- This video was released in 1968 to introduce drivers to the principle of the Smith System, a set of driving parameters that can be used by drivers to operate motor vehicles more safely. It's a great period piece with the cars and scenery, but the principles can still be applied today.

Still one of the best safety films ever made. Almost 60 years old and the rules still apply.
This system is still helpful for today’s Society 2022-2023 Hopefully a lot of people will Learn this system. It will help make driving more safer For the drivers on our roads today.
Growing up in San Diego, this film was used in our driver's education class when I took it in 1973. Most all of it was shot in the Pacific Beach area, and even watching it in 1973 I was surprised to see how much of Pacific Beach had changed in that short period of time.
It is narrated by former KOGO radio disc jockey Ernie Myers.
Oh, woww! I remember seeing this film in drivers ed in the mid 70s! I did not expect to see it after all this time!
I took his cource a few years ago. My employer had everyone who used company vehicles take it. The rules still apply
I remember being showed this film in my NYS 5-Hour Course in 1991!
