  • In this video I review the Kubota Z232 and Bobcat ZT2000. Both are residential zero turn mowers in the $5000-$5500 price range.
I also take a quick look at some higher end Kubota mowers and I saw some Dixie Choppers so I couldn't help but do a quick look at those as well.
    Which mower would you buy?

I agree with the dealer thing. My John Deere dealer has so many service centers. 15 hours I had to get corporate involvement to find when I was getting my motor replaced under warranty. Now I know what makes the service department jump.

I have the Bobcat ZT2000 48". It is a solidly built unit. The cut quality is very nice. My only gripe is the front spindle forks. It uses bushings instead of bearings. Schiller Grounds Care is the manufacturer for Bobcat. My unit was $48850 out the door.

Bobcat makes their own mowers. Made in Wisconsin.

The deck height system and mounting is light years above the kubotas. That kubotas deck has lowes riding mower esk suspension. Also weak little thin casters. Dial height system has multiple points to fail. Even the hardware and bolts on the bobcat are beefier. The kubotas spindles looked like ones out of a push mower. I spent over a year comparing every entry level ztr and the bobcat like you said had the most commercial features. Super happy with mine.

I have the Bobcat, too. My only gripe is bushings in the spindle forks. I'd rather have bearings. Bushings cheaper to replace, though. It replaced a Gravely ZTHD.

Friend of mine purchased a Kubota ZRT a few years back. Not long after the first few spins around his yard, he discovered an issue with the bolts that secure the engine to it's mounting bracket. For some reason they had a tendency to vibrate loose. Kubota did nothing. I found that odd. It wasn't possible for Kubota to provide lock washers or lock nuts? He finally was able to cure the problem but it was quite difficult due to the engineering of the unit. It was hard to manipulate the correct size tools to properly tighten the bolts to prevent the issue from returning. You would have thought the Kubota dealer would have lend some form of involvement.

That Plastic Rear Guard On The Kabota Is JUNK

For warranty more time > more hours for a residential unit. It’ll be parked a lot more than a commercial unit. Some customers may only put 5 hours every other week on a residential unit so the 36 months will go further than the 500 hours.

The Bobcat 2000 and 3000 has the mounting holes for a roll bar, but it would have to come from Bobcat would be my guess,,, I have looked online for an aftermarket roll bar with no luck

Having had a Craftsman 1000 kholer for many years and still running but it's time to upgrade. After lots of RUclips and Google and physical researching I went to a FERRIS Dealership TOPS. In my area Harlingen TX according to them nobody has any 42" or 48" available not even the warehouse, they'll have to be made and it'll take around 2 to 6 months to a year. 8-5 Hrs of operation and they're always jammed with people needing service but they don't can't help anybody. TERRIBLE customer service so just imagine trying to get parts or maintenance. Stopped at a KUBOTA and customer service was fast attentive huge store and fully stocked organized plus they have many Kubota locations everywhere. 4 year warranty too. Bought the KUBOTA 42" Z232 Kawasaki zero turn with free delivery next day. Very happy with SERVICE and feel confident about continuing business with Kubota and will be buying more from them .

Hello, I run a small residential lawn cutting service and wanted to get a zero turn without breaking the bank. I was considering a Ferris 300s, Bad Boy MZ Magnum, Bad Boy ZT Elite, and a Husqvarna Xcite z350 . Do you have a recommendation? Thank you.

    • @Mechanical_Mind

Out of those I would choose the Bad Boy ZT Elite. Heavier deck and transmissions. 7 gauge deck and 3100 hydro gear transmissions

I’m interested in the 48 inch deck .. it come with the Kohler 7000 .. is the Kawasaki FR730 worth an additional $700 in your opinion? Also if you have any other suggestions, I appreciate it .. Thank you

    • @Mechanical_Mind
      @Mechanical_Mind  Год назад +1

$700 is a big jump in $. I don't have much experience working on the Kohler 7000s but I've heard they have common issues. I know the EFI Kohlers used on the commercial mowers were having a serious issue with oil pans cracking and leaking out all of the oil. I think Kawasaki is overall the best brand being commonly used. Just my opinion.

2024 is en route so prepare for beyond ferocious competition in this massive market segment. For Residential will be all about pure battery electric/E-go which i think is owned by John Deere now. I've seen Massey Ferguson making noise in the Tractor market at retail that's all that is new...but is new. Dual wheel rear tires are still all the rage for those serious about commercial work going on forever now. Articulation as well. 2000 pound towing capacity hitting big time for UTVs now but of course they start at $20,000 as you have shown which is an over the top amount of money when considering you can buy used iron for free/get it running it's yours that is better than new and spend all your nut on implements rather than Main Event as should be done.

Using the mower as a residential mower you will never run over 500 hrs in 36 months. Bobcat takes the warranty class. If you use it for commercial then the Kubota wins hands down. Then again you would be buying a commercial unit.
