Thanks a lot for your advice. I’m now running the Solaris with a reference 8 cable and Final E tips on my Hugo2 and it’s a...DREAM The ref. 8 cable reduces the harshness of the highs and actually gives you more bass as well. While traveling I use my Huawei Pro 30 with an Audioquest Cobalt cable and exactly same components into the Mojo. And also that works BEAUTIFUL.
Another great video! I was lucky to try both this classic edition and the new 2020 Solaris and while they are both great, I really preferred the classic one and bought it, the sound just worked for me, amazing product!
Just ordered a pair of these. Sadly the right channel on my Shure SE846s failed (6 years of use so can't complain really) and I was getting itchy feet with the advancements in IEMs now-a-days. Can't wait to hear how these sound paired with the Mojo and hoping they are comfortable!
I upgraded from the se846s to these and I think the Solaris blows the se846 away in every way except comfort - the se846 was the most comfortable IEM I've ever tried. The Solaris has a holographic sound with a unique kind of sparkle that I have not heard in other IEMs. The bass, mids, and highs all sound better than the se846 for me, the bass quantity is less in the Solaris but I find it to be higher quality. If you're a full on basshead I'd stick with the se846, also you might need to experiment with tips to make the Solaris comfortable.
@The Way I don't have an I phone but these headphones are not that hard to drive you can definitely get good sound straight from a phone but you may have some annoyance from crosstalk

Nice review! I just got mine 4 days ago and still undergoing burn-in process. I am pairing it with the AK SP1000M Royal Gold and I have to agree with you! As the SP1KRG is with a warm sound signature, it matches perfectly with the Solaris! So Ken Ball recommended 100+ hrs I am not even hitting the 50 mark yet... Can't wait to see how it will end up sounding with full potential unleashed!
Hi, I really like your video, I would like your point of view: mostly I listen to classical and jazz music, I use an Iphone, Qobuz for the music and if I add the Campfire Solaris and the FIIO Q5S, what do you think of that combination ? Thanks for your return.
Thanks for the nice video. I have exactly these version of the solaris campfire and I have an issue. Even using an amp in low gain mode, they become to loud at roughly 30% of the volume. Is this a know issue and is there a solution for that?
@@Currawong thank you, I will give it a try. Is there quality loss? and the fundamental question is what kind of driver are these in-ears made for, with such a low impedance?
I haven't tried the Cube, but the N6ii (review soon) is on the warmer side. A&K are on the "analytical" side. I'd say pick whichever suits your sound preferences.
I really wish this one was cheaper, the cheaper Comet ones look amazing due to the silver art deco steamlined design but they won't sound as awesome as these!
Can you compare the tonality to the 99 classics? I have them so it'd help me understand better. I like an upper mid emphasis but not at the quantity the 99's do where at times it's shallow and shouty
Any chance you've heard these through a Mojo or ifi Micro / xdsd? Looking to pair them with a home desktop dac. (but not much budget left after buying them lol).
Hi, I don’t know to much or anything about headphones and audiophile stuff but I bought the sennheiser momentum true wireless, I just listen to music on my iphone and stuff. Does this kind of earphones are in another league? Superior
Is this a worthy upgrade from the andromeda? I tried a pair of demo solaris and felt the base felt thinker on the solaris (on Ray browne tracks). Did not have a DAC to drive it at the time of demo. Would like to get your openion, thanks!
Currawong have you tried the Noble Audio k10’s? Interested in either the k10’s, andromeda’s or Solaris but I’m stuck deciding between them (I don’t have a local dealer where I can audition them). Thank you
@Otie Jason Because it's not primarily based on the tips. Depending on the driver set-up, the tips used can affect the tuning to varying degrees. But you can't, for example, change the tips on a cheap pair of IEMs and make it sound as good as an expensive pair, for example. A lot more is going on than that.
Not sure if this will still be useful to you but they sound pretty good with the dragonfly red, very slight hiss when no music is playing but fine otherwise. No hiss at all and sound tighter with the Dragonfly Cobalt
@@indikagunaratne8360 Heard bad things about the Cobalt in terms of audio which is why I didn't pay any more for it. I'm very happy with the red though. Thanks for the reply
If I dislike Andromeda for being too bright, will I find Solaris too bright as well? Is the high similar between Solaris and Andromeda? Thanks a loooooot!
Personally I dislike the long sessions with my Andromeda due to comfort issues. I'm curious why you say smaller ears do not have to worry as this one seems worse no? I understand the nozzle is longer which allows for a deeper insertion I guess but the shell is still huge. Does it hang out of your ear? Does it touch any of the sides of your ear constantly , applying pressure, resulting in a sore pain after a marathon session?
It doesn't touch any part of my ear at all. The only contact is through the tips and the cable. In other words, it doesn't insert deeper, but the body of the IEMs sits further away from your ear.
I've posted a written review, with both shallow and deep insertion pictures: www.headphone-earphone.reviews/2019/01/11/campfire-audio-solaris-the-new-flagship/

@Otie Jason I have changed my setup around and I´m rather content nowadays. I owned the cascade for a long time and I´d say it was a pretty good headphone. For me personally, the clamping force was very suboptimal and it felt very loose on my head. Essentially that meant I didn´t use them on the go but more when sitting still. If that´s the case, I much prefer the ZMF Verite Closed (Other price bracket though). In comparison for my portable needs, I have switched to Xelento (wireless) which I use both wireless and remote and I couldn't be happier :>). When I come home, I use my ZMF Verite Closed (relatively open sounding without bothering my wife). I once belived in portable headphones like a Cascade but I've since come to the conclusion that personally I much prefer IEM's when going out and a solid headphone fit for the purpose at home :)
How is it with these nozzles? I already see they are a bit plugged with wax. Is there any closure further? How you supposed to clean it from wax? Really find it a bad design idea.
You clean them the same as you would with any other pair of IEMs: point the nozzles down and brush them with the included brush. A better idea is cleaning your ears carefully before listening though.
Unless I've completely misunderstood your question, regular IEMs like the Solaris don't contain batteries. All the amplification is done by whatever you plug them in to.
Possibly, depending on the smartphone. I wouldn't, for preference, buy IEMs this expensive just to use with a phone though. They tend to highlight how bad the audio quality of devices are as much as anything else.
