As a long time fan of Warlord, this makes me happy to see them be reviewed here!
I would Love to see a Ranking of early U.S Epic/Power metal bands together. Lots were very influential ,but only had a handful of albums. Warlord, Omen, Virgin Steele, Jag Panzer. I wore out my VHS copy of 'Cannons of Destruction....", William Tsamis had a Uli Jon Roth/euro classical vibe to his playing that was really catchy and fluid.
Anything with Mark Zonder can't be bad. I will check it out. Thanks Pete
Great band lucky to see them in Germany few years back amazing 💯💯💯💯🤘🤘🤘
Thanks for this, I love Warlord
'Deliver Us' and The Holy Empire' are super good efforts. Very interested to hear this.
.....and the cannons of destruction was one of my fav. Metal albums of the 80's are a totally unique and original sounding band. Killer songs and musicianship with enough riffs to melt anyone's face!! Also Mark Zonders ( Thunder child) Bonham meets Peart drumming still impresses me to this day!! Brilliant!! I can't wait to hear the new one.
Yngwie even said Warlord was one of his favorite metal bands of the 80's ... "cannons of destruction" is a must have!! Thanks Pete!!🤘
Excellent clean sounding vocals guitars. Memorable tracks. The ending of Twin reminds me of BJH Mockingbird - no bad thing. Overall terrific album. One of the best so far this year.
Well, Pete, you were right. I received my cd, and it's fantastic.🤘
New music for Pete? Makes the review that much more interesting. Hope once you review the rest, Pete, that you will do some sort of album ranking or reviews of the other albums. Great intro hear and very little of the bombastic metallic approach that often leaves me less interested at this point. Something in the sound of this - maybe the 80s sound Pete mentions - gets this one caught in my ears quite a bit. Seems to be one that will be played often int the coming weeks and months. Thanks once again, Pete, for the breadth of albums and bands included in the weekly new product episodes. One never knows what new album will catch the ears.
Totally agree with you, its a very good album!
the holy Empire is their best album,,, take a listen to the song 7000 sorrows , fantastic !!
i agree
I would suggest listening to Deliver Us.
I really like this CD. Should be interesting to hear your review.
Deliver Us is arguably the greatest Metal EP of the 80s, phenomenal melodic writing and a special unique atmosphere.
Their music is actually the antithesis of "Heavy" in many ways - they're one of the "lightest" Metal bands, but are all the better for being so - it adds to the atmosphere.
The Lordian Guard albums Tsamis did in the 90s are even "lighter" but manage to still capture the Heavy Metal spirit in their "Epicness" and Atmosphere.
Like being transported to a land far away, that time has forgotten. Great stuff!
Well, consider my arm twisted. I was on the fence about this one until your review. I will be picking this up now. I saw Mr. Lavery perform with Alcatrazz at a club in Washington, D.C. called the Black Cat. Excellent vocalist in a live setting, he Joe Stump and the original Alcatrazz contingent really showed out that night. Girlschool headlined, with Alcatrazz, and Lilian Axe in support.
High Roller Records are fantastic
Deliver us is a classic early 80s metal album, actually one of the first of that era I listened to.
Check out their song 70,000 Sorrows cheers
Invaders, Thy Kingdome Come......my 2 fave songs in their catalogue......love the new album, Bill would be proud !!
Invaders is a banger, but Thy Kingdom Come crawls around the bottom for me :D
@@realmusiciswithinstruments9915 the arrangements on that are out of this world
did pete grade this or did I just miss it?
Pete, have you checked out any of the older material yet,??...love to hear your verdict.....
I've already ordered this one without hearing it. I mean, look at that artwork!! I've liked all of their stuff before, so I took the plunge. Thanks for the review, Pete!
I loved Deliver Us then I kinda lost track of the band. I heard this album just recently. I dig it. Thanks for the great review Pete.
Hadn't listened to Warlord in years.... Glad U liked it Pete & will have to ✅ this one out!!!
I thought this one was pretty good. A little bit too much European PM influence on some songs. 7.5/10
I listened to this a couple weeks ago.. Really enjoyed it.. Looking forward to hearing what Pete thought of it.. i recommend it.. \m/ \m/
I remember you messaging me about this. The local record store had this for akmost 30 dollars on cd. Not sure why.
@@tomp8463 Hi Tom.. Prices are getting ridiculous.. It is a great album.. Great artwork also..
@@tomp8463 yeah, even preorders were going for $25. stoop-id
Giles Lavery regular on The Metal Voice
yes ! and maybe he ll do vox on my next project ! I keep my fingers crossed, waiting for his final answer, he s quite a busy man, his main job his to manage bands !! I love his tone, ans he s very versatile, I hope he ll be able to be part of my project !
@MrGodstabber He comes across as a very nice guy cheers Good luck 🤘🤘💯💯
Your review sounds great, will give it a spin.
Warlord had the potential to be as good as maiden and Queensryche but they didn't have the song writing the made up names were stupid also kind of disappointed at them they were kind of cheesy
You need to re-listen to Deliver Us, it's got an amazing atmosphere totally different to the 2 bands you mentioned.
Dont bother listen to Hunt for Damien, it s kind of a re-record of old songs and the production is plain bad.
also, Rising from the ashes is a different beast, because de vox are done by Cains, the vocalist of Hammerfall, so it sounds kind of weird for what s supposed to be more US power metal, imho, but the songs are excellent !
the new album is great! I give it an 8.5/10.
but again, the best recording is Holy Empire,,,, I encourage you to cincentrate on the drums, they are fantastic throughout the whole album and the production is good too.
their first album is classic, but the production is outdated and can be a turn off.
I dislike apple music some times, they don’t hav any pallbearer that sucks.
There is not much stuff from Warlord out there. The first two releases have more or less the same songs and after that only one album in 2001 and one in 2013. You should have finished their discogrqphy in a day :D
Such a great album! Bill Tsamis must be proud! Thanks Mark Zonder, Giles Lavery And everybody involved in the making of This álbum.
Thank you for another great day of reviews Pete 👍💯
