  • Thanks to each and everyone of my 1000 subscribers - I try to make my videos informative and spend a while on the edits - you make it all worthwhile :) A very brief overview and QuickPower Wash on my new Miele WWV 980 WPS Passion washing machine. I've had it only a few days and love it! I got this model as I wanted to move onto smart laundry appliances - I'm hoping to get the matching dryer eventually too.

    Great video! I own a Miele WCR870 (I think). It's very similar to your washing machine, but it doesn't have the steam function. I'm intrigued that some of your wash cycle times seem much quicker. I used to use the Cotton cycle with quick and extra rinse options selected but found that the rinse wasn't always good. I've alternatively been using the Dark Garments cycle with extra rinse. It takes nearly 2 hours but seems to do an excellent job at both washing and rinsing. The only downside is the 1200 spin, so I usually pop it on an additional 1600 spin afterwards. Great video!

    I got the WER865 WPS model yesterday. It replaced a 6yr old Miele washer dryer. The TwinDos had leaked and corroded the base of the machine, because of that they couldn’t repair it and sent a replacement. I’m not using the TwinDos on the new machine. However I’m impressed at how quiet the machine is. My cottons cycle is longer than yours at 2hr 29mins. I used the Eco 40-60 and it does two spins after the main wash before it starts the rinse.
    I don’t have the ticking sound, but time will tell. I had it on my previous machine, couldn’t work out what it was, though it never bothered me and it wasn’t that loud.

    This would be our next machine when and if our current Mieles die (don't think that will be ANY time soon!!) Have the W5873 Edition 111 and TP8861 Edition 111 Heat pump Dryer. They are flawless and clean everything. King down doonas to silk pillow cases and cashmere jumpers, no issues ever. Faultless. One negative with the new ones, hate, hate the plastic door. The last gen was all metal. The new ones close very easily, so that's nice. Just wish was all metal. Have 26 cycles on the washer and the dryer is so efficient, we use several times a day and never need electric bill go up. Love these new ones though!

    Congratulations! I have the WCR870 which is essentially the same machine, have had it for almost 3 years now. If you select Gentle Action it will deactivate the Powerwash 2 without having to go into the service menu. I find the wash action (especially Powerwash 2) very harsh without Gentle Action activated, although the newer Powerwash 2 rhythm is better at sensing and saturating the load than the earlier versions.
    I find that using cottons + single Wash alongside activating the maximum rinse level is a more effective quick programme than the standard quick Powerwash as it rinses properly and also does a longer spin at the end. If you have gentle action activated, or you load more than 1kg it will also wash with a normal water level on single wash. This also lets you use temperatures up to 90, which quick Powerwash doesn’t allow. In my opinion the 49 in quick Powerwash cycle is awful compared to the previous 59 min version. And even then I don’t like how quick Powerwash doesn’t drain completely between the rinses.
    I’m with you on how annoying it is not being able to change options once its started, the Siemens IQ700 I have lets you do this and is a lot more flexible at that. Sometimes I forget to activate quick wash or add a rinse and it’s useful to be able to do this once it’s started. It also doesn’t allow you to select rinse hold if you know you’re going to pop out after the wash has started.
    The cycle times will artificially show as shorter on this particular model as it has the weight sensor. The WMV960 I had before was the same, you will find once the load adjusts etc the times will be similar to your old machine.
    Overall I do like the machine and it’s smart looking and intuitive to use, but have to say I prefer the Siemens overall as it rinses and spins much better, isn’t as fussy with spinning and is also quieter.
    Let me know how you get on with the hot fill, will be interested to see how that affects the performance and use. Enjoy the new machine and congratulations on 1k!

      Thanks very much for your detailed instructions - great to hear from someone who has experienced a similar machine and I will try those pointers out, thank you! I love it, but I agree that Power Wash isn't always wanted. I ddi check out some other models but I know Miele quality now, anything else seemed a gamble! Is your Siemens quiet spining, does it balance well? I don't have any hot water plumbed in - it really is rare these days for washing machines to need hot water, so the installers were very confused. I get that it's for the environment, maybe one day when I have solar power for the hot water! :)

    • @TheWashHouse
      @TheWashHouse 2 года назад +2

      @@sabistar44 you’re more than welcome, sorry if it’s a bit of an essay 🤣. I’ve had 3 W1s now (4 if you count the one that my partner had when i first moved in), so suffice to say I probably know far more than one should 🤣.
      It’s interesting that hot fill machines are making a comeback, always seems silly to me not to use hot water that’s already available but of course it all depends on your method of heating and how much pipe run you have as to how effective and efficient it would be in practice. Our washing machine is right underneath the combi boiler with a hot tap (left over from the days my partners mum had a hot and cold fill Hoover 1100!) only half a metre into the pipe run from the boiler, so in our case it would probably work well. I keep looking at hot and cold fill machines, though I need another machine like I need a bullet in the head lol.
      The Siemens (and my mums new Series 4 Bosch) is much better at balancing I’m afraid to say, and smoother and quieter at spinning. I wouldn’t mind the extra time for balancing on the Miele - but half the time the Miele decides to spin unbalanced anyway and almost often goes to max speed - so I would rather it just spin straight away if it’s going to do that.
      Have you set any favourite programmes yet? I do find the interface on these machines great especially if you have favourites set. The really neat thing is that it will send the programme from the washer over to the dryer once it’s done - so all you have to do once you’ve loaded the dryer is to hit start!

    2 years ago in Austria i bought model WWR860 wps for 1499 euros. The price of the same model right now is 1879 euros 😂😂 Also Twindos after 7 months of use was broken, they repaired it 3 times unsuccessfully. A lot of loud vibrations during the spin, there is just big fall of quality by Miele

    The " automatic " program is designed for mixed loads, it doesn't work like the dishwasher which is sensing the soil level. I know, I was also confused by this !

    • @sabistar44
      @sabistar44  Год назад +1

      It's doing well, I plan to film a more in depth review soon. My only complaint is the ticking noise from inside, it sounds like a spring or something makes this noise and audible during unbalanced spins. The steam does well, though its not as steamy in the "shirts" programme as my previous model. But shirts come out fairly wrinkle free!

      @@sabistar44 thanks. I ended up with the mode just below it with only the pre ironing with steam. So I miss out on steamcare and a load sensor. Is the ticking noise you mention in a video anywhere and is it a fault or just a quirk in the design?
