i love how none of their PCs are ever romantically involved with each other, but are still always either best friends and/or most trusted allies. like i feel like they truly are best friends that happen to also be into each other, which is just like Best Friends Deluxe Edition™️
They played a couple as a bit for a sketch (the one where a regular guy is dating a LotR style elf maiden) and then started actually dating. Which is both cute and extremely funny.
I think Emily has said somewhere that she would like to ‘romance’ Murph in game, but she is constantly being cockblocked by Murph opting to play foot tall gremlins and monster-virgin boyscouts.
They _kind of_ romanced in Starstruck, but in a way that could definitely be read as that or just as a funky fresh close friendship with sight (in my tone deaf to social cues opinion) heteroeroticism

@@KatBambiHonestly, when I started watching Starstruck Odyssey, I was 100% certain they were in game married and was disappointed to learn they weren't (although I do by now also ship both Syd and Barry with other characters but I'm polyam so that's not a contradiction for me) and I think this might indicate that it's a good thing they're usually "cockblocked" by various factors bc else, they'd end up pretty much in game married every single time and as much as I love that idea, it might get old at some point
The way all the players immediately start copying the soft touches in the first clip is so funny because it is their default setting, they're like little comedy monkeys primed to start doing group bits at a moment's notice.
one of my consistent favorite things in d20 episodes is when emily pulls something batshit and murph looks INCREDIBLY confused but also INCREDIBLY in love with his avatar-of-chaos wife

Okay, hot take, but Em isn't an avatar of chaos. Pretty much everything she's done has been insanely tactical, balanced by the fact she's an actress/comedian, so if it comes to it, she's chomped down on the bit when offered. Hilda Hilda was her trying to maintain her secret identities, admittedly with some errors, but it was to a direct point for her character, and it was only when Brennan called it back that she really got into it (The bit was offered). In Crown of Candy, as Saccharina, she annihilates half the battlefield in two successive rounds, *on the fly*, using a couple of basic spells and abilities of her character.
The true tactician emerges, however, in Starstruck Odyssey with Operation Slippery Puppet, which she set up ahead of time, and had catalogued, ready to go. Later in the same season, she obliterates a Vercadian Protector Droid with ship's guns, but again it isn't random, she had it. It only *looks* like chaos because she thinks so laterally and so fast that it appears like she's just making it all up as she goes.The only times she wiggles at all from that is when she is presented a solid comedic moment to play with.

listen i don't know what exact combination of emotional and psychological cues you combined into the last few seconds of this video, but I was watching on my tv and it was enough to make me open it on my laptop just to make some sort of a comment. I guess I just want to say that these people (Emily, Murph, the Dropout gang, the naddpod gang, etc.) are so inspiring to me, too, and a big part of that is in the way they love each other in addition to everything they create with each other. And the whole video was great--you are a clearly a genuine and thoughtful person and it shows in your editing alone--but that last few seconds with whatever the FUCK that piano piece was that activated a section of my brain that immediately sent tears to my eyes... idk I just feel like you get it, and I get it, and all the people who rewatched that part to the point that it's got a big 'ol "most replayed" spike on it get it. i'm so grateful to have this group of creators, storytellers, and just good fucking people look up to and inspire me not just as a creator, but as a person who also loves their friends.

I started watching Emily and Murph through D20, and initially couldn't help but feel this way or that way about Murph. Now that I've spent more time watching their content, I'm realizing that I was unfairly projecting my own shit on Murph, and fully recognize that he's simply living the life I want to live. Emily Axford is the exact type of chaos gremlin who I'd love to spend the rest of my life getting bamboozled by, and Murph is sweet boi who's only crime is whatever sin he committed in a past lifeto make the dice gods hate him
