Hey Alex, I tend to go in depth with all my reviews so if you enjoyed it stick around and watch some more I mainly do switch games but a lot of them are on steam as well 😁 yea it's currently discounted on release but will no doubt see its self in a steam sale sometime in the future.
Just picked this up on Steam. I played through the first couple levels and I absolutely adore this game. I've always been a big fan of the Medievil art style and am a HUGE fan of old school games like Maximo. There aren't a lot of games like this that just scream Halloween. This game arrived at the perfect time. Can't wait to play more.
Is the steam version better? Been curious about this game for a long time now. It's on sale currently $10 on steam and $12 on switch, funny hiw the switch manage to still be more expensive lol
@@redcrimson1028 it’s definitely better on steam than Switch. It ran really well. I played it again this last Halloween on my PS5 and it looked fantastic.
@@AluccardX didn't know it was on the ps5 as well. I wonder if there's a physical version? It look pretty good on the switch too but ok thanks for your recommendation.

It is K K, I had my doubts but a lot has gone into the game, its combat and platforming feels like classic platformers did in its simplicity but there are plenty of additional features to keep things fresh. Cheers K K.

Hey Tobi, hopefully you enjoy it when you get it, its challenging at certain points but feels like some good oldskool platforming fun, you're welcome matey
I really want to play this but I'm torn at this point with some of the complaints. I wonder if he will update some things after getting feedback. The PC version already has a few updates but mostly bugs.
@@SwitchStars Mostly what Dinosaurprince was saying. Or just general enhancements taken from feedback. One review mentioned a lost woods style section could use a tweak, add a reward for all collectibles, added section with difficult platforming those kind of things.
That lost woods section confused me, its like the birds are breadcrumbs, I thought I had to go in the direction that they were but it was the opposite. It would be good to see some additional content for it, give reasons to kill enemies and more rewards.
Tbh I didn't think there was that much to complain about, I think many people are being pretty picky, it plays very much like an old school 3d platformer which I doubt many of the players have actually experienced. Some games had very little reward for collectable or killing enemies and its the same with Pumpkin Jack.
If I'm honest, beyond Nintendo first parties, the Switch isn't really a AAA console IMO. There are plenty of great indie games and the e-shop is an absolute minefield so I highly recommend watching reviews on YT before buying any game as ports to the Switch arent the best. I hear Dark Souls is a good port though, Hades is as amazing as always and Monster Hunter Rise is supposedly excellent.
Did u encounter the bug where u get to the final boss and the screen just goes pink and u can't keep going? It happened to me and a lot of people and we just can't finish the game 🤔
Yea one of the other guys has also said they have had the bug, I think it is caused by a patch they released after the game launched, I was playing a pre-launch version for the review.
Also no exp, or anything to make you feel like your doing something.. anything useful. I feel the same about bullet sponges. Poor ai but huge health pool.
Yea the game isn't that difficult, there are some tricky jumping parts and a couple of annoying elements to the minigames, but in all its not overly challenging. I do wish there was more reason to fight enemies though, its nice to feel like you're progressing your character in some way, but I guess a lot of old 3D platformers didn't offer any reason to kill enemies either.
@@SwitchStars Hmmmm, you make good points. lol. I was just ranting at how devs or really companies have gotten lazy at how they handle and create a game. This is different, I mean one dude did this. I respect that.

@@joshspears3951 I havent played Medievil for a long time but I remember it being a tough game, I personally think Pumpkin Jack is easier due to combat being more fluid and controls less clunky.

This game isn’t worth $10. The writing is obviously done by someone’s who second language is English. This makes The opening story particularly bad. The games visuals blend everything together into a pastel soup that strain your eyes. the story has nothing to do with Halloween. You work for the devil killing his minions for ‘reasons.’ The collectables are just crows heads that can be used for cosmetics. So they are useless time wasters. Combat has you mashing buttons at what appear to look like skeletons, but they are a blurry mess. Jack makes the same annoying sound with each dialogue pop up. This laziness gets sickening fast.
Personally I didn't think the writing was that bad, it's a 3D action platformer in the style of old games, it doesn't really need an intricate plot, and I really don't get why it has to have something to do with Halloween??
