Waah.. what a terrible situation :/ I can't believe they approved a bigger festival at the same place, without additional supervision of the bridge traffic, when they previously had problems with too many people on it.
Incidents like this is why I heavily avoid going in crowded areas/buildings where the amount of people seems to be way too large for the max capacity, always check for exits and be near them if I am inside a building and crowds start forming, and go the opposite way where a large crowd is headed - one look at that bridge with all the people in queue to walk across it is anxiety inducing just from the photo alone. I always tell my teenager the same things ad nauseam when it comes to events, and I hope like hell it got through their head to remember to do the same. So much can go wrong in a short amount of time, especially when a lot of people are gathered for an event. Have to always be vigilant and pay close attention to your surroundings - our bodies are fragile, even when healthy. How sweet of the elderly man to watch that baby grow up and be apart of his life despite him losing his wife. A bittersweet relationship.
Hey, still around 😉 Sorry I havent been able to upload recently, I have the audio for my next video recorded, I'll try to get around to editing and uploading it soon!
Hey Kenji, love the videos. Could you make a video on the Utsuru Bune incident? I believe it’d be the first pre-Meiji video you’ve ever made, but fascinating nonetheless. You could also go into the theories revolving around the mystery.
I could understand maybe it is a series of mishaps and lack of understanding/awareness, but a line crosses from accidental to criminal negligence when you know from previous smaller events that foreshadow the impending event.
So the interviews on the bridge was done long after the incident happens but seeing the same wall design was still kept? Its one of the main cause of the death..
May their souls be at peace. Kusakae was very brave. She saved that baby's life. I am so sad for the little boy. His dad did all he could, but the physics of crowd crushes are something jo one person can fight against, let alone a small little boy. Those on the bridge were not at fault. The festival should have been better managed, and had ppl directing traffic to prevent build ups. The only thing I can say is, don't be in a rush to leave. Hang back a bit. Let the larger group get by before leaving. If you see a lot of traffic in one spot and there are other ways to leave, use those other ways to leave. You gotta try to guage if the crowd os moving steadily or not. If it stops suddenly, there is a higher chance for such back ups to occur and to turn into a crowd crush. If the exit to an area creates a bottleneck, HANG BACK. Better to be at the back if the line than front or middle in such cases. Try to leave from areas that have cops or event personnel guiding/monitoring the crowd. If with children, be especially careful because fetting caught in crowd crushes or surges, you can easily get separated from your kids. Best to wait or leave early, before the event has finished. If able to check ahead of time, find out about security, how to enter and leave the venue, etc, and have a game plan that you go over with those you go with in order to stay safe. But ultimately, evenbwith all that, it's still possible to get stuck in such a thing. It really takes planning by event organizers to allow ppl to leave in set groups as a matter of safety and to keep from overwhelming areas like the bridge.
This is sad beyond words 😭
Hearing your own ribs snap... Damn. I can't imagine what would happen to a young boy. RIP
You are so underrated keep it up.😊
I love this narrator’s voice. Even though the stories are traumatic his style is calming.
Totally. Have you seen his mt Fuji one? You can hear a ghost! That's my favourite.

they didnt hold the fireworks anymore so that it wouldnt be as crowded; therefore the plastic walls will cause no threat
RIP

Very sad situation that could have easily been prevented! It was touching that the man who saved the baby basically became his godfather. ❤
Damn, I mean at least replace the plastic walls with metal grated ones :\
