A fair question. A few reasons. One is the blade is much stronger than say an exacto knife’s blade. Two and most importantly it has the shroud above the blade that allows me to use my preferred “pairing” motion when it cut or trim. Similar to slicing an apple. Pairing gives me a lot of pressure control and prevents snapping sensitive parts like masts or thin staves. I know it’s unorthodox but my I’ve used a box cutter for years and it works.

Just curious, why do you use a general utility knife instead of a round Hobby knife such as an Exacto type?
