In the Quran - Allah said in Surah Louqman n°31 verse 6 (close translation of the meaning of the verse): “And among the people there are some who, devoid of knowledge, buy pleasant speeches to stray from the path of Allah and to make fun of him. These will suffer a degrading punishment.” According to Abou Sahba, the companion 'Abdallah Ibn Mass'oud (may Allah be pleased with him) said regarding this verse: "I swear by Allah that it is about music." (Reported by Al Hakim in his Moustadrak n°3599 who authenticated it and Imam Dahabi approved it. It was also authenticated by Sheikh Albani in Silsila Sahiha vol 6 p 1017) The companion 'Abdallah Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said regarding this verse: "Music and what resembles it." (Reported by Boukhari in Al Adab Al Moufrad n°1265 and authenticated by Cheikh Albani in Sahih Al Adab Al Moufrad n°955)
