Hicks, ...I've had some great chapters with your work, ...but I'm now finding it makes me feel like I am going mad, pretending that nothing feels bad, all good
I think this is where most of our inner conflict comes from especially when we have a disapproving parent who makes you feel like everything you do is wrong. We feel incompetent and unworthy. I remember feeling angry that my mom could not see things my way and I think she mirrored the same feeling because it was a constant power struggle. I recognized that most of our feuds were pointless because it did not fix anything or resolve anything. She still could not see any clearly or could not relate to me at all, she would just look at me in disbelief as if I was a problem. I learned to make peace with it. We both have conflicting viewpoints and I knew she wasn't going to change me to come to her side. I know my own mind and I know what is best for me to help me gain my balance back. I no longer feel the need to hold her responsible for how I feel.
“You can’t get there from here” I’ve always heard Abraham say this but it makes a lot more sense now. Now I’m understanding to work my way up the emotional scale by asking myself what emotion feels better than this one?
