As a bass fisherman for over 30years for the last 5 I'm at around 85% throwing an 8in +swimbait in Massachusetts.Ive caught more big bass over 5 lbs than ever! I'm going to throw big suspended jerkbaits early this year.
Randy back in the early 90’s when the Big AC Plugs were all the rage at Lake Fork….We got on a deal in February were we started throwing the Saltwater version of the Bomber Long A ( jumbo jerkbaits ) casting them with 17 to 20lb. Mono , to keep the bait high in the water column, we caught some nice bass twitching that jumbo jerkbait around shallow cover.
It's a killer fall bait as well. Smallmouth nail it. In the Chicago area, salmon and trout also knock the paint off of em during their fall runs. I like to throw it on a 7ft medium heavy fast rod on 15lb flouro. Make long bomb casts and give it hard rips. It's such a fun bite when they're on it
you knows whats crazy randy. i've thrown a 75mm 90mm 110mm and 130mm jerkbait a lot over the past 2 years in the pre spawn. idk if its because i live in the north east and our pre spawn is so short but the last 2 years the 75mm jerk has dominated everything else for size and numbers.
Great information as always!! I remember out fishing one spring evening using a suspending rogue and I caught a 10" smallmouth!! I got a notification today that my order is on it's way from Baitwrx!!! Thank you!!
I fish all sizes of jerkbaits. Depends on conditions and body size of water. Small mouth prefer smaller baits in small creek systems or lakes less than ten acres. I've caught some really nice large mouths on three to four inch baits.
55K subscribers!! I signed up when it was in the hundreds or better yet when your was called Fishing with the OG (still love that name better). I have some big Rapalas that I had to tune with golf club weight. I’ll be looking at the Megabass line next.
I caught 5lb and 3.8 spotted bass yesterday on mt island lake”lake of the 1 pounder “ doing exactly what you just said and previous jerk bait tips I learned watching your videos. Thanks!!
Hi Randy, Your videos are fantastic. I’ve learned so much in just a short time. My question is: considering that the Kanata has such a large air space inside the body, how much weight is needed to be added to achieve neutral buoyancy? Is it a ridiculous amount of suspend strips or just a few. Thank you for taking your time to respond. Have a great night. George
Great info. Gonna have to try this out on the dinner table on Fork fish should be staging there in the next week or so and beginning to suspend for pre spawn action it’s gonna be hot there I’m sure
Still trying to catch something with the kanata for 2 years. Been throwing 70% of the time on my trips of those years still nothing but I caught alot on magnum and lbo's 2, they are big too especially the lbo 2, it's only a few cm short of the kanata. I'm shooting to catch ar least one this year
Never tried anything like that before because we don’t have the size fish for it but got a couple lakes opened up 4 hrs away I am starting to fish so I’ll be trying it out there
Never had much luck on jerk bait fishing. Getting old and I don’t want to work that hard. This year I’m really going to try to focus on it. Because I have buddies that smash donkeys on it!!!
It depends where you are and what you use. Kanata? Say no to drugs. LBO? Okay product. If you only/mainly use these, I wouldn't even call you average....maybe below average or amaters. Eh, who da fook is I?

I have done well in the prespawn on the Rapala 09 rip-stops. Never experimented with bigger jerks though!
..usually the biggest jerk in the boat is me
I've used vision 110s and rerange but that rip stop catches just as many bass. I live that little jerkbait
Shhhh...😆
It’s getting to be that magical time of year...!!! Definitely gonna try the bigger bait this year...
Good info! I haven't really fished the larger jerkbaits very much but will be giving them a try.
Loving the hat!!!😁Late night in the "Tackle Room"still trying it Randy but no fish yet😬I'll get one😁

Caught several yesterday on the Nanahan. I'm starting to really like this jerk bait fishing. Thanks for the tips.
Can't wait to get my jigs ordered day of release and still haven't got it's worth the wait good video
They just about got everything caught up so it shouldn’t be much longer. Thanks for the patience
This is why on sunny clear days u go with translucent colors it blends in the water so the bass has a harder time making out your fishing lure
That French Pearl coloured Vision 110 looks like it would be fire for our European Sea Bass here in the UK.
Loving the content Randy great work 👍
One of the best largemouth colors.
…the one he’s holding doesn’t look like the pearl tho. I think that’s ghost sexy Shad.
@@jpvand1 it was the top one in the thumbnail I was referring to
Thanks for the tips 👍🏼

Caught a few on them this past year they are a little different to work. I weighted some to almost suspend so we will see how that goes before long.

What rod/line do you suggest?
Plus it goes with the place you are fishing , bigger bass lakes also , down south in Louisiana there is not as many of those giants
@@jamesbarron1202 hurricanes too bro , I eat a few speckle trout no bass
