I'm still just a little confused. I want to start a finger print business in Las Vegas, Nevada and there are about 20 finger printing businesses that I can find online located here in the city. The population of Vegas is about 2million residents. I cannot tell if it is open or closed and I am not sure what to do now that you have me hooked on the idea. Hello! I live in AZ and am wondering, do I have to apply through the DPS to get my finerprinting services going or can I hot the ground running? Do you need to get a fingerprint clearance card before performing actual business?
Tj Smith no you can perform ink fingerprinting for customers and then they can submit the ink card to Arizona DPS for their clearance card.
You yourself would not need a clearance card to perform fingerprinting though 👍🏻
I had the same question. I searched for hours and contacted AZDPS and found out you don't need a license to do fingerprinting. I was floored.
I am in Georgia is this a open or closed state?
Pamela Henry it’s actually somewhat of a hybrid state. Technically it’s closed but you can still submit ink cards to Georgia state without having the contract. Hope that helps!

NC is a closed state but very popular for ink. I would suggest offering ink card printing to start out and then only reinvest in an electronic machine once you have neough funding and customers to justify it.

You do not need to be certified. You can offer ink services to start but eventually I would suggest a live scan device for sure!
So, I would need to purchase ink card materials and learn proper fingerprinting techniques and market as a mobile fingerprinting technician? Is that correct? Then eventually invest in a device?
