!
Nice! That's cool! Thanks
You can also use it as a skull cap.
Put one end on your head, like you would a skull cap, take the top excess, twist it around a little bit, then tuck it down the same way you tucked the other end, on your head.
You now have a makeshift skull cap, beanie.
